Planer decided to give me grief, so I tore the feed rollers, kickback fingers, and chip breaker off to find what was wrong. It ended up being a bushing that migrated out of place on the chip breaker.

The lack of a pressure bar on these 4 post planers is a design flaw.

jar944 - Life has been extremely busy and forgot all about garage journal. I'm looking at building another garage and stubbled back on the forums to see your reply from a year ago on one of my posts. Sounds like you aren't too far away and use my road as a cut through sometimes. Your flat work is flawless and like your projects in this thread.

Ha I forgot about that post. Yes I cut through auburn sometimes if I'm avoiding 29 coming from Gainesville. I'm a couple miles south of the new (still in process) overpass.

Nice on the 2nd garage. I'm still hoping for my 1st detached shop to materialize. Just have to get through all the house renovations.. and pool.. and ... before that happens.

Not garage related but its attached to the house that's attached to the garage.

Been planning this patio and deck for about 4 years. Finally broke ground a couple weeks ago. Hiring out a job feels so completely unnatural to me. I still ended up digging and setting the deck footings, since I'll be building it. Just waiting on price of lumber to drop back to reality.

Phenomenal craftsmanship and a heck of an impressive tool inventory. Laughed out loud at the diagonal F-150 photo, as I've got a '97 F-250 7.3 with the long bed... I think if I pulled into the garage I'd be through the wall and halfway into the dining room before the garage door could close behind me.

Ha thanks. They sure don't build residential garages to fit trucks.. my last house had a 19x18 "2" car.. sure if you didn't want to upen the doors and get out of the compact car. Even on the diagonal that truck wouldn't fit.

So what is your plan to clean the red clay off the brick? I think I live south of you down by Lynchburg and this red clay has been miserable to work with and around. I cringe when I see that beautiful white brick with the red clay stains all over it.

Fortunately or unfortunately its not brick, but actually a concrete foundation with brick texture.

The unfortunate part is that nothing will take the red out of the paint. I actually just pressure washed the foundation today after work. The red came right off the bare concrete below the original soil line. Everything above stayed orange.

It's just going to get painted again (I wish i knew what was originally used as its held up incredibly well)

She parks in the driveway, but isn't thrilled about it.

Long term plans are a 30x40 or 35x50 2 story shop with barn bridge to the 2nd floor. Basically a stick framed pennsylvania bank barn looking thing.

My 3 car "garage" is my workshop too and at 19'8" x 29'7" is smaller than my 2 car garage in my last house at 25'1" x 24'8" so yeah, a bit of creative marketing by some of the realtors. Having bought a builder's house, it seems to just be the norm. We did look at one builder's houses when we were planning on building on our property and he gets it, most of his 2 car garages were 27' x 27' he cited the need to park a truck and use the garage as a garage for doing what he did. Had he not come in at 40% more per square foot building for us vs. what he sold his spec homes for, we would have a 27' x 39' 3 car garage now.

Yeah its a 2 car, with room for a motorcycle or lawnmower. Though you are right realtors will call anything that can fit 4 Yugos a 4 car. Ive seen a bunch of "4 car" 2+2 garages where they claim 2 wide 2 deep. Most normal people would call that a 2 car

I have admired your woodworking in the other thread, impressive setup.

When I build my attached garage I went with 26 deep stall for parking, garage is 36 wide by 46 and I would consider it a 2.5 with storage space in the back.

Thanks. My wife thinks my tool inventory is excessive, I tend to disagree.

As for the garage, had I built not bought the garage would have been a more normal size. It works ok for what it is for now.

Speaking of wood working I'm building the porch column wraps currently..

Thanks. My wife was insistent on the porch being redone. At this point I can agree it was worth it.

Speaking of the porch. These post bases are almost done. If i didn't have to plant a tree with a 600lb root ball and unload 2 yards of mulch this afternoon they would have been. As it is I'm a bit short on material.

I wasn't happy how this part of the patio ended up. Its 100% on me as I never drew a wall in the plans and it needed something. The patio crew came up with a solution but its not something I can live with so I decided to move the grill station to that section and integrate a retaining wall as well as the steps. It also allows me to remove that section of fence.

Thanks. I'm not sure i have more attention to detail than anyone else. I do know what I don't like though :D

With that said I'm relatively happy with the finished look. I hadn't done any masonry work before this. So it was a interesting experience.

Spend Sunday afternoon with a grout bag working the joints. I was hoping to have it all wrapped up by now but still need to get countertops, backsplash and top caps.
