Always nice to find those old Reed sets complete. Looks like the tape measure lived a charmed life!
Indeed, the tape measure is a beaut. I posted a better pic in the vintage tape measure thread.Always nice to find those old Reed sets complete. Looks like the tape measure lived a charmed life!

Jumpman-z: Sometime in the 50’s. Some of the earliest heritage logos showed up in the late forties. That has to be one of the cleanest boxes I have seen. Nice find.I picked up this 30" Heritage Box at an estate sale for $37.50 a couple of weekends ago. It's basically brand new, but I haven't had any luck finding a date stamp on it. Any idea when this one was made?

Thanks guys! I figured it was likely 50s, but wasn't quite sure. And yeah, I've never seen one this clean before!Damned phones. Somewhere between 53 and 58
Thanks JoCo! That sander is awesome. 67 pounds w/o the motor. I paid $70 for it and was pretty happy with that price, especially because of its condition and original paint. As for your mostly Long C stuff, please always find the flimsiest reason to post pics of your amazing tool showroom. There's a lot of eye candy in those pics Hoorn! I'd never picked up the difference in the cant of those tool stand legs, I learned something this morning! The decal on the stand is in amazing condition. I've never seen more than remnants on one of those. It's also interesting that the sander has a decal instead of the aluminum badge. I glom onto more pre-war machines than I do Heritage era but I do pick up Heritage machines when they're priced right as my son in law is compiling a Heritage wood working shop. I'm on a learning curve with that stuff so it's always good to see something I'm not aware of from that time period.
That WT/Craftsman hybrid stand is fantastic!
Wondering how you ended up with a 1950s date. From what I can tell, they were produced from Long C thru the heritage era. I also have a water decal version. My only WAG is it was due to metal shortages during a war (either WWII or Korea).I meant to attach these as well. 1951 Craftsman catalog.
Heck of a sander there Hoon! I had one of those as well with a pretty nice decal. I attached it to a long c era builder saw stand and made a wood table top for it. Alas, when I moved I sold it to Rileysan because my garage situation changed.... It was my second most favorite craftsman power tool, next to my drill press. Man I miss that thing. It could rip saw dust like no ones business! Thanks JoCo! That sander is awesome. 67 pounds w/o the motor. Thank you Smokes. Yes it can turn big wooden blocks into little wooden blocks very quickly!Heck of a sander there Hoon! I had one of those as well with a pretty nice decal. I've got a modern version of that from a different manufacturer, it's an absolute beast. The big 12" plate takes several minutes to spin down after it's been switched off. That Craftsman example is a beauty! If you want a Craftsman sander that can really make the sawdust:
Of course, someone down the line painted it green over the decal, but it is a 12" disc with a heavy duty line-rated 3/4hp motor. It took both my neighbor and I to lift it up on the bench in the garage. I was going to restore it, but I think I am going to move it along to someone who tends toward that style of wookwork.
Yeah, you gotta eat your wheaties before you lift one of those! If you want a Craftsman sander that can really make the sawdust:

Dang it, **** doesnt even begin to cover it! Excellent snag!Due to 11b's Bandsaw thread, I became aware of the Power Pak (only knew of the Panls before). Since then, have been keeping an eye out. I found a Power Pak on eBay, and had a make offer (was listed @ $10). Threw an $8 offer out, thinking if it gets rejected I would still happily pay the $10 (shipping was ~$8). To my surprise, the offer was accepted! Just showed up today, with a surprise inside! Not only was there a Power Pak, it was in the OEM box! No instructions, but they are on VM.
