First wrench of the day, I forgot that my Stepmother is at the Camp this week, so I am not delivering the water ski chairs today, crisis averted!

I am going to gather the military tires that I need for my partial trade for the roller chassis. Then I will probably try and get the lawn mowed at the Hill, then pick up the dump trailer from my house, then go to the SG and mess with things or some sort of order like that, whatever makes sense. ;)

It is really nice outside, so I hate to be inside working on a computer.

Got the military tires loaded up, going to head to the SG and get them unloaded, plus round up the other ones that I need from there. I would like to get them all set so I don’t have to feel rushed when I have to head down and get the rolling chassis. I will also need to load a truck frame from the Hill, but that is going to be a two person job as I need to move a lot of stuff to get to it.

One way to ruin an afternoon, I found the sand trap…….

3D4D7006-3718-4E97-931B-4926D93AD8B3.jpeg

I am about to head out anyways, will bring help back to get it unstuck. Need bigger truck, but also need jumper pack to start the bigger truck. At least I got the tires unloaded. Now all I have to do is, well, I don’t know??? The computer is a bigger issue than expected, apparently it has been down for a longer period of time than I originally thought. The hard drives are formatted differently and will not recognize the new boot sequence without reformatting them, I wanted to see what data was still on them first, so I really didn’t want to erase them. I think I found a way around it, but I don’t have the proper cables and I guess technically it would be easier with another computer, an older one that matches the OS or at least the format of the drives in my problem computer.

They make cables to just access an old hard drive. A guy I used to work with told me he just keeps the hard drive and tosses the computer. Then he uses a cable to access the stand alone hard drive.

You want to keep the computer whole, they must make a cable for that?

Yes, I can run the hard drive inside the computer in target mode, but I have to have the cable and another computer, I have all that, just need to find the time. The biggest issue is that the other computer needs to be an older OS, so it will still recognize the hard drives as they are. Anything else means I need to format them and that will erase everything.

isn't there software to emulate another OS? So a newer PC could run that and grab off everything? and yeah, you would have to get that too.

Getting better, but. Am not doing anything on the burbs and that kind of *****. :(

Yes you are! Clean space looks good and motivates, also removes impediments to progress [like frustration over not finding what you were looking for on that desk for example], will give you a good spot to study wiring and assembly diagrams. I'd say you advanced some 'Burbs right there! You seem to be making good progress at the SG all around, when you can pull your project in and not worry about the things like getting it out until finished [or needing a good thrashing... Uhm testing] you will be so much more motivated and efficient that you will be satisfied even after a less happy day. Harry

Thanks Harry, I have to keep reminding myself that I am not as young as I used to be and I can’t work 18 hour days without paying for it at some point. Tonight I am going to bed “early”.

Really humid today, Helper was a bug help, he has plenty of potential for a part time helper. We got all the tires shuffled around and even unloaded some of Dad’s stuff in the Quonset hut. I figure I can use him this week, but my guess is that Dad will hijack him and then I won’t be able to use him again.

we pulled Guido out with the 5ton no problem, then we used the F700 knuckle boom truck to get a bunch of tires down from the upper deck of the gooseneck trailer. That is all I got for pictures, too busy and too sweaty for more…

My solution is to remove all the sand! Of course you were probably talking about the computers.....

Thanks guys, Harry, I will check that out later.

Weather guessers lied and said it would be less humid today, well I feel like I am swimming right now.

At least the tracking info shows the mattress pad/cooler will be here tomorrow, only one more night of nasty sweat.

We are almost finished with the lawn mowing and weed whacking at the Hill, had to take a trip over to the SG to get some more tools, also took the time to soak down the nuts holding the military rims together. They are pretty crusty and I think we will have to heat a few of them, going to use a wire wheel to clean the rust off, then I may even use a die to fix the threads on some. We also pulled all the valve cores, so I know there is no air in the tires. Supposed to get the remnants of Elsa at some point tomorrow and it will continue overnight into Friday, so the plan is to do some inside work, as long as we have power.

I had to move some of the rotting logs that dad wants to saw, the pine actually oozes liquid when grabbing them with the thumb. They all need to just go away. :(

I pulled the box truck up and out of my way (simultaneously putting it in my way), needed to get to the F-550 frame that is going to the guy with the rolling chassis I bought. Not sure if I am going to try and load it tomorrow or if I will wait, Dad said he wants it gone, but when he sees it out in the open, he might just change his mind. Probably smarter to get it out of there completely if I can.

At least I feel like things are getting done, the yard at the Hill is starting to look decent, still need to do some more landscaping, but I can see my vision now. Hopefully I can get started on the inside repairs soon, would be nice to be in the house by winter, but I am not holding my breath at this point.

We have a small window without rain this morning, then it looks like rain until later Friday, at least I have inside work available.

So far no rain, got the frame over to the SG and transferred to the bigger trailer, should be able to haul everything in one load this way.

Luckily it was an easy job for the Mitsu, I did have to reposition so the blade could be used as a stabilizer.

Frame is loaded and ready for the SG.

Transferred to the bigger trailer, It is probably the same overall length when attached to Perk, but it gains a lot more deck space and some maneuverability compared to the tag trailer.

First thing this morning I added some air valves and some new hoses, then installed the holder for them, shouldn't have anymore issues with the hoses getting caught in the driveshaft now. ;)

The sky just opened up and dumped some rain on us, looks like it was just the first of many waves. I'm taking off early, been a long hot week and don't need to get wet.

The grader has a couple hydraulic leaks, but does run, we are aiming to try and figure out the leak and fix it next week.

Today is probably the last day, but I could be wrong, I may end up with him for a bit longer. I figure I will take him as much as possible, good thing is he said once school starts he can help on some weekends, so that will get him some spending money and me some help.

It isn't really raining right now, but it looks like it is on its way. I want to try and get the water line prepped for the office, then we should be ready for the rest of the plumbing. I am sure it will still be a couple weeks before I have my shop sink back working, but at least this will get us a good water shutoff with pipe threads to use as a starting point, the current one is a mess of half rotted off steel and garden hose.

Been raining since about 11 AM, got some supplies for the office plumbing and started organizing the PEX supplies, should be able to get a good bit done soon. I need to get the Lista situation figured out ASAP, otherwise I won’t have enough room to shuffle stuff around. In order to get my sink installed, one side of the wooden shelving has to go away and there is a lot of misc stuff on it. Will be dealing with that mess tomorrow.

I almost forgot, the mattress cooler showed up last night, I set it up about midnight and got a halfway decent sleep again, appears to be leak free, but will have to check it again tonight.

Not too productive, he had to leave fairly early, but my back has been bugging me anyways. I did a bit of paperwork, then went to a late lunch with my cousin, then hit home depot. I am home now, have to do some laundry before tomorrow......

As long as this one doesn't leak, it will be fine. I have a couple extra pads on order just to prevent the shipping delay issue in the future.

As long as it is sweat, right?

I am over at the SG working on the military tires, definitely more work than I wanted, but it will be good to get them gone. I talked to Dad today about buying the 5 Ton dump truck and the IHI track crane, he wasn't opposed to it, better than "NO". I also get to use the new helper another week, bonus.

I think I should have advertised free CrossFit classes, then I could have help beating these tires with a sledgehammer and flipping them over. ;)

I wire wheeled all the rust and crud off the threads on the headlock bolts, unfortunately (maybe not for my back), there are a bunch of nuts that I can’t loosen up. I have not tried heat yet, but I don’t have the right tools here, it is 1 1/8” and needs to be a deep socket. I ordered a 1” drive, that coupled with the big impact and a big 12.0 battery should get the job done.

90E2FDFF-7012-4F41-B22F-8BE3345FF3F6.jpeg67A6EA7D-6C0E-4012-AE70-478514213014.jpeg8ABFF7E5-917D-4D81-B3E4-A02DE0A788CC.jpeg

On another note, I had the local GM dealership cut a key based on Goldfender’s VIN and it worked for the door locks, I also bought a new ignition key cylinder and I am in process of figuring out what has to be done to rekey it to match (someone replaced the original one). I can buy all the tools and the parts kit for a couple hundred dollars, I think it will be worth the effort and time as I know I will need to deal with this in the future on any one of my other Burb projects
