I had the fortune of getting my first covid vaccine last Friday. The shot was administered at a local grocery store pharmacy in Gonzales county which is a couple of counties southeast from where I live in Austin. Just so happens that I have some early Texas ancestors from there. So after my covid shot I headed over to the county courthouse to see what additional information I could find. My gr-gr-GF was born in Gonzales county in 1856. His father came to Texas from MS between 1851-1854. He died there in 1877. They had a manilla folder on my gr-gr-gr-GF's probate with original legal papers related to his estate from 1877-1889 when the estate was finally closed. There were many of these papers with folds and additional pages glued/pasted together at the sides or the ends. Every single place where these pages were fastened together was as solid as if they had been done yesterday not 140+ years ago. Made me wonder what the heck kind of glue/paste they would have been using that would still be that good after all that time? I should have examined closely how they fastened the sheets together. I go back for shot #2 in a month and I'll be back at the courthouse. It was remarkable. Sorry it took me so long to get to the point of the post. Bad habit.
