As we all know Plomb began not only acquiring other brands, such as Cragan (Bog), P&C, Tubing Appliance Corporation, J.P. Danielson and later Duplex, but creating their own, such as Challenger Fleet and Penens. They also supplied tools for department stores such as Wards and Sears, the autoparts chain Pep Boys and others. If you have some post them here!

Here are a few

Some challenger. Note the the box is dated 1957, tools are marked challenger and penens.

Some fleet. Sockets and some tools on older sets only marked with part numbers starting with a P on 1/4" tools.

Some later Fleet. All tools are marked Fleet.

This is very much a work in progress, Challenger but it is hard to read the label:

P&C was a top notch tool company in its own right, but was absorbed by plomb, and the post acquisition tools show it. Here is some P&C from the 50s. Note the ratchet head is clearly plomb/proto, but the handles are distinct, showing pendleton was maintaining some brand distinction.

That's a pretty good hoard! Here are a couple firestone sets. Not sure if the pebble breaker is older or newer.

Probably made in the old Danielson factory after the takeover. Here are some Challenger ratchets.

Nice rhft challenger ratchets. Challenger was an early sub brand, and initially included plomb marked tools. Here is a 1/4" set from 1939 or so. I believe don has some of these as well.

According to this 1948 p&c catalog, this set came optionally with this plomb looking ratchet.

Here's mine. I also have a fair amount of sockets, but they are spread amongst my toolboxes so I didn't include them. From top to bottom: 1960s 7384 Phillips #2 no brand name on it, but the style and model number correlate to Challenger (but possibly other brands), 1959-69 Challenger 6128 7/8 combo, Penens 3126 6" slip joint pliers, 3106 cadmium plated basic 6" slip joint pliers (possibly Penens or Challenger), 1970-1984 Ingersoll Rand Era Challenger 15/16 combo, 1960 Stanley 1536 6" adjustable wrench made by Penens, and lastly a 1957 Penens 6418 1/2x9/16 DBE.

I found a shiny chrome (U) set at the flea back in 2016. Everything was (U) except for the ratchet. I'm still missing 1 socket and looking for a nice ratchet to match the rest of the set.

Nice 1/4" cardboard box set Oldtuleguy. Only the second one I've ever seen. Great collection of 1/4" ratchets Dan. I need to dig out my Craftsman U sets and fondle them, it's been too long.

An artcraft set sold by pepboys. The copyright under the logo reads 1940, but this looks a bit newer.

Excuse the misc. junk to the left:

The set actually goes from 3/8s to 3/4s but the numbering is a one off...
Cool universal set. I believe that the miscellaneous junk to the left is the box for a late war Plomb 1/4” drive set. I have found a couple of those complete with tools. They must have run out of marked boxes at that point in time.

The next picture was a second similar set.
