20210322-01.jpg 20210322-02.jpg

The weather was outstanding here this morning and that allowed me to give the Blasting Cabinet Wheel Kit weldments a good wipe down with some acetone and then take them outside for an application of primer.

20210322-03.jpg

While these items would probably have been fine outside, I brought them into the LBG to keep some bird from making a nest inside one of the "feet".

It's that time of the year when I have to keep the house garage doors closed to keep birds from making nests inside so I think the birds would have turned my project into a condominium in short order had I left it outside.

These parts should be ready for some grey paint in a couple of days.

we've got hornets that make their hives and nests so to speak almost anywhere and sometimes they get the size of Basketballs. I guess this year we are supposed to be on the lookout for Murder Hornets that kill honey bees.

looks like you are making nice progress with those extra saturdays.

also looks like you were able to get on a plane and see your dad too.

looks like we are having a good 2021 so far so hope the politicians don't screw it up.

cheers!!!

DrivesItFar,

Thanks for stopping by!

The wasps & hornets haven't been too active yet but it won't be long - the birds are going nuts right now though. It's amazing how quickly they can construct a nest once they put their mind to it.

I remember doing a preflight when I was in the Navy stationed just a bit north of Philadelphia. It was the spring of 1985 and as I was doing the airplane walkaround of my P3 I noticed a small bird fly out of the top of the rudder hinge line. I called a maintenance tech to take a look. He got in a cherry picker type machine and moved his bucket up to the area I had seen the bird. The next thing i knew, he was pulling a handful of sticks and grass out of that location.

I wasn't expecting that. HA!

My primer should be dry tomorrow so I should be able to paint my "Wheel Kit".

However I got a response from TP Tools regarding my query on "What kind of paint is it?" I had sent that question about the paint order I had received that matched the Skat Blast gray color.

The response indicated it was a pre-thinned HAP Free Acrylic Enamel. I was thinking this paint probably would not work that well with a brush.

51SAFmUhH8L._AC_SL1000_.jpg

I just ordered this Preval 2-Pack from Amazon. I should get it on Friday. If it works, this should be just the thing to apply my Skat Blast paint to the "Wheel Kit".

Best regards,

Scott

Scott, your photo of the Preval sprayer brought back memories from years ago. We used to use those when I started at Boeing and continued for years.
Eventually they were worried about chromate exposure when used with aircraft primers. :badteeth: So they went bye-bye. They sure were handy though.
Your wheel project is looking good.

I'm positive the public and the airline industry will miss your professionalism flying folks all over the world. that could have been horrible if you didn't see the bird nest before taking off?

speaking of flying do you miss the old job much?

best of luck with those little sprayers that I've never seen before. I have heard of another option that some paint stores can put whatever paint you wish in a spray can, but i've never asked or tried that.

good luck!!

Scott, I am worried about the way you are attaching your feet to your sand blaster. I think that you need to add some extra bolts to you design. I suggest you put some thru the bottom angle of the cabinet into the horizontal section of the roller frame.
View media item 111246I think that thecurrent design will just pull you 1/4" bolts apart, if not right away, then if you hit any bumps rolling it.

I hope I was helpful.

Jay,

That was good to hear that Boeing actually used the Preval system and that you found them useful.

The reviews on Amazon were sorta bar-bell shaped: Either it worked or it didn't.

I suspect that a REALLY viscous liquid (house paint) would have a tough time getting sucked through the tube and being successfully sprayed.

I think my paint will be pretty thin.

Scott

DrivesItFar,

I suspect that the birds would have had a bad day and that would have been that. However, it was best it wasn't in there and that prevented any issues from causing a jammed control surface.

I'm not missing the job... Since I was a big fan of a good layover, I think it would be unpleasant to fly all night to get to one of the great cities of the world and then have to be stuck in my room for 24 hours. I don't know if it's that bad now but for a while I think the crews were basically under house arrest. No thanks - HA!

I am looking into what I'd have to do to get a Private Pilot License. I imagine I have skills that are perishable and perhaps it would be good to keep practicing ...I might find it useful to fly to Indiana to visit relatives instead of driving.

I too had heard that it was possible to get paint from a paint store put into a rattle can. That's what I was looking for when I came across the Preval system.

Best regards,

Scott

That was very helpful. I too am wondering if those few bolts will be up to the task.

Skat-Blast-Standard-Cabinet-Wheel-Kit-Fits-28-D-Cabinets_6120-28_L_25c1d8b6.jpg

TP Tools (Skat Blast store front) has the above Wheel Kit available. The metal they use is 14 gauge and it looks like they might use 8 fasteners.

I'm hoping my 1/4-inch thick Angle Iron, will carry the load on the bottom "shelf" and if the single bolt (mostly in tension) will keep the Angle Iron snuggly against the bottom of the Blasting Cabinet's Frame that it will work.

There will be a torqueing moment trying to twist the top of the Wheel Kit into the side of the Blasting Cabinet but I'm going to put some washers on the fasteners to maintain the standoff (caused by the Angle Iron's corner radius) from the side of the Blasting Cabinet. I may substitute a strip of suitably thick metal instead of washers - that would probably be better.

Anyway, no matter what I do, I'll be attempting to test it by gently lowering it onto the floor and seeing what happens.

We'll see then if it's going to work and, if not, I'll add some more bolts.

Thanks again for your thoughtful comments - I won't be surprised if you are correct and my initial approach will be inadequate.

Best regards,

Scott

I've been waiting for my Amazon order for the Preval Paint Spraying System to arrive so I can get on with the Blasting Cabinet Wheel Kit project.

20210323-01.jpg

Back in February I went to an Estate Sale and acquired these 5 Akro-Mills 19416 16-Drawer Storage Cabinets for $4 each. I think they would work well for tooling. That appears to be what they were used for at Delta Airlines prior to them being acquired by the gentleman who's estate was being sold off.

20210323-02.jpg

So this week, as I waited for my Preval system to arrive, I spent quite a bit of time cleaning off the labels - inside & outside.

20210323-03.jpg

I now have the Free-World's largest reserves of used Label-Maker Tape.

Last night my cell phone yipped at me that I had a text. Amazon had delivered a package "on my back porch". I don't have a back porch but I do have a deck on the back of my house. I went out onto the deck and looked around...

No joy.

Front porch?

No joy.

Outside the house garage doors?

No joy.

20210326-04.jpg

However, as I looked up towards the LBG, I saw a box sitting in front of the Man Door that leads to the Metal/Auto section of the shop.

20210326-05.jpg 20210326-06.jpg

It was the Preval system.

20210327-07.jpg

Today I wanted to start painting the Wheel Kits but it was pretty windy outside and I didn't want to paint inside. I figured I should take a look at my paint and see what it looked like.

Continued in next post...

20210327-11.jpg

The paint was separated quite a bit so...

20210327-12.jpg

...I gave it a good bit of stirring.

20210327-13.jpg

I went outside and did some yard work while I waited to see if the wind would subside. Meanwhile the second part of my Amazon order arrived in the mail.

20210327-14.jpg

At about 6:30 this evening the wind had dropped to an occasional gentle breeze. I decided to go for it and poured some of my paint into the Preval glass jar.

20210327-15.jpg

So I was moving pretty fast while the weather was cooperating. The Preval system seemed to work OK but I think, in hindsight, I may not have had the bottle sealed as well as I should have to the pressure vessel. There seemed to be a lag between pulling the trigger and the spray starting and the pressure seemed a bit low at times.

20210327-16.jpg

I pulled the rack inside to keep the paint from being contaminated by the haze of Pine Pollen that we're experiencing at the moment. Despite the rain we've had, a car driving down the blacktop road in front of my house throws up Pine Pollen like one would see from a car on a dusty gravel road.

20210327-17.jpg

I cleaned up the Preval system with Lacquer Thinner. I'm going to research how long I should let this paint dry before giving it another coat.

So far so good.

Scott, I have one of those snap on handles for spray cans too. They work great and don’t cause finger fatigue like when you use your index finger.

Jay,

Thanks for the kind words!

...and now for the rest of the story regarding the Spray Can Handle.

I ordered both the Spray Can Handle and the Preval 2-Pack Spraying System from Amazon at the same time.

The next day Amazon sent me a note indicating my order had shipped. I clicked on the link for tracking information and it had a USPS Tracking Number. I filled out a Tracking Update Request on the USPS website.

On Friday morning I had an email indicating that my item was "Out For Delivery". When the mail was delivered to my house at about 4 pm there was no Amazon Package in or around my mailbox. A bit later I received an email from the Postal Service that "An Delivery Exception Had Occurred". This is not normal but it isn't all that unusual for my Post Office.

So, about 4 hours later when my cell phone announced that Amazon had delivered my package "on my back porch", I was amazed.

How did Amazon get involved after the Post Office fumbled? It was weird but I was just happy to have received the Preval Spraying System.

It wasn't until I went to the mailbox to get my mail the next day (Saturday) and found the package with the Spray Can Handle that I realized I had forgotten about the Amazon order for the Handle.

I had placed the order for both items but the Handle was an afterthought. I didn't realize the order had been shipped in two different shipments (USPS & Amazon) and when the Preval showed up on Friday night my aging brain, so amazed and confused by the perceived USPS/Amazon package handoff, completely forgot there was another item in this order.

Today was a magnificent spring morning with crisp temperatures and deep blue skies. There was a gentle breeze blowing and I had some chores to accomplish so I waited until this afternoon when the breeze was almost non-existent to put the second coat of paint on the Wheel Kit. Again I had some small issues with the Preval system.

Although this handle is specifically* made for the Preval system it doesn't work as well as I think it should. The nozzle on top the spray propellant can wasn't being depressed square to the top of the can when the handle was squeezed but instead was canted a bit to one side. This may have had something to do with the performance I found to be a bit weak and it also seemed to cause the propellant cat to want to rotate, causing the nozzle to work its way off center.

I may try spraying a bit without the handle and see how that works. When I was doing my cleanup after today's painting, I took the handle off and it seemed to produce a better spay pattern. This could be due to the handle misbehaving and causing the issues I described or it just may work better when it's spraying something as thin as Lacquer Thinner vs. Paint.

*EDIT: Apparently not an exclusive Preval product - see Bob Heine's post which follows this one. His looks identical to me.

Best regards,

Scott

Scott, I bought one of those Spray handles five years ago and had mixed luck with standard spray cans. The arthritis in my index finger is progressing nicely so anything to avoid aggravating it is welcome. This handle really solves the problem for me.

The bevel on most spray can nozzles (including the Preval) makes it difficult to align perfectly and even harder to keep the nozzle level. I just sprayed four cans of Spar Urethane on some outdoor furniture and the flat top nozzle on these cans worked perfectly. I'm going to be the old geezer in the paint department popping caps off spray cans to see what kind of nozzle they have.

I'm not sure but I think the valve mechanism under these nozzles is different. There is a pin in the cap that pushes down into the valve so they can't be swapped for the ones that just push on the plastic tube.

Bob,

That's some good information! Thanks for sharing it. I thought the Preval Handle was made for the Preval spray cans but it looks like the one you have is identical.

You do Boca Raton FL and I'll be the Peachtree City GA (PTCGA) Geezer that is checking the nozzles. HA!

I would think they would ignore us old guys because they'll be shouting at the folks that actually spray some paint on the rack in the store to see what the color looks like (I guess that's why they do it). I am always astounded to see that in Walmart.

Best regards,

Scott

Today I wanted to try to get my Homelite Pressure Washer running. Yesterday it wouldn't even pop when I pulled the Start Cord.

20210330-01.jpg

I thought it would be easier to access the carburetor by sitting it on top of the "Tornado Shelter". This did (initially) seem to be helpful.

20210330-02.jpg 20210330-03.jpg

A 10mm deep well socket was used to remove the Fuel Bowl bolt.

20210330-04.jpg

I used my homebuilt Magnetic Base LED light - magnetically attached to the bottom of the grates - to illuminate the Carburetor from underneath.

20210330-05.jpg 20210330-06.jpg

Checking out the Fuel Bowl and the Fuel Bowl bolt confirmed that the Carburetor was in desperate need of some love.

20210330-07.jpg

The trickiest part was finding a Screwdriver that was skinny enough to engage the Carburetor's Main Jet. I had one that worked - barely.

Continued...

I got the Main Jet screwed out as far as it would could by engaging its threads but it would not come out of the Carburetor. I even tried reaching inside the Carburetor with a small screwdriver and pushing down on the Nozzle. The Nozzle dropped down but didn't push out the Main Jet. I wacked on the Carburetor housing for a while with no luck.

20210330-11.jpg 20210330-12.jpg

I thought I might have more luck by removing the Carburetor from the Engine and working on it on the bench.

20210330-13.jpg

Eventually I did succeed but it was really gummed up in there (I guess). If I hadn't seen a YouTube video of a guy taking these components out I would have thought for sure I was doing something wrong. It was a fight.

Once out I held the Main Jet up to the light and I could see that it was completely plugged. The Nozzle also had some of its holes obstructed.

20210330-14.jpg

I placed all the dirty bits into the Barryman Chem-Dip and let them steep for about an hour and a half.

20210330-15.jpg

I pulled the items out of the Chem-Dip and hit the Main Jet and the Nozzle with some compressed air to blow out the holes.

20210330-16.jpg

I reassembled the Carburetor's internals.

20210330-17.jpg

The last to go on was the now clean Bowl & Bowl bolt.

I took the Pressure Washer outside and set it up for being started.

VIDEO

It's oddly satisfying for a cheap repair to work so well. HA!

While I have the Homelite Pressure Washer in the LBG it seemed like a good time to change the oil. This was something that could be accomplished while I got a few other chores completed away from the shop.

20210331-01.jpg

This engine has an odd way to change the oil. Basically it gets drained from the same place the oil gets added. I positioned the Pressure Washer over the "Tornado Shelter".

20210331-02.jpg

It looks to me like the best way to do this is to remove the right rear wheel and then tip the machine on its side. There's this rather odd clip holding the axle to the frame. Once that is remove the wheel comes off easily.

20210331-03.jpg 20210331-04.jpg

Although most of the oil drained out quickly, I'll let it sit like this overnight and then refill it with fresh oil tomorrow morning.

great to see you do a simple (yet it was fairly hard to do by the sounds of it) fix on your pressure washer. is your HOMELITE'S engine a honda cause it looks like my Karcher with a Honda engine. yep the oil drains where it goes in.

I've been using non ethonal gas for about 5 years now, but I still need to do some old carb work on my Honda weedeater and a few other small engines that I used prior to that and forgot to burn off gas while they sat for the winter.

I think that might be fun (maybe a bit spendy hobby though) to have a private plane and a license where you can just zip around the country without having to drive or go thru an airport. good luck with that!!!

have you got room for a private runway at the LBG?

DrivesItFar,

I probably should use non-ethanol gas and some fuel stabilizer in my small engines.

As to the Main Jet & Nozzle being "hard"... I suppose I should just write, "It wasn't as easy as it looked on the YouTube video." HA!

While I didn't think the Main Jet & Nozzle would just fall out, I wasn't expecting the resistance to leaving the Carburetor body that I experienced.

No room for a private runway at my house but Peachtree City Airport (Falcon Field) is very close and their are many air strips around me.

Back in Indiana it would be possible to build a strip on the Lone Beech Melon Farm but, again, there are existing places to land reasonably close.

I'm going to have to learn quite a bit about light aircraft flying before I go down this road. I've basically had a very controlled situation with very capable aircraft for the past 35 years. Prior to that I had very capable aircraft in a less controlled MARSA situation (Military Assumes Responsibility for Separation of Aircraft). I pretty sure there's a whole different set of rules for this new (to me) type of flying.

Best regards,

Scott

Just checking in with you. Hope you didn't get any storm damage.

Nick,

Boy I completely forgot about you being in Newnan... I just came back from checking out your thread & I'll be leaving a note there.

No... I didn't have any storm damage here. I was getting ready to go to bed at about midnight when I heard the warning sirens start wailing.

I knew there was weather heading our way ...but there's always weather heading our way. The sirens clued me in that this might be different.

I turned on the TV and saw that it had already hit Newnan and was about half way to Peachtree City. It looked like it was going to pass to the north between Tyrone & Peachtree City but I got all the doors to the basement opened up and the lights on downstairs. I called my son (lives about 2 miles north of me in an upstairs apartment) and urged him to come to our house since we had a basement. He did so to pacify me.

Went outside and watched some pretty interesting movement in the clouds - low ones moving fast; upper ones not moving much at all - and started to come in to wake up my wife and get her downstairs when everything started calming down here.

My son & I stayed up until about 1:30 am and then decided the worst was over. He went home and I went to bed. Spouse missed all the excitement as she was in a state of total relaxation when it all happened.

Best regards,

Scott

Today I was going to see if I could get the Wheel Kit mounted on the Skat Blast Cabinet.

20210401-01.jpg

I slid the weldments under the ends of the Blasting Cabinet. I elected to wait, for the moment, on mounting the casters. This will make it easier to make test this contraption and also to make any necessary changes.

20210401-02.jpg 20210401-03.jpg

It would really be useful to have a helper as it is impossible to reach around the back of the Cabinet. Fortunately I was able to get the fasteners torqued down by myself.

20210401-04.jpg

For the first lift test, I positioned a couple of shims to maintain the spacing between the Angle Iron and the Cabinet side. I used a floor jack to test this arrangement.

This worked well - the Wheel Kit supported the weight of the Cabinet.

I then tried a lift without any shims and that didn't go well. The Cabinet did lift up but the Angle Iron had enough torque from the lifting points moment arm to twist the rather flimsy Angle Iron frame the Skat Blast cabinet uses.

20210401-05.jpg

One solution is to place some 1/8" x 1" x length steel as a shim between the top of the Wheel Kit Angle Iron and the side of the Blasting Cabinet.

20210401-06.jpg 20210401-07.jpg

The other solution is to follow InsaneEd's suggestion of increasing the number of fasteners between the Wheel Kit's Angle Iron and the Blasting Cabinet's frame.

I used a couple of Kant-Twist clamps to secure the frame to the Angle Iron and did another lift without shims. The second picture shows that kept the Wheel Kit's Angle Iron from twisting and maintained a gap between the Angle Iron and the Cabinet Side.

I think I will definitely drill some holes and fasten the Cabinet's frame to the Angle Iron in the locations I had the clamps. I'm pretty sure I will also put the 1/8-inch thick steel "shim" between the Cabinet Side and the Wheel Kit's Angle Iron as well.

Between those two modifications, I think the Wheel Kit will be a success.

I wish you the best on your private pilot's license if you get one. I'm sure it's not cheap to buy, lease a hanger, gas and all the maintenance, but it might be a fun way to visit dad and see more of the USA.

I hope your blast cabinet mods work like you hoped they will.

DrivesItFar,

The Total Cost Of Ownership of a Light Aircraft is what I'm exploring at the moment. I'm also sort-of thinking about the specifications I think I would want to point me to the correct aircraft.

It's about 450 miles to get to the Lone Beech Melon Farm in Indiana so at least that range with reserve fuel.

I'd like to get there (still air) in 3 hours or less.

I'd like to be able to carry at least 3 passengers in addition to myself and some baggage.

I need to talk to some of my buddies about this. Off hand something like a Cessna 210 (or similar) seems to fit the bill but I'm still early in this game.

As to the Skat Blast Cabinet mods... I think I got there today.

Best regards,

Scott

Sunday - April 4, 2021 - Easter Sunday

Over the past few days I've been working on the Skat Blast "Wheel Kit".

20210402-01.jpg 20210402-02.jpg 20210402-03.jpg

On Friday I cut some 1-inch wide 1/8-inch thick steel to the proper lengths to act as shims.

20210402-04.jpg

I drilled holes big enough for #6 screws and then hit the steel with some primer.

20210403-05.jpg 20210403-06.jpg

Yesterday after the primer had cured for 24 hours, I used the Preval spraying system to apply some "Skat Blast Gray" on to the shim material.

20210404-07.jpg

Today I tapped the shim pieces into position.

20210404-11.jpg 20210404-12.jpg

I drilled holes into the Cabinet and fastened #6 screws to hold the shim stock in position.

20210404-13.jpg

With the shim stock mounted in position, I drilled two 1/4-inch holes (front & back) to fasten the Wheel Kit Angle Iron to the Blasting Cabinet's Frame.

20210404-14.jpg

A "load test" with the floor jack was a success.

I mounted the Wheel Kit on the other end of the Blasting Cabinet in a similar fashion.

20210404-15.jpg 20210404-16.jpg

I rolled the Blasting Cabinet between the 2-Post Lift and used some Harbor Freight Straps to lift the Cabinet off the shipping pallet.

20210404-17.jpg

I used a pry bar to lift up the ends of the Blasting Cabinet and started fastening the Casters to the Wheel Kit Brackets. I positioned the nuts deepest in the Brackets with a magnet-on-a-stick.

I got the Casters attached to the Brackets.

20210404-22.jpg

Then I removed the wooden shims and lowered the Skat Blast Cabinet to the floor.

Last event before I had a wonderful Easter supper with my wife and son this evening was to roll the Skat Blast Cabinet back to its working position.

VIDEO of the Cabinet being moved.

A 210 is a great travel aircraft. Beechcraft have some good travel aircraft as well. Good thing about a Beech is re-sale. A doctor will always be there to buy! :)

AZpilot,

HA!

I can still remember the first time I heard the term, "Fork-Tailed Doctor Killer."

I laughed pretty hard.

Well it's about 4-1/2 years after the fact but...

20210406-01.jpg

Remember this Date Block?

20210406-02.jpg

Remember this Styrofoam Spacer? There's some sort of bird that loved to peck on this spacer and tried to build a next behind it.

20210406-03.jpg

I had some brick repair work that needed to be done on my house. While the mason was doing that project, I asked if he could work this in as well. He knocked it out pretty quick.

One of my brothers had this made out of Indiana Limestone for me.

It's good to have that Date Block finally in place!

i'll let you and your pilot friends discuss what airplanes while I watch and learn and wish I had learned to fly when I was younger. it does sounds like it would be great even if only to visit your dad, but I bet you would find many many other reasons to take a quick trip where you don't have to drive.

i'm learning to love Masonary work after putting in a few planters. now that I know how to mix my own mortar and I've picked up a few thousand old red bricks no telling what i'll make.

I just watched some preview of the MASTERS and it looks like your weather after that storm is mid 80's this week which I think is about perfect so maybe a good time to try out that new paint booth?

cheers

DrivesItFar,

I think that's great that you're learning how to do masonry work! What a useful skill.

I've been out of the shop the past few days dealing with other tasks but hope to get back into it soon.

Have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Scott

I've been doing a LOT of outdoor yard work and deferred house maintenance so I haven't had much to report here.

The main thing that I've done in the LBG was to help a neighbor that came over on his lawn tractor. It seems that something had gotten wrapped around one of the mower blade shafts when he had been out cutting his grass.

We positioned it over the "Tornado Shelter" and found about 4 feet of bailing wire wrapped SECURELY around the shaft. We went at it with wire cutters & pliers for about 35 minutes before we freed all the wire.

My neighbor showed up later with a 6-pack of Sierra Nevada. HA!

I just returned from visiting family in Indiana.

20210421-01.jpg

I managed to spend a little time in the Lone Beech Melon Farm's Mechanic's Shop while I was there. Note the snow on the roofs and such. According to the weather folks, the only other two recorded times it had snowed on that day in April was 1953 & 2000.

20210421-02.jpg 20210421-03.jpg

Dad's shop has a Mechanic's Pit and his Buick had some noises coming from the Right Front Wheel Well area.

20210421-04.jpg

I pulled his Buick over the Mechanic's Pit.

20210421-05.jpg 20210421-06.jpg

I had procured the appropriate "Plastic Rivet" before coming up to Indiana.

20210421-07.jpg

While I doubt if this will eliminate the noises, it might help and it was a cheap and easy thing to try first.

It was good to visit the homestead and see family!

Scott, it’s been awhile so I thought I would check in and see how things are going in the LBG.

Jay
Jay,

Thanks for checking on me...

I have been spending so much time outside working on about 15 years of deferred house maintenance that I've not been doing much in the LBG. I'm trying to get outside stuff done before we get into Georgia Summer which would wilt me. HA!

Best regards,

Scott

So, as I mentioned in my post to Jayman17, I've not been doing much inside the Lone Beech Garage of late due to working on house trim and yard work.

20210505-01.jpg

Earlier in the month I did get a phone call at about 8 am from my security monitoring company. It seems I had an "Open Door" alarm. I went out to the shop and, sure enough, the middle bay door was open.

20210505-02.jpg

It turns out the door controller had died and that caused a spurious open command from the controller. I disconnected the door from the motor so the door could be closed.

20210508-03.jpg

The motor would occasionally activate despite the controller being "dead" so I moved the Media Blasting Cabinet out of the way and climbed a ladder to where I could unplug the motor. I guess the Wheel Kit for the Blasting Cabinet was a timely project.

20210515-04.jpg

It turns out Liftmaster realizes that they have a problem with the old controllers and they offered a redesigned replacement for free. It took a little while to get to me but it has been installed and is working properly.

20210515-05.jpg

20210518-06.jpg

So here's an example of what I've been doing instead of spending time in the LBG. I can't believe that I've reached such an advanced age despite doing this sort of thing. HA! In my defense, my wife refuses to get up on the roof so that means I have to do it. The dormers were looking like two miles of bad road so it was time to get them cleaned up. It's just slow going as I have to move the scaffolding by myself and I am taking my time in an effort to be safe. Fortunately, this is my own scaffolding so I don't have to rush.

20210521-07.jpg

...and then there are distractions. Like the Sound of Freedom from a local air show last weekend. These F-35's were in formation with a local WWII era Corsair - VERY cool!

EDIT: Hmmm... It's going to take me some time to figure out how to use this new website... For some of my pictures, if I get the "Thumbnail" oriented correctly the fullsize version is rotated. In order to get the fullsize correct, the "Thumbnail" is rotated.
Weird.
