Finished running all the electrical for five new outlets. Was a little hesitant tying into the breaker box, but after some Internet and YouTube, I was able to get 3 outlets wired onto one 20A circuit on the rear wall of the garage for general use, and then 2 more outlets on another 20A circuit with one outlet that’ll be specially for my bench grinder and belt sander, and then another outlet on the post in the middle of the garage for when I need an electric tool in the middle of the garage. Tied it all in at the breaker box, turned on just the main and the circuit I wanted to test. Success, every outlet has 120v. Still don’t like doing electrical though.

Plugged the holes from where my vise was going to go. Decided to do something different after reading the working on floor thread. 87f964d515ae6b5522252d57a21ae6ce.jpg

NOTHING! I'm taking a break from scrounging around in my 20" crawlspace trying to repair some termite damage instead. This is day 2 and of course there is twice as much damage as I originally anticipated. Should have the floor joists repaired by the end of today. Then there's the 1" rough cut diagonal subfloor that also had some damage....and then there's the old 3/4" pine floor planking about 4" wide.....and on top of that my regular hardwood short board floor which is very old. House was built in 1958 and guessing the hardwood was put in maybe in the 70's. Trying to get it all repaired without just totally demolishing the livingroom.

Spent more time on making a rack for these cheap screwdrivers than they're worth:

quinn_rack.jpg

I don't know man......I've been using that set for 2 years straight now as my go-to and they are holding up well.

They actually do seem okay, or I wouldn't have spent time making a rack for them at all. But one of them came out of the package with a bent shaft - I mean seriously bent, like about a 5 degree bend right in the middle of the shaft. HF replaced it immediately with a smile, but still, that's sloppy QC and it reduced my expectations. Good to know they're working out for you though.

Busy day. Got home from church around one.

Then I washed the wife's car, finished plumbing the air compressor with 1/2" line, finished the drawers for the mill tooling, and built a paint booth.

Picked up a pair of #32 (2in) Adel clamps so I can relocate the compressor for the air horns on the Kaw11... & attach it properly instead of the half assed zip tie method it's had for the past decade...

Mounted battery holders under the shelf over the workbench,
painted a wall mount I welded up yesterday and hung it on the wall,
painter a weld wire holder I made yesterday to go on a kitty litter bucket (LOL),
made 4 more PVC tubes to hold weld wire.

Mounted my new air cleaner also realized the one garage door has started rubbing on the track when opening. The door itself appears to be level so it's probably the track. [emoji2371]I'm not looking forward to fixing it as I have rear mount torsion springs so adjusting the track 1/4" means letting out and retorqing the spring.

The first time I worked on a garage door torsion spring, probably 30 years ago now, I had no idea what I was doing, and happened upon the right procedure just by examining it and noodling it out. It didn't even occur to me that it was risky, just that I had to be careful not to let the spring go. I think I got lucky.

Took care of the compressor relocation project. It's now under the right side cover instead of under the seat. Cut off the original mount doohicky & cleaned that up a bit. Had previously changed the battery position to where the airbox used to live, can put a gallon milk jug under the seat :)
Still need to shorten the wires to the compressor a bit to tidy it up.
In the last pic you can see how I used the plastic bracket that originally held the compressor to the horns to mount the horns to the frame tube (at least a decade ago...).

Before & after pics:

Not all today, but in bits and pieces over the last few weeks, putting together some cabinets to get my **** organized and provide a home for my miter saw and router table.

Teaching myself cabinet building via university of Youtube, and it's going okay. My dad's a carpenter but I wandered into electrical at a young age and didn't look back until now...

Spring show car bling maintenance on my ponies 90,000 mile, stock aluminum brake caliper housings....

Instead of painting them or adding covers like my wife Mustang has, I like the shiny polished aluminum look of a clean caliper.
View media item 110867
I painted the back covers of the brake pads and they look okay for being Testors model paint in my cars color. They do need a touchup, so I repainted what you could see...

I found my old mudflap was cracked in a spot so I added a piece of metal with 5 minute epoxy and repainted the repaired area. That wont crack there again!

Well, waiting for paint to dry and another day before moving on to the front caliper.

Finished installing the front and rear dash cam in my truck, then removed the back seat so I could take the headrests off. Ford in their infinite wisdom made the headrests removable but didn't leave enough room between them and the headliner to pull them up and out :dunno: Was out for a drive earlier when a moose and her baby almost rearranged the front end of my truck, they must have wanted their picture taken on the new dash cam.

Weekend was less than totally productive in the garage: changed the brake pads on my #1 bike, squeaks continued, full clean of rotor with isopropyl, THEN I thought to check for wear. At least a half mil out of spec in all measured spots, according to my HF digital caliper. Rear is ok still, but decided to ride to the bike shop, AND the burrito shop with my kids and buy two rotors, one for now, and one for six months from now. 2.5 mile ride, dropping the 4 year old off halfway there at his sister's soccer with his mother... 6 year old went the whole way with me.... Locked up the bicycles, realized my wallet and all cards were still at home!

We rode home, I promised to go out pickup the required bike supplies and the requested burritos... This time, I went by car.

There are virtually no 160mm center lock rotors in warehouses anywhere, but the chain bike shop I chose to visit was able to find 1 OEM rotor at another of their shops, I should have it by NEXT weekend.

Joke's on me, the burrito place next to the bike shop is closed on Sundays. So I placed an internet order from a "rival" take-out place, drove over, picked it up and drove home. I still have a worn rotor, but my boys thought that they got Mexican from the closed place...

Took the console back out of my car and wrapped the heated seats/steering wheel panel because I wasn't happy with how the plastic looked.

Now it's better. Lexus should have done something to the center console rather than plain *** plastic. Bunch of donks...

Added the entry Step/Platform from the garage to the mud room area

Installed my winch to store my truck cap and lift items from truck bed. No longer a 3-4 man job 👍🏻

Finally got time to replace my front disc rotors, pads and flex lines.
Noticed a small puddle of oil under my rear differential. Never attempted to replace either a pinion seal before, but thought after I do the rear brakes I would try. Pulled the first rear rotor, and found what looked like grease on my parking brake shoes. Confused at first then realized my axle seal must be leaking. Never pulled an axle, and don't now if I'm capable of it, but going to try. Figure I'll try to get all three done: pinion, and axle seals. Then I can do my rear brakes. Wish me luck !

Finished polishing the brake caliper housings on the driver side and flipped the car around so I can do the passenger side. Nice day today to be working in the garage with the doors open. 67F today in Northern Illinois...not too bad!

i searched before posting, and didn't find a thread like this soooo.......

today, i cleaned up some junk that was in my way. i replaced a bad light fixture, fixed up a tiller, and cleaned up a few things.

how bout you?

I did what I do most days...go out there with good intentions, start hunting tools, get pissed and sit down and stare at all of that **** and wonder how in the world does a man get to this point.....does anyone else find that 90% of their shop time is spent organizing the shop, cleaning the shop or building a new cabinet or bench for the shop? I have gremlins in mine which thrive on moving things and hiding things and straight up tossing things I just had to have and are never seen again once placed in that black hole.

It just means it's a work in progress. When I started with my garage it became a cluster mess along with couldn't find anything. Slowly I'm working on the organization but there's still more that can be done.

I had a similar problem with my garage door, it ended up being the cable spool loosened and the cable overlapped pulling it off somewhat.
My guess is that it could be the same for you, those tracks generally stay put.
Just my thought and recent experience.

You're new here. There are many threads pertaining to such issues. But, yes, the majority of us feel the same pains.

I suggest starting here:

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=381487

I'm not sure at what point the pictures show back up, but fast forward until they do and you can start drooling at his organization.

This site is full of such threads with massive amounts of ideas for ways of getting a shops mess under control.

I'm slowly working my way into better organization as well. Oddly enough, my shop looks messy, but it's an organized mess. I just don't have everything hidden away in cabinets and drawers yet.

To stay on topic: My evening was spent sanding motorcycle parts. Second coat of primer will be sprayed tonight, then hopefully it's on to color and clear this weekend.

Not knowing how to use this site, I posted a response to your garage door problem does a few posts. My problem was very similar.

We move every time the rent comes due LOL...seriously....we have moved across the US 3 times in the last 7 years. I have my base shop down to rolling base cabinets and french cleated overheads that will fit in any 2 car garage along with a cabinet saw and a outfeed table/assemble table. Thats the base. I can pack it up and unpack it in about 6-8 hours and have almost anything I need. Then there is the other stuff. Currently in boxes and totes in 2 - 10X20 storage units. Thats the stuff I often wonder why I have it LOL....but sometime in the next 12 months I will have a 16X25 detached garage at my house and a 30X40X26 foot one on a lot nearby and then by golly I will have all of that **** spread out over a 15 mile area!!!
