The truck has 252k and I don’t care about the engine. I will probably run it as is, pan shouldn’t be tough to remove, but this is one situation that could help me out, while driving this I won’t have as much pressure……

With all the money you have ******* in Burbs, why not buy a new truck with a cap and be done with it? I used to buy used trucks for my business, fix them up, rebuilt ******, rebuilt engines, fix front end etc. They worked ok but by the time I had them done they still weren't as reliable as a new one. Now I buy a new one, wear it out and trade it. Of course right now you can't find a new truck around here so........

Makes for easier transportation to Maine, seller is a used car salesman and says he will be available Monday at 8AM. Might be an early morning for me........

I agree, check the oil pressure with a gauge. Then change oil to 10-30, 15-40, 20-50, whatever you decide and see what difference it makes. you are headed into summer so the higher viscosity will not be an issue with cold starts. This will gwt you through the warm weather and maybe further.

I have plenty of cheap 15w40, probably give it a shot, but if this other burb (of course it is white!) happens, then it might not matter at all.

Someday I will take you up on that offer. I feel like I will have to make a US GJ tour, that will probably be next year at this point, but it would be fun for sure!

I am over at the Salvage Garage swapping Bev out for the Alaska Burb, I really think that just running the Alaska Burb is the best thing for me to do. While it needs a transmission, it is 4x4 has 3.73 gears with a posi rear end and is probably one of my worst possible color combinations, this way I will keep it running, but would never want to make it perfect, as even if I did do a full restoration, I would still hate it. White 1/2 ton 350 with gold trim, tan interior = yucky for me. This makes it a perfect DD and because it is 4x4, it will work year round. This means I don’t need another Burb at all. So now I have to decide what is happening with all of them, going to be some serious decisions in the next week or so.

Because GM stopped building full sized SUVs in 2000. They started making big cars that re useless for work. You haven't been able to buy a 3/4 ton or a diesel Suburban since then. I have used both trucks with caps and Suburbans, I will never go back to a truck with a cap.

Well, not totally true, they made real 3/4 ton burbs until 2014, they are just very hard to find with barn doors. There were even some special order 3500 burbs. People convert the 2500s to duramax diesels and sell them for double what a duramax pickup truck sells for. I eventually want to build a 3/4 ton duramax avalanche, but I figure that will be another few years down the road.

As I am sitting in the Alaska Burb, I was looking at my sea of subs and then I remembered that the North Dakota Burb (black, but with tan interior) has kind of been circumvented by this new Florida black Burb. That could be an interesting turn of events, I would prefer to drive one that is black than either and gold. It has about as much rust repair needed as the Alaska Burb, I will have to weigh out the pros and cons of each and see what makes sense to do. I am also going to do a full assessment of the white diesel Burb I bought this winter, it needs an engine for certain, but I never got to put it in the lift and properly assess the underside. If it only needed minimal work, I would probably roll with that as it is a 3/4 ton and diesel, plus the interior is pretty clean.

So many options!

That green Burb on bring a trailer auction is at $15k with an hour to go.

I need to get the white 454 fixed and sold!

Drove Guido out of the SG and took it for a spin around the yard, seems to go just about everywhere except the obvious sand pit areas. I am slightly impressed, might still have a home yet. Need to fix the hydraulic leak and the squealing belts, maybe the brakes too. ;) I am going to list it on marketplace for $3000 and see if I get any bites, if I can get more than $2k I will sell it, if not it is useful enough that I will keep it around for a bit. Ultimately I need another Clark or something similar, I have to bring Clark back over here for a couple weeks, the mud is almost gone, so I can start bring things from out back to the front area.

Yup, I have to get that 454 fixed and ready to go. I am putting it on that site too, seems like people with money go there to buy.

I thought they made suburbans until 13 but I assume they no longer make them? I work out of a 2500hd extended cab, 8ft bed with a Reading Aluminum tool body. I guess it depends what you are using the vehicle for. If you like suburbans and they work for you and Strouty I guess its the way to go. I wouldn't want the hassle of always working on an old beater. I have a 95 GMC 3500hd, its a bucket truck, I generally have to work on it every time I use it, its a pain but I do it as its a 2000 mile per year vehicle. My service truck is 35,000 mile a year vehicle.

Back at the SG, picking up one more Burb, last one for tonight. This is the last of the runners (minus my official snowplow), once we have better plans, I may bring the non runners up to the Hill, but one at a time so they can be dealt with properly.

Made a dent in the burbs, still have 7 at the SG, guess that means there are 7 at the Hill. All the ones at the SG are either black or white, monochromatic action. ;)

I counted wrong, there are 7 and a half at the SG and 6 at Hill, so I don’t quite have 14, for some reason I thought the newest one was number 13, guess I can’t count, or I am forgetting about one.

There are three types of people; the ones who can count and the ones who can not.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

I bought a van for $300 that is gold with a ugly tan interior. It was going to get it's blown transmission replaced with one I had, then once sorted and reliable, get the whole subchassis put into a clean black/gray van I have.
A different van ended up getting rear ended hard, so it's lower mileage subchassis got swapped in instead.

I just pounded out some of the hardest miles I've ever put on any van with that ugly gold van towing and hauling multiple loads in the last 4-6 weeks. After a very short time you quit worrying about what color it is and just appreciate it working well for you. It's been so reliable that I still haven't finished sorting out the beautiful black/grey one 2 years later. It sits yet.

Rust is terrible, as for that particular Yukon, it is a tailgate, plan is to salvage all good parts, then try and find a donor gas job to make a replica of the original. I think that is what I am going to do with all the diesels that I have. I can see that there will be a market for them, horsing them won’t seem so dumb when they might make a $10k profit later. I have seen a few rebuilt ones sell for mid $20k range, would be kind of cool to do one or two a year for fun. I plan on collecting many more diesels, also I will probably start buying and scraping regular gas jobs, saving all the important pieces. Up here we rot, but our interiors don’t usually get quite as destroyed. Plus having certain things in original paint is nice, Like fender bolts and hood hinges. Stuff that today seems stupid to save will be very valuable later on, I just need a good system to store it while still being able to find it later.

I didn't think they made the 3/4 ton after 2000. I don't any of them after the gmt400 because they are ugly.

Sounds like you need to get a parts storage system set up and spend a week stripping Burbs. When I find a car I like, I tend to do that. Back in the 70's, it was Bugs. In the 80's it was Ford Fiestas (God I miss those), and in the 00's it was 1st Gen Saturns (best car ever built). When I had the Fiestas, I could almost build you 2 cars from all the spares I had (no floor pans), and everything fit in one 8'x8' shed. I can strip a Saturn, Bug, or Fiesta down in one evening, to the point where other than the engine, you can carry everything by yourself, including cutting the body shell into small pieces.

Does it have the black bumpers?

I will get right on the shipping containers and Lista cabinets!

As for the 2 door, you really don't understand this "rust thing" do you???? :dunno:

There is pretty much some plastic and chrome left, but most of the metal is long gone. :(

Strouty, he’s from Florida, where salt goes in out margaritas, not the roads.:lol_hitti
It does look pretty good in the picture I seen, although it is from a distance.
