No pictures, but I managed to get a lot done in 4 hours.

Built 3 more chicken feeders.
Built a large shelf for chemicals.
Hung a larger waterer in the coop.
Took down the temporary paint booth.

I'm not really happy with how much effort the paint booth was to take up and down, so I'll be redesigning it. I think I'm going to try to figure out how to hang one from the rafters using pvc pipe.

Started making my new welding table.

Unlike some of you guys, I don’t have a “shop”, I have a one car garage, that has a car in it, so not a lot of room. I have the HF table now, and have never really liked how it works, or stores.

So, starting with a $25 Craigslist WorkMate 200:

041f7dcd25f8bc8beb2354aced4ab00c.jpg

I removed the top, and the rubber feet, and took it to the car wash to clean off the dirt and ****.

77ab9a1b7db282bebe1817dece8cf96d.jpg

Then I cut, bent, and welded some 3/4” tubing to make a frame.

6a22e02088a3fabfa1fe079b9a4bc590.jpg

I need to pick up some bolts, nuts, and washers to attach it.

The top will be 3” x 1/8”

7d9f5ba888473ca525b1ece774067151.jpg

Not real heavy duty, but good enough for my needs. Folds down nice, and will be hung on the wall to get it off the floor and out of the way when not in use.

Need to grind down the welds, and cut the top pieces. Maybe tomorrow.

Niget - set yourself up with some metal jaws and use the WM vise to hold the the table top, or the part you are fabbing.

Make the WM jaws your "ground"; Then when the table is clamped ITS the ground...

Went up into the attic and cleaned out “stuff”; mostly empty boxes that a lot of different things like cordless tools and other items came in over the last 20 years.

Between my slave driver Billy wanting all the posts finished for the deck (only 22 to go lol) so we can do the cable railings and keeping up with everything else, I haven't been posting up much.

In three days though, this spread has quickly become one of THE most popular Powder **** layouts in my shop's 15 year history with nearly a thousand reactions. It's for a retired Air Force vet who's enjoying the military discount for the second time. I figured you guys and gals might like it too.

I call this "Petty Blue on steroids." It loves lighting and the transitions are intense.

Finally put away some tools that had been accumulating in the car. It'd been too cold and windy lately and I was too lazy to put everything back.

Also added a killswitch to our old rototiller instead of just touching the wire to the frame to ground it out and shut it down lol

Continued finishing a stock off one of my rifles. I’m on the 6th coat of hand rubbed oil. So far it’s looking good.
I figure another week it should be close to being done.
Also found a crack in my 4 x 6 Harbor Freight bandsaw. Got it prepped for welding.
I’ll give it a go. I won’t spend much time trying to weld it. It’s served me well for almost 20 years. But I’ll try .....

Picked up the chain hoist from my moms then put it on the gantry when I got home, realized it had enough chain for a 15-20' lift height! I broke the hand chain with a couple pairs of channel locks and shortened it to a reasonable length then lowered the hook to the floor and climbed up and zip tied the tail of the lift chain up. Tomorrow I'll wire up the spare hand chain to the gantry so I don't do something stupid and use it for something else...

Also I got a call from Harbor Freight that my second 7 drawer end box showed up so I picked that up and put it on the rest of the tool box...

Hopefully I'll have time for the garage today. I still have my brand new tool box and workbench sitting in the boxes they came in last weekend and haven't even had time to open them :(

Over the past few weeks: Restored the pot metal signal light housings on my project car.

Hot water/soap wash, remove overspray from an attempt to undercoat the car, sand blast, fix any corrosion-cancer with 5 minute epoxy, paint with POR 15, replace the reflective interior, test fit in car:

Thanks Jim!! I used it on the Moroso covers that now live on an old famous race car behind ropes at the Petty Museum too. If it's good enough for The King it's good enough for an honored Air Force guy too. Lol!!

Stripped the girls out of their winter hibernation lingerie, aired up their hoops, fired up and warmed their hearts, listened to their glorious spine tingling song and took each on a 10 mile wake up. All casual and relaxed. Just enjoying each other’s company. Longing for the summer ahead....

Today, life is good. I hope yours is too!

Getting my fill in the shop this weekend. Motor out, pan gasket and paint. Light clean up in the motor well with a rattle can. Motor bolted back in, save the easy stuff for the week.

First day of spring and the temps seem to mostly be above freezing for the long term forecast, so I got my little pressure washer out of the mothballs and gave both DD's a quick wash, always nice being able to get rid of the salt at home vs going to the car wash. 393a43b6d68116220fe2728abfd41dca.jpgb5489c71416f73442704442ea09fc176.jpg

Thank you, my wife uses the word ****.

Glider, I unfortunately share your affliction - **** retentive about my cars. Your engine and engine bay look great.

I recently found out about a way to restore plastic like I THINK(?) your brake booster is. If I'm wrong and it's not plastic disregard. There is something called sulfamic acid that restores yellow plastic like that to new appearing white!

This stuff:

No, I haven't used it myself yet but found an example of it online and I was very impressed. Only weirdo's like you and I would probably appreciate this. :dunno::D

Organized my replacement drill bits. Whenever I find some decent drill bits at a garage sale for cheap I pick them up and throw them in a bin. Today I went through the bin of half sets, 1/4 sets and just loose ones. Sorted them all by size, bagged them and got them all in order so it’s easy to find a replacement. Nice lazy day in the garage.

Successfully excavated a giant mud wasp nest from inside the globe of a 64 year old Coleman single mantle lantern in prep to refurbish. Soaking one nut in Kroil to fully disassemble then I need to attack the fuel cap...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Put brakes on the livestock trailer, with my daughter and her friend.

We bought it as a family project a couple years ago, it’s from a time before trailer brakes were really a thing.

Got them wired in, including a new 7 way plug, to replace the old flat 4.

Reverse lights are coming soon, as well as some loading lights.

We will paint it this summer, once my roof nose cone comes in (set to ship first of June, it’s a really long lead time item)

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...

Corrected the winch mounting on this thing yesterday, and really cleaned up the look of the front end in the process. The way it was mounted before, it was really only useful for raising and lowering the snow plow (which I don't expect I'll use often/at all). Now it's actually functional for recovery.
