Name of this Starrett tool

Hi i have seen this Starrett tool listed for sale on a Facebook group. I believe it is used for cutting washers from leather or other types of sheet material, can anyone give any other details or the correct name of it?
Im not thinking of buying it but thinking of making something similar at some time to help with the cutting out of gaskets.

I had heard them called gasket cutters. Very useful tool in my shop. Mine is not made by Starrett though. That is a nice example.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Starrett catalogs, and never seen that type of tool. Here’s a similar one.

Can you show a picture of the Starrett name?

swinz, if you find an Allpax gasket cutter that is complete, it is the nicest one I have ever found. It is easy to use and packs up in a compact metal box. You do not need a machine to operate it, as it is all self-contained. All you need is some sort of backing so the blade doesn't contact your work surface.

I found mine at an estate sale for cheap. They are on Ebay for more, and Allpax still sells a similar kit.

Can you show a picture of the Starrett name?

I can see parts of a stamp on the main body, but it’s somethingFIELD, MASS.

green, spring, pitts, mans, and maybe more are all options

Nice work, RTM. Googled Greenfield Mass vintage gasket cutter and some came up that look just like it. Made by Goodell Pratt.



I'd have to look at mine again, but based on the image search results, mine was made by them as well. (Googled image, not mine).



I often use mine without the brace, but having that option is very nice, if I have many pieces to cut. It's a fun tool to use.

Goodell Pratt was every bit as good as Starrett back in the day. Good find and good job pulling the info.

Bought by Millers Falls in 1931. That's an interesting design. I have a few, none that look or adjust like that.

Thank you gentlemen for all your replies, obviously the vendor got the manufacturer wrong but with the vast knowledge of all the contributors on here we got the correct tool name and correct manufacturer.

I believe that a fly cutter wouldn’t have a centre point or pilot to keep it in position.
