Let me start by saying, there are guys and gals here who have far more impressive setups than I do. I'm shocked that folks have even the slightest bit of interest in my humble hang out but I will happily share because I was asked.

This thread is a place holder for the actual tour otherwise I will surely forget by the time the spring thaw arrives. The two pictures are just simple teasers to give you an overall feel of my hangout. Blackhawk island is not pictured along with a bunch of other things. You'll see that stuff plus a lot more when the real tour begins.

Coming, spring of 2021.

The words "Alemite" and "humble" cannot co-exist. Looking forward to the tour horse! I like the signs as well.

:shocking: Yowza! The Signage alone is worth the tour, and then there are the workstations and chests and such. I don't know where to feast my eyes next. :willy_nil

(Thanks for 'The Trailer', Sonny. Two of these now officially makes it a trend! Who will be third? :))

Thank you for dropping the veil. Your place is very cool. Lots of cool stuff. Anytime you want to show more, I'm ready.
I remember seeing what I think is an Eastwing Hammer display before in a hardware shop that is now long gone, very nice.

Well, as you know, I am one of the few who have visited the Twertsy Tool Temple, a true religious experience. He did a video tour of his place which I believe is still floating around on YouTube somewhere. If anyone sees that, our places will look like a pineapple league setup. I can't even fathom what Don's party garage looks like. It's probably best that I never find out. My heart may not be able to handle it. lol

You've started the GJ threat tour trend. Per your request, I've occupied the second spot in line. :)

Thank you to the rest of you for the kind words. I've never considered my garage a cool place for anyone other than me.

Hey! Respectfully disagree! I've been to "Todd's Tool Temple" several times, and yes, it's big, and he's filled it up with stacks and boxes and sets and stuff - and the set-up is cool (with the lift and the cars and the little "office" on the side), and don long's "Party Garage" is spectacular, and big, HAHA, but it's not all about quantity. Or even quality. Eyes of the beholder, dude. Everybody's place is unique and has something different to offer. I know you're just being humble and modest, but you know you've got a A LOT of valuable signs there and something special going on with the Alemite theme. It looks like the corner of a 1930's Service Station. The guys from American Pickers would have a field day in there. Can't wait to see more of "The Horse Stable" (extra points for cleverness!) from a little closer up come 2021.

Okay, I can't argue with you here. All points well taken. :)

The current horse stable is merely my staging area for the, "Horse Barn". This new place will be much larger and feature brick and old lumber throughout. Old signs really pop against century old brick walls and also old lumber.

Sharp eye. That's precisely where the Estwing advertising hammer came from. A long closed family hardware store that couldn't compete against the box store giants.

Looks like I could spend a few hours in there looking at all the stuff. Thanks for the taster view, and good luck with the 'horse barn' project looking forward to seeing that.

I almost wish I could see it all right away, the suspense of mystery and old treasures.

The Delco sign is one of the more interesting artifacts in the stable. It's dated October of 1942 and because of the war effort, it's made of masonite (engineered wood) instead of metal.

Okay, okay, I've been pressed to answer a mystery that one GJ member must know, "I cannot wait until spring to know what's inside the Alemites..."

The bottom shelves of the Alemites house a 1920s fixed model 52 Prentiss 4 inch vise and two Wilton 3" bullet vises, one from the mid 1950s and the other from the early 1960s.

As we move up, you'll find a beautiful Craftsman block grinder, a late 40s Fleet box with the proper tool sets inside, turn of the 20th century Smith "Perfect" wooden handle tools, and to top things off, two sets of Walker jack stands.

And to add to this GJ Christmas gift, here are some photos of the aforementioned. Enjoy!

And here is the second set of pictures. I hate that you can only upload 7 at a time.

So it actually is a (Walker Steel) Horse stable. :)

Indeed it is. :)

I half considered adding the URLs to all the various restoration threads as I post the pictures of the junk treasures in the horse stable. I may go back later in the winter and do that because it's impossible right now given the Christmas and New Year's rush.

Sonny! I was thinking of you last night while binge watching American Pickers! I should've PMd you. They pulled a huge Alemite workstation out of a barn in South Dakota. It was the real wide one with a back wall and overhead lights, but missing the bench part and the lights. It was a Team A (Nike and Danielle) vs Team B (Robbie and Frank) episode, and Team B paid $1,300 for it because the rest of the picks were small, Team A was killing it at a sign guy's garage in north Jersey, and they needed a big thing. I was thinking they overpaid.

It was huge, though, and looked like a reasonably easy restoration. I always watch that show, checking out the tools they generally ignore. Look at the classic vehicle in the background that they didn’t even mention!

I saw the Alemite Bench episode last night and was going “Wow look at that!!”....and yeah there’s stuff on there all the time they don’t look at or mention that has me going, “Wait!, go back!”. Love the show.

Don, did you see the ep right after with the guy in Sedona, AZ, selling his dad's artwork? He was a Detroit car illustrator, before Detroit went photo. It was an amazing collection. Caddies, Broncos, and more, including a cherry '65 Corvair, all hand drawn.

A Greenbriar would be full glass. That' a Corvan, baby!
No dissing the Corvan, please.

I saw it and would have liked to own that artwork but I don’t think it was in my budget. Obligatory Corvair pictures below. Lugz should recognize Pacific Grove. Sorry for the little side journey, Horse. I’m really enjoying the tour.

I probably shouldn't mention too much about this here, but the pickers run in the same circle of junk men that I do. They paid too much for that bench but the problem now is that everyone with rusted up stuff will use that episode as their valuation guide. It may make my Alemite center section adventure a lot more difficult.

No dissing the Corvan, please.

I'm all about the side roads on a journey. I see nothing wrong with the goodies you dropped here.

This tour is a perfect diversion from the cold grey days of winter and will serve as a good placeholder until I get my own tour in person!

I knew it was going to be good. I almost said it was better than I expected, but having gotten to know Sonny a bit, it’s exactly what I expected.

Very nice! Looking forward to the full tour.

In the event that you don't know, Alienbaby is single-handedly responsible for the successful acquisition of my beloved Alemites. Once I put the time and work into this tour thread, you will be able to read more about it.

I'm in line for the tour! Will there be snacks?
The only snacks available in the horse stable are in liquid form. You can have an 8oz bottle of coke served ice cold from a 1950 Vendo 83 machine or you can have a long neck Pabst served off the Alemite workbench.

Hey, a Corvan is a set of wheels I would seriously consider defying the wife on if one were to pop up, that or a 62 wagon.

Cue the Wife’s ‘61 Station Wagon shot. She commuted in it for 100,000 miles.
