I've got myself into a bit of a problem due to my impatience.

I had a coolant leak coming from a block off plate on an aluminum engine block. I proceeded to JB weld around the block off plate to seal it. It didn't work, now I've got JB weld stuck on the engine block.

Is there a safe way to remove the JB weld besides pulling the whole motor and grinding it down?

I think a careful tap-tap-tap :lol_hitti with a small flat screwdriver and a hammer will get it off.
some folks on here might say 'angle grinder".

Heat, they use two part epoxy for the fluxtrol on the induction coils. These coils survive in a horrible world but the glue hangs in. When in for a rebuild they have to burn the stuff off. So get it hot.

I’ve just had to weld up an Aluminium fuel tank that had been fixed at the track with JB weld. Using a screwdriver or chisel will remove some, but not all. Grinding wheels and wire brushes will just tend to push it into the aluminium. I found that a 120 grit flapper disk will get rid of it, along with a bit of the aluminium.

Depends I suppose, why you want to remove it.

Heat + scraping and chiseling works from my experience. An issue is the aluminum will act as a heat sink making it harder to heat up.

I'll try this, I've got a good chisel and a heatgun

I can get a chisel in there, not sure the flap disk will fit though.

:rocker:

Are you sure you need coolant? Time to hard block that sucker.

Not a racecar hahahahaha.

JB Weld is usually fairly brittle in my experience.
A light hammer and cold chisel would probably chip it off.

I sure hope so!

HOW CAN I REMOVE J-B WELD AFTER IT IS FULLY CURED?

When fully cured, J-B Weld can only be removed by grinding or filing it off, or by directly heating the product above the 600º maximum temperature threshold.

So apparently, no solvents/
