I hate painting. Pulled the cars out. Moved all the house interior doors in. Knobs and hinges off. Sand, clean, sand some more. Paint. I hate painting. Rehung the bathroom doors. Rest of the doors are still tacky so they will be hung tomorrow. Did I mention I hate painting.

pre-painted another 80' of tall baseboards. This weekend is more baseboard installation work, atop the ~670sq' of laminate flooring I recently completed. Then comes ~160sq' of travertine tile laying.

Put a new steering gear, pitman and idler arm on the truck, then gave it the annual polish & wax, and a general top to bottom detail, it's just as clean on the underside.
Dropped it off at the alignment shop on the way to work this A.M., also had them flush the brake system since it's the same fluid that was put in at the factory 20 years ago.
115k miles on it, orig. owner.

The old girl still looks good for a 2001 !

I admire your truck. The cleanliness. I'm assuming it has its original paint. I claim any car/truck can have excellent looking paint for 20-30 years if the owner takes proper care of it. You truck is example #1

Made a work surface on top of my wide Harbor Freight box. 3/4 plywood and 1x2 poplar edging.

Water pump for the 944 finally got here. Installed the pump, new idlers, tensioners, belts, etc.

And was reminded once again what a luxury it is to have a warm shop, lifts, and everything else close by after working for decades in driveways, small one car garage and friend's shops...definitely grateful for everything and everyone that contributed to having that luxury.

Mostly finished the central shopvac project. Still waiting on a couple parts, but it works.

- The tangential intake on the shopvac.

- The view up the bottom. The blue thing is the filter shield. The white thing at the bottom is the tangential intake, that makes it act more like a cyclone.

- The Gamma lid with the center cut out.

- The long view past everything mostly done.

- Top down, you can see the reinforcing rings in the bucket, and a better look at the reel. That's Otto checking out the mess.

My wifes garage door is cracked in a couple of places. When I open the door the section that has the cracks makes a loud noise. I took a couple pieces of small steel drilled some holes in them and on the door. I mounted it where the cracks were. So far so go. The doors pretty old I dunno how long it will last.

Had a few minutes before work this morning, so went out to the shop and installed the finished bracket onto the air compressor.

Just one more mod and I'll be ready to move the Air compressor back into it's resting place.

I need to replace that small-diameter hose with a larger one. The tank and the regulator both can support a larger hose. Getting the adapter out of the tank will be difficult.

Nice work. I've got another mod for you. Make the adapter plate to screw in a Solberg cartridge filter, instead of the sponge or felted horror they supply with the pump.

That's on the longer list of things to do. Next two mods are to finish mounting rubber pads under the feet (the AC was just sitting on them) and to add a hook on the right side to hang the hose from.

Putting a silencer on the air intake would be nice.

I had a much older compressor that I had modified and mounted a spare Harley Davidson air cleaner on it. It didn't help make the compressor much quieter, but it looked cool

We have this local trash to treasure site on Facebook and found someone tossing out a home built plywood 2 twin beds, exactly the same.
They even delivered it to my home.
Very nice day today to work outside, the snow here is almost melted...shade keeps some snow still.
So I cut the beds down about 10 inches and stacked them on top of one another and formed a raised garden bed.

Tried to reinforce it as best I could without spending money on it, found some junk drawer brackets and a lot of screws.

Lined it with heavy mill plastic, I filled the corner and side bottoms with Styrofoam from used pieces from my train layout scenery. The Styrofoam will reduce the amount of rock on the bottom and provide area for water to pool.

I still have to add a drain pipe, paint the outside something neutral, place it in its final location, and add rock, fertilizer, soil and garden plants.
I have a trellis from last year to add to it too.
A work in progress on nice days I want to spend outside...we have a few more of these 55F+ day in the near future I will spend painting the garden bed.

I hate hose clamps, so I've been changing the few rubber hoses I have left to -AN hose and fittings. Last night I did the upper radiator hose.

I'll make sure it's leak free for a few drives and then do the lower hose.

I used the shrink clamps earlier.

Last night I worked up the ending for this week's video on the Fox Alien CNC laser engraver. It's a fun little machine that is hobbyist grade; ie made in china so it's cheap enough for me to afford..... In this week's video I illustrate the assembly process and show a few cut clips. It's a fun little machine. I hope to use it for a little custom engraving project. Check it out if you are bored and or interested in a CNC laser engraving machine.

Yesterday morning I moved stuff from my wife's car to my car and took my car to work today. First time I drove it in 2 weeks as we have been trying to put miles on her car since it's a lease we are way under mileage on.

Septic truck came out Wednesday, a little disconcerting when they have no idea what type of tank opening it is. I was told they pumped out 750 gallons. I doubt this smallish tank goes to the house or shop so I might remove it. This is the metal I keep finding around the property.

Just some minor clean up. I recently finished a few projects and never really cleaned up after them. Spent some time running around putting up loose tools.

I have two new projects for this weekend and want to start with a clean slate on the larger workbenches.

Tore out old Masonite paneling, shelves, and ceiling panels. Ready for news 1/2 ply and soffit for ceiling covering.
Old Masonite went up in 1976,fell apart in the last 5 years.
I'll paint the walls white(satin) and upgrade my floresent lights for led.
Then back to finish my twin engine Burt Rutan , Defiant after a n 18 hear hiatus.

redid the positive battery clamp on the project Tvan - one wire was NOT in good shape; they had split the main starter cable wire to two Crimp lugs adn one of those was barely there (not sure HOW it managed to start...) AND the battery post clamp literally fell off at the first touch of a wrench...


All good now and probably why it was not getting a decent charge and, why I periodically got a "Christmas tree light-up" of most of the indicators lights - I'll bet the main clamp was disconnecting and making the circuit think the battery was disconnected! (This usually indicates EOL of an alternator on these)

Drained the antifreeze and flushed the system on my daughter's round track car. First practice of the season is this Saturday. She cannot wait to get back in the driver's seat again.
