Cornwell & grames for those not familiar. Basically a contract supplier for snap on. I have a set of their pullers and they work quite well.

Made for Blue Point and others
More Blue Point made by others. I’m not trying to worry the subject, just going through stuff trying to figure out what I can live without and getting it out of my way.

I believe Springfield also made pullers for Snap-On, Plomb, Herbrand, Bonney, and New Britain; probably others, also.

I have some of both at work great stuff. I know what you mean. I have been collecting tools and working on cars for close to 50 years. The stuff piles up!

Nice breaker bar LS. Great condition for a 1929 tool.

ok Lugz, you got me to go hunting in the garage. I dug out this swivel. The good news is I found something else that was missing for quite a while so thank you!

Helms Tools Chicago, IL is the name. 3/8 drive. I believe I’ve seen these in Mac or some other brand too. This was all discussed before iirc, maybe not here but another forum.23CDCE8E-BEEF-4B72-B79F-34D416EB037C.jpeg

Third pic is off Worthpoint, a stamped logo. Helm instead of Helms.

Here are a few of the Snap on pieces I've picked up lately. I got some sockets with the LR 42 but immediately dumped them in with all the other Snap on and couldn't re-identify them :ROFLMAO: The ratchet was badly rusted and is still pretty corroded but it seems to run really smooth. Should be a good user. The little ratcheting wrench I picked up in a free box at a hoarder give away which was nice! That same box also had this old breaker which I believe is 9/32, or maybe 7/16? It's marked M-10-DG.

The M-10-DG is 9/32” drive made in 1945. It’s the top left one in the repacks pictured below

Going through a bunch of tools I got from my uncle and finding various snap on pieces throughout the boxes. Some may be older than others. Interesting to see some of the made in Canada ones.

Anyone have any info on the stubby 3/8" ratchet? I was confused by the turned down handle. Did it come with a cheater bar that perfectly slid on? Or maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe it just had a cushion handle at one point. I cant find a part number on that one.

Millwright you've got a nice haul of Snap-on there.
I think the stubby was shop modified, the ones I've had have a finished ball end. Also I can't see Snap-on milling away part of their logo.
Where does the Canada connection come in?
We have lots of made in USA up here, I wasn't aware that some may have gone south of the border.

Thanks Ron

Yes, I also thought that at some point the stubby may have been modified. The only odd part is the stamped N in CAN is actually on the machined down part.

As for why I have some made in Canada, I'm actually in Canada. But up until I got these tools from my uncle I had no idea snap on had ever made anything in Canada. But upon digging into it I found some info on their website. They actually opened up a plant in Ontario in 1931! Now I cant find when they closed exactly but from info I've found from other people discussing it, it sounds like it actually may have been going right up until the early 90s.
Check out this link, it's quite interesting. Mentions Canada in the 1930s section. https://www.snapon.com/EN/Our-Company/Our-History

Hey guys, I'm a Canuck as well. I'm looking at the forum as I travel through B.C. :canada:
Almost all the snap-on I own is made in Canada.
When I'm on my tablet, I can't see locations of the members posting.
When I left the trade in 96, production was still going on in Newmarket Ontario, if I remember correctly.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory category.

I bought a Kennedy box on Saturday, and was quite pleased later that evening to see a small Snap-on ratchet inside. Pull it out tonight, check it out, enter it into the tool log, find a G forge mark, clean dried grease out of the screw heads, realize it’s a bit sticky, so grab an extension to spin it. Crud it doesn’t fit. Get out a pocket caliper… 9/32” drive. So close, and yet so far from usable.

so it’s a M-70-L, 9/32” midget drive, seen in the 1939-42 Catalogs, marked with what sure looks like the G Govt code seen for 1945.

You just need a few more parts for the set. I have a spare NOS repack breaker bar and crossbar if you decide to gather more pieces

I'll trade you, RTM. Straight across, maybe even through in some 1/4" sockets...

Thanks for the offer Don, but I think this is one rabbit hole I will stay out of.

An early 9/32 drive (partial) set. The 6 sockets are unmarked. No date codes on those, t handle or slide handle. Came with 3 Hinsdale sockets and random pcs. Not sure if the 1/4 to 9/32 drive plug is Snappy, it’s also unmarked, but they did made those for the reefer rats.
I was questioning the box but seems to match others I’ve seen. Might have a green paint underneath the red.

Hi Snapmom. The plug, no markings at all. Not sure if it was added to these 20’s sockets later from say a reefer set, or is a different brand, but the way the detent balls are staked in looks similar to the two drive tools. I know these early sets had no ratchet so the plug would have come from elsewhere.

@3bay..... I recieved 3 of the same sockets you show in your red set in a 1/4 Bonney set I bought rescently. The 3 sockets are 9/32 & look exactly like yours. I guess they're snap on?

Here are a few random Snap on pieces I've run across lately. Pretty sure the ratchet is a GM70HSL, found it rattling around in an SK chest I got for cheap so I was pretty stoked to find it. It is black and missing the detent ball, but some initial googling makes me think that this the way it is supposed to be?

The little offset DBE is in nice shape.
