I built and framed in the handrail for the stairs. The building is still under a permit awaiting final inspection, so the handrails need to be to code... ie 3" ball cannot slip through the ballisters or 6" at the rise-run triangle. So I framed it all out for some sort of sheathing, was thinking peg board, but then I don't like having **** all out in the open... with the price of building supplies, I am looking to go cheap... maybe luan? or garden lattice?

Thoughts?

Have you got a pic of this rig? I'd like to add some chickens to the mix, and my experience with chicks and incubators is about 60 years out of date.

Cause you don’t already do enough in a day..lol

Seriously! Next it will be milking cows and 4AM wake-up calls!

Not in the shop, but set near a dozen clocks forward...

Was in and out for a few hours as I took down 75’ of chain link fence across the back of property since my back neighbors unknowingly did me a favor and up a 6’ privacy fence all the way across. Then cleared out all the leaves that had accumulated between the privacy fence and chain link, and burned the leaves and a bunch of wood.

Crunched some cans and tossed them in the recycling bin. Looked at the mess that has accumulated on my unused bench over the winter. Maybe I'll start spring cleaning tomorrow if it's not crappy out.

Gotta keep busier. I can feel myself slowing down, and I'm not gonna let that happen.

Done cows. No more cows. No animals too big to root in the *** to get em moving. And nothing that outweighs me.

Oh yeah, fiddled with joining urethane belting. More to learn.

Almost forgot. Pulled plugged and slimed a tire on the kid's car.

Very nice! I want a ratcheting arbor press someday, but have yet to find a good deal. The decently priced units sell super fast.

I still paid a decent amount for this one
even though it’s not in perfect shape. I
Still paid way less than some that big on
Ebay.

It’s a 15 Ton Dake with 5 coats of paint
the best I can tell, and all that paint had
contributed to it not working properly.
Paint was down in the root of the teeth
so it didn’t allow the pawl to get to the
root of the gear. The pawl also wasn’t
falling in correctly from all the paint
around it and the pawl pin, so i’m
Stripping some of the paint but not
doing a full resto at this point, I just
need it to work correctly right now.

Rebuilding the S&S "E" Carb on the '74 Harley XLCH. This will be the first rebuild since I built the motor back in 2005.

I removed the bottom bowl a couple days ago and started cleaning some of the parts and main jet. Not all parts shown in pic. Still have to pull the top of the carb off the motor and clean it and the jets. Will also remove the intake manifold and replace the gaskets.

Waiting now on an S&S rebuild kit I ordered from J&P Cycle.

It's pretty simple, really. I still need to put some cardboard or plywood across the back and bottom of the front. I'm not sure it's necessary, but there's larger holes down there that the chicks could get through. I also still need to dump some beading in the bottom.

First time trying out the smaller heater to the left. The bigger heat lamp will be used to keep the rest of the cage warmer.

As for the rest of my weekend, I finished cutting and polishing the motorcycle parts I painted Saturday.

It's my first time spraying automotive paint.

Spent time straightening out the wiring on this new-to-me ATV, sorting tons of fasteners in the bolt bins, organizing the garden shed (technically an old 3-room house), and just generally cleaning up the shop this weekend.

Rearranged some stuff around so now one cart is out of the way till I need it, welder is up against a wall, gave me a touch more floor space. Still need to install all my new parts for my F150 to really clear up some space. Also, took the mig gun off my 211, hooked up the spool gun I got from my buddy and put in the first spool it’s ever had in it, took that off and hooked the mig gun back up.

I started hanging some of the MaxLites today! Finally going to get a lighting solution where I can see! Having a single bulb in the center and two side lights aren't cutting it.

I'll grab some images when it's complete.

Maybe goats? Living weed eaters! (they "rent" small herds out around here...)

And you can still get milk and even cheese from them. Meat unless you turn them into pets...

My brother in law called, said he had some pieces stuck together. He is restoring an old rusty lathe a friend at work gave him. I don't really know anything about lathes, but I am familiar with old pieces of metal rusted and stuck together. Some PB Blaster, heat, leverage, various punches, a hammer, some head scratching, a BFH, and it all came apart so it could be cleaned up and used as intended.

I spent most of Sunday moving stuff into the shop... Started with the toolbox, then moved to Hondas... all but the green one drove in under their own power... a couple didn't want to, but they made it :).

Today I did a first crack at organizing the tool box. Still gotta go through the garage box and pull out duplicates and excess stuff, the blue box has much more room for activities than the smaller one in the garage :)

Well yesterday..

Advanced one more step in getting the 67 Camaro back on the road.

I'm finishing a complete brake system overhaul on the four wheel manual drum brakes and the last item is replacing the front-to-rear and rear brake lines.

While I was under the car figuring out what that would entail I got sidetracked by the Lakewood Traction Bars that have been on the car since sometime before I bought it in 1975. Figured I might as well take them off, clean up the axle/rear and clean/paint the traction bars back to their original "Lakewood Yellow" because "why not".

I've got new rubber snubbers and waiting on new "Traction... Action" stickers to make them look like new.

Trying to figure out the best spray can color/brand but going to get a price on powder coating.

Construction Yellow, this Krylon looks about right.

Thanks that looks good, I've been searching car groups for original Lakewood color suggestions and the two I've seen suggested several times are:

John Deere Yellow
https://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-7443830-Specialty-Equipment-Yellow/dp/B0009XB37C

NOW Sunshine Yellow
https://www.amazon.com/Krylon-21206-9-Ounce-Sunshine-Yellow/dp/B000SQMI7E

Some say the oldest Lakewood bars were the lighter color and later ones had a deeper yellow. I'll probably just use the one I can find locally that looks the best to me.

nice. i've been making progress on getting my 67 on the road too. not as long as you, but i've owned it way too long w/o progress. I bought it as a shell. I'm trying to get it mobile and 'around town' worthy on the cheap.

I started with wheel cylinders & a master last spring. It might need lines and hoses before it gets driven in traffic. but the pedal is hard & everything moves as it should right now.

I dropped the old 350 & ST10 4-speed from my 77 Z28 in it, including FW, clutch & bell. a 67 i stripped for parts some 20 years ago has come in key with all sorts of dumb parts on the shelf. So far the only big outlay$ have been for a driveshaft, a shifter to make that st10 work in a 1st gen (bought 2 years ago), and a cheap summit radiator. I even used the old 77 exhaust, just needed $20 in pipe/adapters and cheap summit headers. It ran from the first time in my ownership last weekend. that was cool.

I thought I'd get by with the fuel tank & lines that were in it. When I ran a camera in the tank last summer it looked relatively good inside. 1 gallon of gas saturday night proved that to be a lie lol. some pin holes under a strap. oh well. new tank will be here next week. i'll do a new feed line too while I am there. And the 600 4160 i used to have on the Z leaked, so i just ordered a refresh kit.

Seatbelts from morris classic are next. i want it road worthy by id may when my oldest gets home going to teach him to drive a stick in it. Maybe i'll fix brake lights & turn signals lol. that 55 y/o harness is cripsy.

Wandered down the stairs with the intention of hitting some trim with a second coat of stain for the doorways in the loft, then decided that I wasn't in the mood for the smell of stain. Looked at the wall next to the 3d printer and decided I had enough time to mount the tv next to it to run the raspberry Pi through and see if I could connect to the network.

Sure enough, armed with a new microSD card, I managed to connect the Pi to the printer and the network on the first try (this time, probably the 9th try overall). Then in true Forrest Gump fashion, I figured i'd come this far, I might as well mount the Pi to the printer frame to reduce the chances of it falling and breaking. Once that was finished, I looked at my computer and realized it was time to post on GJ and hit the hay.

Night all!

Your shop vac has SO much hose it needs a winder? Maybe just use a shorter hose and put the vac on wheels?!:eyecrazy:

I wish I had space for a winder. I hate having to roll the vacuum around. It would make things so much easier. Just no open wall space in the right spot.

I've had my eye on this from Rockler for a long time.

I've had the catchy, flippy, tippy, underpowered shopvacs for decades. They don't roll over my rubber work mats very well. Finally repowered my current one with a much more powerful Ametek head, hung it on the wall in a relatively central spot, made it into a cyclone separator, bought a 50' hose, and made a reel. Since my shop is small, and there is limited space, an integrated electric winder is the solution.

The vacuum hose should be attached to the bottom of the shop vac so it rolls around better. Maybe a zip tie holding the hose to one of the wheels? That way it wouldn’t be quite as tippy when you were pulling those.

You can get a new tank for like $80 for a first gen.

Fired up the new AHP 203xi. I've had all versions of the Alphatig 200 series and this one is impressive. Used old cables to test but the new pedal and torch are a nice improvement. So far no smoke or fire but have never had a single problem with any of these.

Its always something I did yesterday when I post here, I am not getting on after quitting for the night to post.

Built a new rear cab mount for the '82 Toyota trail rig, and patched up a rusted out hole to mount it to.

Put together a computer system for garage using an older gaming rig, 50" TV and an under desk slider to hide the keyboard when not in use.

Also, installed a Meross wifi and alexa enabled garage door opener. Paid about $25 for this one compaired to the MyQ system. Plus, this one does not need a yearly subscription to get full functionality.

That's an awesome setup! I actually built a PC for my friend in that same case and its an awesome case to work in
