What are people's views on the NewAge outdoor cabinets? Are experience with them? How do they hold up to the elements? What kind of quality? How thick are they and how does construction compare to the garage versions?

I just got mine delivered this week and I am quite impressed by the quality and heft. I have the Pro series. There are only a couple of complaints if I have to nit pick. Some of the hardware such as the nylock nuts are pure garbage, when tightening them, they start to spin and you cannot tighten or remove them, without cutting off the nut. Was using them to attach several uppers to each other. After 2 of them did that a quick trip to the hardware store to get some decent ones.

The second complaint is on the roll cart, the rubber just stinks to high heaven, even after airing them out for 2 days laying in the driveway, the smell is not any better. They will go in the trash and I will get something else.

Finally some of the aluminum trim has some scratches on it, not bad, but nonetheless. In any case, I am happy enough that I just placed another order to of 1 locker and a set of drawers base cabinet. I was short, but wanted to see how things turned out before spending even more money. I ended up buying the new order via Lowes and was able to use my military discount for an additional 10% off.

I love mine. The handles on the drawers did have a few scratches and one was bent. I just moved it to the bottom and rarely notice it. Returning or exchanging is just to much of a pain.

I agree returning/exchanging would be too much of a pain for minor flaws, but I've read comments from people saying that NewAge has sent parts or replacements after the customer sends them a picture of the damage.

Yes, take pictures and they will send you new parts. They might not even pick up the old parts. They sent me platinum doors when I ordered a gray locker, says to keep them, and sent me new ones. They sent me a damaged locker and then sent me a new frame and shelves (doors were ok on that one) and said to throw out the damaged parts.

Hi everyone,

I got my NewAge Cabinets on Monday. I didn't know about garagejournal earlier and since I ordered on Cyber Monday of 2020, Dirty was out of the market by then. I'd heard about the cabinets from the garageporn subreddit. I wrote a couple of guys with Lamborginis and Porsches, figuring that if they posted their photos, they must be good cabinets and they confirmed it. Going to have to thank them next.

I *strongly* urge that anybody who wants sets call, not order off the web site. For example, the setup below cost the same as the setup with only two upper cabinets but with a base cabinet with two doors instead of five drawers. I preferred both base cabinets to have five drawers and I got the undercounter storage space back with the two free upper cabinets. Also, when I ordered, the set I wanted was only available in red or two-tone gray/black and I wanted black, but the representative was able to specify that for me. I always dread phone reps, but even with their (often) heavy accents, the reps I have dealt with are fine.

I'm glad I got the Pro series. It seems well built and heavy.

There were some glitches from the shippers. First, the shipper was supposed to delivery two weeks ago but called the morning of delivery to say that the driver freaked out when he saw how steep my driveway was and left without our load. Well, I know my driveway is steep so even though I paid for white glove delivery, my carpenter and I were waiting to help them (it's not our first time at the rodeo). Alright, so now I had to pay him for a day of work since he couldn't just up and go somewhere else. Luckily we had a couple of other things for him to do in the garage in preparation so we did that and we were much more ready as a result. We must have been the first or second stop for the truck on Monday. The driver and sidekick weren't the brightest and we told them they'd help but they waved us off until they were in the area on the 18% grade and getting into trouble with one of the big locker cabinets. So we ran over and helped them, but the top of the cabinet got banged on the driveway anyway. I called NewAge to let them know. They said they could send a replacement (no word on whether I could keep this one) or give me $250 and I just figured I didn't want to deal with it so I took the $250. We pounded the dents out pretty well. I'll see it, but if you visit, chances are you won't.

I'm about 70% of the way to being done in the photo. We ran out of time to install the two lofts we bought and we have to reorganize (and sell) some of the bike gear. I also want to have a rolling workbench so that I can work outside in the summer. Also there is no safe way to use my compound miter saw on that shallow worktop, let alone my drill press. I have 56" of space that I can use under the right countertop, although I have a height constraint. I didn't want to wall mount all of my cabinets, but the concrete floor at the back wall is over an 1" higher than it is at the front of the cabinets so while the front feet are maxxed out, the back feet are all the way up. In fact, due to this situation, I'm going to have to rip the bamboo countertop on a table saw because the slatboard that is supposed to fit on top of the countertop extends 1.5" below it!

Anyway, so what that means is that I have only 35 1/2" of clearance for whatever cabinet I put under the countertop on the right. I could get a black pro series rolling cabinet, that would fit fine even with a 1" countertop, but that looks different enough from the Pro series that I'm thinking of just skipping the long wait and buying a rolling Craftsman bottom cabinet.

I noticed a lot of reposts in this thread, but I'm new here, is it bad form to repost this elsewhere? It might get a different set of eyes there.

Looks good! I have 29’ of New Age Pro. Since I bought, they have come out with a 42” base 5 drawer. I would love to get a pair of those to replace 3 of my 26” five drawers under one of my countertops. They would hold some of my longer tools and hold some collections all in one drawer, like sockets/ratchets and wrenches, that are currently spread out over 2 or 3 drawers each.

Oof, I tried to post this before and got a notice that the message is too short and then lost it (second time that has happened here). Ok, I ordered a bunch of Akro-Mills bins for my NewAge slatwall from Amazon and they didn't fit at all and now have to go back. Is there a good third-party source for NewAge slatwall-compatible products? Lowe's doesn't have anything at all.

So speaking of slatwall…

But before that, we installed the first of the two lofts today. It's really nice, although the one disappointment was the crosspiece supports which should have been made of two pieces crossing in the middle but were made of four pieces (why? why?). Whatever, it's up and looks really nice. The smaller one is left for tomorrow.

IMG-6638.jpg

Back to the slatwall. I thought I followed the directions to the letter and the slatwall extends over an inch below the bamboo countertop. The bottoms of the lockers and the base cabinets are perfectly aligned and the top of the lockers and the top of the upper cabinets align perfectly, so something is up. Unless maybe the slatwalls are designed for the base cabinets without the countertop? I don't get it. The only thought we've had is that if we flip the slatwall upside down, and get rid of the top piece, we could probably get it behind the bamboo countertop without having to rip anything off the countertop.

Any ideas?

Could you clarify what you mean by this?

Here is the 7 piece set I think you're describing above (2 upper cabinets, a 2-door base cabinet, and a 5-drawer base cabinet) for $2250...
7-Piece New Age Set

Here is the 10-Piece set you have, priced at $2650...
10-Piece New Age Set

Are you saying the phone rep gave you a $400 discount off your set, just because you called?

Yes. Caveat. I bought on Cyber Monday, but yes, the rep gave me a fantastic deal in my eyes.

I can't say how much the 7 piece set was on Cyber Monday, but this is what I paid for. Note also the huge cost reductions because I purchased the other items at the same time. Sorry, I tried hard to line this up and it didn't work.

Thanks for this info. It is very helpful.
So you saved about $500 off the 10-piece set, which is a great deal. Though like you said, part of that may have been driven by purchasing all of the other items.

Also, what was your experience with the "white glove" delivery?
Do you think it was worth the $199 cost?

I am thinking of buying 3 30" bold lockers since it looks like newage is having a sale until tonight. Will I be disappointed with the Bold compared to the pro? I do not do serious work in my garage. Just looking for basic storage. But this stuff is still expensive compared to gladiator, etc so I dont want to be disappointed when it comes. I do have one gladiator RTA cabinet that is OK so as long as it is as nice as that I would be happy.

Also, has anyone bought from garagereserve.com? I saw they were running additional 5% coupon code, but I am worried about customer service if there is a damaged piece. Or would it still come directly from newage?

Hey,

We are fairly new. We launched in July of 2020 however customer service is a priority for us. All NewAge cabinets ship directly from a NewAge warehouse.

Hope this helps. Send us an email. We'll get you our lowest price for any garage cabinet you'd like to purchase (that goes for anything on our website)

There are no white gloves, but the guys will deliver the cabinets to you and take off most of the cardboard. In my case they left the pallets, which they weren’t supposed to, but I have a place I can use them, so that’s fine. They did *not* unpack anything from inside the cabinets.

You’d have to make you own calculations, but here is why I did it and (I guess) I’d do it again. I have a steep driveway with an 18% grade at one point. I have a carpenter who can help me, but a full loaded locker cabinet (with a base cabinet and multiple upper cabinets inside) weighs over 500 pounds and that’s tough for two guys to maneuver down a driveway.

Now I could have taken everything out at the top, but when I ordered the cabinets I knew the weather could be sketchy and indeed, on the day that we installed we got some snow. I’ve attached a photo for your amusement. Having to disassemble everything up top and bring it down immediately would have been a bit of a drag.

Proving my point that two people could not handle a fully loaded cabinet on my driveway, the shippers damaged the top of one cabinet (see above post). Since they did that, I got $250 back from NewAge and, having pounded out the dent, we don’t see it anymore. Your mileage may vary. I could also have asked for a new cabinet and I would likely have been able to keep the old one, but whatever, $250 worked for me. With the $250 off, I got $50 back after white glove service. Of course had I done it myself, I wouldn’t have gotten a penny back, I would have just kicked myself.

Ordered my 16 piece pro in November and added the 4-32” set of wall cabinets. Still waiting. Talked to customer service 3 weeks ago and Justin supposedly had it all straightened out. Immediately released.....still no cabinets this week. Customer service again Thursday and she said she would call the warehouse and get right back to me. No call or email. Called again Friday...different gal. Said she would call the warehouse and get right back to me.....no call or email. The saga continues.....[emoji849]

I ordered 2 sets of the 12piece set from Costco on sale at $1499.. man I really do not like these.

I buy & sell used Vidmars on the side and I regret not just going that route.

I did not realize that the bamboo top comes in two 48" length pieces. My plan is to not use the tall cabinets to support the bamboo top, so I need to get some legs like these.

I see you bought the bold series vs. the pro series. I have quite a few Lista cabinets and now have some Pro cabinets and while they are not the same quality, nor price, the pro series NA cabinets are pretty darn nice.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience with the Bold cabinets. I found a guy with a Lamborghini and a Porsche who had proudly posted his Pro series on Reddit and he made a point of telling me not to get the Bold. I’m super happy with my Pro series.

I’ve posted on a separate thread, but if anybody knows where to get the slatwall accessories online piece by piece, I’d love to hear about it.

I see I need to post a photo now that the whole project is done. I’ll pull out the cars on a day when it’s not raining and will do.

Are you still waiting? I ordered in November (directly from NewAge) and delivery was estimated February 10-16th 2021. As of today, I've heard nothing and received no communication since the single e-mail I got after placing the order. I've been busy with other stuff so my first follow-up was today. We'll see.

Can someone with the pro series measure the height of the cabinets? I want to wall mount so I don't need the legs. My ceiling is a touch over 83" and the height listed on the newage site i'm pretty sure includes the legs.

The large storage locker/cabinet height without the bolt on legs and adjustable feet is 80". Let me know if you need any other dimensions.

Thanks guys. Looks like I can get the pro line. I just started looking into these last week. Is newage the type of company that always has a sale or is it worth it to jump on the current deal? The set I’m looking at is 500 off at the moment.

I need some talking down. I own an 8-piece Bold set and it currently serves my purposes just fine. There is a pretty good deal on a 10-piece Pro set that is giving me an itchy trigger finger. I don't need the extra space that the Pro set offers right now, but it may very well come in handy in the future. I crunched the numbers and the cost per cubic foot of my Bold set was $18.15. The Pro set is $20.33/ft³ so the difference is not significant although the total cost of the Pro set itself is just over double due to the storage space being nearly double.

I think you have come to the wrong place to be talked off a ledge.....this is garage journal afterall.

Ya I know - wishful thinking. I had a hard time bringing myself to spend the money on the Bold set and now I'm considering spending twice that. Upgrading wasn't even a distant thought a few days ago, but I'm a sucker for a good deal.

https://www.costco.ca/newage-produc...piece-grey-cabinet-set.product.100383996.html

I've never seen this set listed on Costco's Canadian website and all of a sudden it pops up listed at the same price as it is on the .com site even though the Canadian dollar is worth $0.80usd. With the exchange rate, the $2500cad costco.ca price is equivalent to $1991usd.

Does anyone know if this set commonly goes on sale at Costco.com and at what price it goes to?

I like the shallower cabinets. I find the deep cabinets just end up with stuff behind stuff and just makes it harder to find stuff. If you don't have the liner wall space for more cabinets then you dont have the choice if you need the volume.

I ordered 157 days ago and still have not received anything from NewAge.

Got them in and I do love them. Off the floor is awesome and easy to clean. Mounted high enough to store my floor jack under. It was always tough to put away. Created a cordless tool charging and storage cabinet area as well. That was HUGE improvement over previous. 8 new dedicated 20 amp circuits and a 220 heater circuit. Self retracting air, power and 1300w drop light reels. 50’ vacuum hose reel w/ remote power at the end of the hose. [emoji106]AHHHHHH. Finally. IMG_9928.jpgIMG_9927.jpg

I got my Bold cabinets in back at the end of March. I ordered back in January, but the company I ordered through was good about keeping me updated on the ship date. They told me beginning of April, so they were good on their estimate.

I installed them on the wall. I want everything up off the floor or on wheels wherever possible. I drop hardware all the time, and hate having to fish it out from under things. Plus, this makes cleaning much easier. I used a 2x4 ledger into the studs with Spax lag bolts. For the locker cabinets, I used a 1/8" steel flat bar with Spax screws into the studs to spread out the load. I don't intend on loading these cabinets up to max weight capacity, so I have no concerns about them handling my usage. The work top is my light work surface (assembly, cleanup, etc.). I have a heavy bench for attaching a vise, banging on things, and the like. The big bench in this picture is going to replace with a bench mounted to the wall.

I am happy with the Bold line, and I love the white/platinum color combo. The rolling carts are a little light-weight. I will probably add a heavier duty roller cabinet for the drill press so it is less wobbly...

Have a Pro 7-piece set on the way, thanks to this thread. We have a 300' gravel driveway, uphill in the middle. I've read the entire thread and done other searching, but I'm still not quite sure the best way to get the cabinets from the curb to my garage. Hope some of you who have been through this can help. Seems best option is if I luck out and truck is small enough to convince driver to drop at garage. Beyond that, I'm not sure. Are the 310 lb tall cabinets manageable on a hand truck? I could rent a trailer, unpack at curb onto trailer? Not sure about the big cabinets though. Any advice?

36" W x 24" D x 80" H (cabinet frame) 83.25" to 84.75" H (with levelling legs)
So with the legs you can snug it right to the ceiling if you wanted. Definitely limit the chance of them toppling over if you didn’t secure them to the wall. As long as your floor and ceiling are perfectly level. All you need is that 1/4” over 83”.
I just placed some pics on my garage build site this evening. Here are a couple that I had included.
