I remember Miami Vice being a very different show. There were no hills or mountains behind California Fan Palms and the streets were recognizable to a South Florida resident. I don't think they expected the show to be a big hit so the Ferrari Daytona Spyder was actually a fiberglass re-body of a C3 Corvette. I thought about building one but my Corvette is a coupe with T-tops and not easily re-bodied into a convertible. Fifteen Emmy Award nominations the first season and a lawsuit from Ferrari meant the Ferravette was retired and replaced with a real Testarossa early in season 3. I personally thought the Daytona replica was better looking.
Bob, I know where there is a stack of new C3 chassis (chassises?) and all the molds/plugs for the 365GTB4 cabriolet, in Broward County FL. The guy who owns the stuff bought the items from the guy who got sued by Ferrari. It's just sitting in storage, I've seen it. He was a provider of services to the show, and some acquaintances of mine worked for him.
My neighbor 2 homes away from us in Broward, was a cinematographer for the show (Miami Vice) Another guy who is a good friend of mine is a union production person, for cinematography, his gig is to ensure continuity/prevent errors when they pause filming, once they start-shooting again. He's worked on all-sorts of tv shows and movies.
My across the street Broward County neighbor owns a restaurant on Hollywood Beach (FL) which has been used by the tv and movie industry. Body Heat used it where the William Hurt character met the Kathleen Turner character, where she lured him in to kill her rich husband.

I'd expect that Beverly Hills/Bel Air, and Los Angeles and NYC would probably be the most-filmed cities.
