Hey all, just want to share some progress pics of a metallic floor I'm working on. This is about 1150 SQ FT of what used to be a orthodontist office turned bong shop in Gunnison, CO.
Started the process off with mastic removal (sorry no pics), then ground the floor with 60/80 diamonds.
1st prime coat was 100% solids epoxy tinted orangish-yellow and thinned 20% with solvent. Layed down this coat at roughly 250 SQ FT/Gallon.
2nd prime coat was 100% solids epoxy tinted with the main base metallic color (Sedona) and some accent (Silver), unthinned, roughly 250 SQ FT/Gallon.
The next day I screened the floor with 60 grit and 80 grit screens, to remove any debris. Vacuumed the floor and gave it a nice solvent wipe.
I poured the main body coat in 4, 4.875 Gallon batches totaling 19.5 gallons of metallic epoxy, or ~56 SQ FT/Gallon using the dirty pour technique. My ratios were 3 gallons of Sedona, 144 Ounces of Silver, 96 ounces of Violet per batch.
I poured these out in large blobs throughout the floor and spread with a Magic Trowel, then back rolled North to South then East to West, using an 18" 1/4" Epoxy Glide roller nap. After backrolling in an uneven pattern to not leave roller lines, each area was misted with denatured alcohol to lay out flat and add effects.
