Snap On socket holders KTA 230 (1959), KTR 231 (1957) and KTR-240 (1957)
I wonder how common are those - do not see too many around

And for comparison my older Snap On Socket holder with 1944 (with few 1955) 1/2 drive. It has different color and is not marker with model or date on the bottom. It came with mostly 1944 sockets (I added some)

The sizes I have: 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 25/32, 13/16, 7/8,15/16, 1, 1 1/8, 1 1/4 (+ 1 3/16 which is not a part of the set)
SW 180 (9/16), SW -220 (11/16), SW-260 (13/16) will eventually need to be changed from 1945 to 1944
The socket to the right of the set is SW-380 (1 3/16 from 1944 which was not part of the kit but I got it since there was a size missing prior to 1 1/4 and I decided that I should get them all

...Before somebody mentions the extra sizes which exist in /32
19/32 SW-190
21/32 SW-210 (Not sure, but I assume that it exists)
25/32 SW-250 (have this one in the set)
29/32 SW-290

If I go by catalog from 1945 they produced the following models:
SW- 120, 140, 160, 180, 190, 200, 220, 240, 250, 260, 280, 190, 300, 320, 340, 360, 380, 400
Based on the models they offered in 1945 there were 3 sets:
SW-1500 (all minus 120, 290, 380 and 15-B tray)
SW-1200 (140-320 minus 290 and 5-B tray
SW-1000 (140-280 in 5-B tray)

Based on the fact that I had 400 in the set, I most likely have SW-1500 set ...
If it's true I still need to find SW-190 (19/32), SW-240 (3/4), SW-340 (1 1/16)

Does anybody have 1944 catalog to make sure the sets were the same?

21/32 does exist, though possibly not in 1944. It fit Ford connecting rods for model A. It is an S9003.

Thank you, Ricky Joe. It did not exist in 1945 - I hope somebody has a catalog from 1944 though

Does anyone know what the flag display code was for the British Empire at that time? They may have had a different take on display.
Sergeant at Arms, Royal Canadian Legion here.

Vertical hanging of the Red Ensign as that flag is known would have had the normal top of the flag hang on the left side. Protocol would have it on the highest mast if grouped with other flags and oriented so that the intended audience saw the Union Jack corner set upper left.

It is rarely displayed although I do fly it at home on days where we remember our families' member who fell and those that served and returned. It is always flown in the colour parties I have led on November 11th.

Sadly it regularly gets mixed up with the Ontario flag. Few people recognize it.

We will remember them.

Thank you, Lugz. I got my information from Q and assumed that there might have been something prior.

Three types of bent handle offset pull bars. Would date 1920-23. Two pinch, Four pinch, two ball stops.

...work some restoration magic on the nicks and scratches and gouges in the black composite handles...

What do you guys use to clean, minimize scratches and restore some shine to your Oct~Grip handles? I'm looking for some ideas.

Only a Corvair Forward Control (Van or Pickup). The passenger cars don’t have any clutch head screws.

Snap-on No F-5 3/8" sliding breaker bar. Stamped Ferret, no date code. Appears to be 1930s from the logo. Turned up in a small box I just bought.

Found this Midget spinner handle at the flea market this AM. Looks all the world to say either PM-4, or M-4, which M-4 I thought was a wood handle. This is the amber handle which I believed to be M-40. Is the "P" part of the model #? or some date or other code? Apologies for the tough photo. I am always hesitant to clean clean tools I plan on selling, preferring to leave that to the new owner.

Power sockets for power tools, like nut runners in assembly line work. Snap On’s line of power drive tools was to go with those sockets, and they had the locking pin feature. Different from impacts, but more of a plain finish rather than chrome.

Thanks to you and OTG for the input. Didn't last long on Ebay, so I reckon that someone knew what they were looking at (for)

A quick catalog search on the collecting Snap-On, from 1955 thru 1960 site has left me curious. I have a 1958 OEX-13M Metric Combination wrench with 1958 date code. Wondering when the earliest metric examples are known in this type of wrench. Clearly they weren't selling enough of them in the late 50s to warrant any part of a catalog page.......

Would be 1948 or after. Thats when the Snap on logo was started to be used in place of the Blue Point logo. Same tool, just a new name.

Thanks, Snapmom. I guess my question sort of remains, though. Looking back at the 1948 catalog, when combos were stamped as Blue-Point, they still don't refer to any metric in their catalog (at least not with the other combination wrenches, not even a caveat to inquire to factory or sales rep, which I find a little strange.

Do you know when they started making metric wrenches, and how they might have marketed them out to the public?

Was it strictly a European/British thing to start, and trickled back to the U.S. eventually?

Snap on metric wrenches would have been made starting in about 48. could be into the 50s. they had a separate catalog for metric and whitworth. The 38 and 39 cat has them, but they do not show up again until about the 1960 cat.

There is no exact date for the conversions to S/O some models would have been later, and you probably could find some SO and BP models with the same date codes.
here are some Blue Point metric wrenches with later date code even a 61.
I do collect BP metric wrenches, the combination wrenches are very hard to find.

Here is a couple of Snap on metric sockets. no date codes Tapered, no knurling, 12 point. 1/2 drive This shape, with the style logo would date to about 1929, but you do see the same thing in some special sockets into the 40s. So I am just stumped about these two.

Thanks again for all your expertise. I'll keep an eye out up here in the Motor City, as some of that stuff can turn up, being the arsenal of Democracy that it was.

Yeah it’s too bad. Hopefully if someone gets it they can make it closer to what it should look like.
