I screwed up. I thought with all the photos of the options you could get any of the 3 styles, not just the most recent. Can I change my order from 3 to 1 please?

Thanks so much for doing this!

np, can you please look in your email for the link to edit your form response? change it to 1 opener and use the comment section at the end of the form to say that you accidentally paid for 3

if you don't see the email, check spam filter

i wish we could get the other styles too

thanks to those of you who left illuminating comments on the form.

i think i understand now why some of you paid but didn't submit the form.
in response, i added these instructions on the form just above the payment link:

If you don't open this link in a new tab, your info on this group buy order form won't be saved!
OPEN THIS PAYMENT LINK IN A NEW TAB. Then come back to this form's tab after paying, finish filling it out, and click submit at the end.

If we received an email is that confirmation that all was submitted correctly?

yes, you should receive an email (check spam filter) from google forms with a copy of all the info you provided and also a link at the top to edit your info as needed.

Can you publish a list of who is paid and how many ordered so we can check that the order made it to you correctly.

for you, i see an order for 2 openers. payment and form info received. thank you for following directions :)

everyone was emailed (check your spam filter) a copy of all of the info that they submitted and a way to update the info if needed.

i will also look at all of the payments i received and cross reference the form information for discrepancies. the main issue is that some people paid but didn't submit the form, presumably because they navigated away from the form to pay before submitting the form and then didn't come back.

please give me a couple of days to do that. i'll announce when i've contacted everyone i'm missing info from.

basically, if you sent me money, you'll hear from me if i don't have your info. and if i do have your info, you'll also have that same info in the form of a confirmation email (check spam filter). sorry for sounding like a broken record. i don't expect everyone to read every post here.. or follow directions for that matter (lol).

did some work for us. pretty sure i can save us money overall by splitting it into two shipments to avoid import taxes (two packages under $800 limit).

also, hopefully this way they'll get through customs faster because they won't get manually inspected. stuff under $800 almost never does.

update: i have info from everyone, and everyone's paid up.
current count is 91 plus 2-3 for me (haven't decided how many i want yet).
67 users participated, incl me.

i shopped around looking at package forwarders and settled on forward2me.com. i'm still trying to get my account set up with them. apparently due to fraud, they require users to submit identity documents in order to use their service in germany, and they haven't told me how to do that yet.

once that's squared away, i'll make two orders of ~45 openers and have them sent there.

here's a list of who got what. i hope it doesn't bother anyone that i'm sharing this info, but it doesn't seem particularly private to me:

Very cool, this should be a fun surprise package this spring. Thanks!

I agree. While I get the feeling you are going to keep us up to date on progess, but I am going to really try hard to avoid checking the thread, and just see it in the mail.

I very well may be up in your neck of the woods later today :3gears:. Skipped Sunday evening due to the freezing rain.

ok, first batch of 47 purchased and sent to package forwarder. i may wait a day or two (or ideally until it leaves knipexfans) before ordering the second batch to try to idiot-proof this. i don't want them to somehow get the bright idea to combine the shipments.

it was 610.53 eur = 745.95 usd

thanks guys

48548 and riceaterSLC, pm'd

i need to keep the second batch under $800 declared, so if you two each want an opener, i can make it 49 instead of 47 (50*$16=$800).

but for real i can't add any more openers after this lol
you two are the last late joiners!

hey, who doesn't love pizza?

i'm from chicago. lou's is good but not my favorite, and i actually like their thin crust more than their deep dish.

my favorite deep dish pizza in chicagoland is pequod's:

i often get italian beef & giardiniera as toppings. basically like the chicago classic "italian beef" sandwich but on a pizza.

pequod's gimmick is they line the edge of the pan with slices of cheese before they put the dough in, so the crust has crispy, almost-but-not-actually-burnt cheese on the outside.

i've spent time in AZ, but i've never heard of nello's. i'll have to check it out if i ever go back there.
looks like it could be pretty good from the pics.

i like most pizza tbh. i have a neapolitan oven from italy in my back yard and enjoy making that style or similar. very high temp, 1-2 minute bake time. sourdough. simple but high quality ingredients. some of mine:

here's kind of a weird one where i stuffed the "crust bites" with ricotta, tuna, and olives:

We get the thin crust as well. Spinatos is good in Phoenix, but miss nellos.... they are still here in Ahwatukee and mesa....

Pequod's is a must stop, if visiting Chicago. Some will think it's just burnt cheese.

Hi Pizza, it sounds like you’ve already ordered for delivery to the shipping service in Germany? My buddy there has been following the thread and states he could ship it faster for cheaper as he wouldn’t charge a commission. Sounds like it’s too late? Not sure what shipping methods he’s proposing but he’s organized several group buys on car forums and things have always been handled smoothly and correctly.

Just throwing that out there. Thanks Pizza!

hrm maybe too late, although it hasn't shipped yet. i just don't know how good knipexfans' communication is and if i could get the shipping address updated before they ship.

basically, i'm looking at two packages each like this:

32cm x 32cm x 21cm, 5.5kg

(two packages to keep the declared value under $800 on each)

i don't know what the real dimensions and weight will be. that's just my conservative estimate hopefully erring on the side of too big and too heavy.

but anyways, my forwarder quotes 71.91 eur for each of those two packages.
DHL express.

wondering how much cheaper he'd be?

He hasn’t proposed other options. Honestly DHL express is lighting fast, I get packages from Japan in two days. I know most of Europe nearly shuts down for two weeks around Christmas and New Years. Crapshoot getting ahold of someone anywhere this time of year.
I’ll see what he says as far as alternative options. If not then the current method is not horrible and will suffice :)

Not to turn this into the pizza discussion, but than you both for not mentioning Giordano's when discussing pizza in Chicago.

nothing else to do while we wait for these openers, lol.

giordano's is good. i think it's a good, archetypical example of chicago deep dish.
another decent example could be art of pizza.

both of those beat lou's deep dish which i am not a big fan of.

my favorite chicago deep dish is still pequod's, but it is not the standard style.

Pizza, I submit this as the best pizza in Cleveland.

Here is a picture of me as an infant, with my dad eating a Geraci's pizza!

nice pic, thanks for sharing. i'll have to check out geraci's if i'm ever there.

Oof. This is what I get for only looking at my subscribed topics and not looking at new posts in the main forums. Looks like this was a great deal!

PS. If anyone doesn't want theirs when it arrives. ;)
