Most people are trying to figure out how to make their workbenches bigger for more projects, and her you are cutting them in half!! LOL
Floor space is a nice thing to have though. I bet there isn't one person on the GJ that wishes they had less.

I have a large table that I have co side red cutting in half, don’t think I could make the other half go away, but it would be cool to have it so I could split it up when not needed.
Glad the plasma cutter worked out, is someone taking the other half? Anyone we know?

That’s the idea, having two halves allow for different configurations. On the leftover, maybe a ride in the Astro with the ladies. no regrats! Just saying.

I figured you measured wrong so I reversed the numbers.
The single big bench is making way for a pair of more mobile steel top benches.

I’ve been on a slight detour. Pulled up carpet at mom’s. 
I did get a new tip for plasma cutter and tried it out on the plate for one of the vises. Cutter works better but still trying to figure it out. Forgot a pic. Did figure out Florida Safety Shoes aren’t necessarily the best plasma cutting footwear. Tomorrow I’ll try out some aluminum foil over the shoes.
Saturday I’ll be meeting up with Mr. enabler which will get last weekend’s project moving forward.

More progress. Finished up the receiver mount on the drum stand. 
Took the base off the vise so I could better use it as template.
3/8” plate is a tad thick for this plasma but got it done. Plate was tapped for 1/2” bolts. 
Looks like I’ll need a different wheel setup.
Last up, I reassembled the laptop cart since Craig and I weren’t able to meet up. Cart is only to hold future weld table top so I can move forward with cutting up big *** bench.

It appears someone missed, was sleeping or playing on their phone during the “Proper Use of Bandsaw” safety class. So here’s the remedial class.
To avoid injury such as getting fingers pinched by stock, always clamp stock in a V-block or vise.

Shorty, last week I held a class on how to fold up and engine hoist that resulted in several stitches. I didn't post about it as I had figured everyone had already taken that class. I guess that makes us even for the proper use of the bandsaw class.

There was a guy I knew, he was missing a couple fingers on one hand, one day I decided to ask him about it. He told me years ago he cut a finger off using a table saw, he said he was yelling and swearing about it right after it happened. Then he said it happened a second time years later and he had yelled “not again!”. I would think losing a finger to a table saw would make you extra careful, but maybe in his mind he had plenty of extra ones????

Just a touch of a table saw blade on the end of a finger ending in 4 stitches, was enough for me.
On the band saw it wasn’t the blade, it was the material twisting and pinching my finger. Now I will admit I’m slow on using a vise to hold irregular stuff on band saw.
Gotta go move a battery box now.

Today was full of QST. A friend needed some work on his smoker. Had a hole for a burner that needed patched. 
A replacement grease bucket hook.
and a grate for the fire box. 
We also tried our hand at fabbing some stabilizer bars for his 3-point hitch.
Holes needed to be 3/4” so drilled to 1/2” and he was going to waller out. I then thought I’d try a step bit which struggled but worked. After two holes, I remember my bimetel hole saws. HF Warrior brand and it worked great in the DP.
The borrowed plasma cutter is coming in real handy. Guess one will go on my Santa list.

Welded up another accessory for the multipurpose stand. 
Since we didn’t get a sharp, consistent bend in the stabilizer bars, I decided to knock out a long awaited little project, a heavy duty break for flat bar.
. I had about 3” of welding left to do when the new roll hit it’s end. The other role lasted several years, this one 5-6 weeks. Guess it’s time to step up to the big roll. Last on the list and the goal for today was the big asre bench demolition. Some plasma and cut off wheel, done. They used flat bar for the top so I will use the plasma to cut the 10 ga top away from the flat bar.
Floor! I can see floor!!!!!
especially after sweeping 5 lbs of dust, dirt and metal up.

I bet your efficiency in the shop is going to increase with those safety shoes... not only will productivity increase from you knowing your feet are protected, but you will also have advanced mobility being able to slide back and forth between workstations with ease!

Another day of QST. First up was putting the 11# role in the welder. So I have one of those SO weld Spool Wrenches (BR-459) I found this. 
. A bandsaw, wire wheel and EXL wheel, and ended up with this fine specimen

The lift coming in handy again. 
Nice working at a comfortable level or having a floor jack lose pressure. Because of the way the cabinet was configured, I had to tap holes for the swivel casters. This setup sure makes tapping a successful task.
Plates and casters installed and painted.
Prototyping one drawer for grinders. I’ve got to figure out how to do clean cuts at back of shelves.
