Made some hold down clamps from cheap HF clamps and bolts. Cut off the stationary part of the clamp, tig welded on bolts. Total investment $39 for ten clamps.

Added a level to the tubing rack. A few more to go, but al least everything is off the floor, even if just piled on in a disorganized fashion.

Swept up the dog hair and played with my dog Dixie for a little while. Then we headed up to Lynchburg Virginia to America’s oldest pawn shop got a few tools there the prices are a bit high but I didn’t think it was too bad since I got a Snap-on wrench and pliers. Then went to another pawn shop and got some AutoCraft sockets made in China got to the register and they guy said $32 cause they are $4 each and we were like uh no way 🙄. Started to walk out and the lady working hollered for us to please come back to negotiate. Ended up getting the sockets plus a Craftsman and a TEQ extension for $10 I only gave it to them cause I didn’t have but one Craftsman socket in that size. The dude wanting $4 a piece is out of his mind. When I get back I’ll put away all my goodies.

my unfinished workshop bay of my 3car was little help today. Trying to fashion a couple 6'x2' oak-veneer 3/4" plywood desk and shelf surfaces to install in a bedroom closet for my father, and I'm having to do most of the work on sawhorses in the open middle bay of the garage, because my 'workshop' has too many unfinished projects stacked in it. MIssus and I were in the middle of our own move at the start of the year, before coming down with covid. Was barely recovered and getting back up to speed before my folks announced intentions to also leave CA and move to Vegas. We've spent the last 5mos facilitating their move. Revamping the house they purchased - if we'd put the work into their house into our own, we'd be done by now, instead I'm in a crushing race to get the things I must get done, to do the things I must do during the winter season. In fact making yet another trip next week into CA to get the last of their possessions out of storage.
And this temp / improvised desk setup for my father in their house is part of their getting moved in / unpacked. While I'm in the middle of 6 other things.

Cleaned and put some more stuff on the new shelves. Poked around visualizing alternative methods to hang our bicycles that will give more room for the new shelves. In doing so I realized I have had two drop spreaders and a broadcast spreader hanging in the rafters where the shelves are to go. Considering they came with the house and I've used them exactly zero times, I'm gonna clean up the drop spreaders and post them here in case someone can use them. I'm keeping the Craftsman broadcast spreader as it was my Dad's and will fit in the shed nicely.

I'm probably going to get some bicycle hoists for Horrible Freight. They're identical to the ones Ive seen advertised under different names anywhere frome $15-30 and HF only gets $10.99. I might even consider loosening the goosnecks on the bikes and turning the handbars 90° to get a little more space.

We came home last night and the garage door would not close. After some investigation this morning, the flashing light interval pointed to the reverse sensors. After a little troubleshooting, I found a bad connection coming off one the sensors. A small wiggle of the wire where it leaves the sensor and the door would shut. Next up is a new set of sensors as this is bound to happen again.

Moved the remaining wood from my deck project out, full parking for the DD and got the fun car out for the first time sine May. Took the Mrs to breakfast in it after a pre flight check.

Replaced the compression rod arms and front & rear underbody braces on my Z. The OE braces were badly rusted after 142k miles and driving through MI winters with the previous owner. The rear brace could be folded in half like paper.

The rear underbody brace was so deteriorated it folded in half like paper!

Finished making and installing the cantilever arms for my metal rack. Some of these will get expanded metal welded in so that shorter pieces can be stored.

Finally started building the loft. I was planning on doing it last summer/fall but prices got out of hand. Prices are back close to normal so I figured I better jump on it. It will be nice to have all the summer goodies up of the floor.

New tires and brakes on the wife's Acura TL on Saturday. Pretty pleased with the 75k miles I got out of the Toyo's that I removed but of course, they discontinued them. Yesterday ran a vacuum through the interior and cleaned the inside of the windows.

Wife cleared out enough indoor cabinet storage space to allow me to move most of my latex paint cans into the house. So, that's what I'm doing this morning.

Great looking bug, I should know what year it is but can’t tell by picture, I’m thinking around a 74.

Was going to use the walk up stairs to the storage space above the garage, switched on the light at the bottom of the stairs and ...nothing.
Thought that the stair light was burned out (it's a CFL) but walked up to the top and all the other lights also did not work.
Forgot what I needed from there and started to fault trace, removed the switch cover and jumped the hot leads no difference.
took a multi meter and check for power , nothing.
Huh! started to back track and find out where its feeds from - remove the garage light double switch plate ( one turns on the overhead garage lights and the other feeds the mudroom entry light)
Pull all the wires out and found 2) 5 wire connections and the neutral and hot were both pulled out of there respected wire nut connections.
Who ever wired the garage did not even think to twist the wires together , just placed them against each other and ran a wire nut on them.
All better now!

Treated the ZRX11 to some of this over the weekend (12 hours between coats). Bike has never looked so good. Even not-so-shiny bits are now shiny.

Of course you give this stellar review a day AFTER I bought a new bottle of Meguiar's liquid hybrid stuff...

I have that too :)

Edit: That Megs stuff wil make your paint as smooth as glass, shiny glass... The Groits stuff has the same effect... but comes with all sorts of nasty warnings... altho maybe the Megs stuff does too, I didn't read the MSDS for that.

Looks like a 73, big windshield small bumper brackets.
Good taste!

If it doesn't do much for the airflow, at least you'll get your driveway plowed for free.

Thanks all the Beetle is a 73 Super. It is a matching numbers Sport Beetle special edition with different seats and blackout out trim. Made it a whole lot faster! ;)

Kay she won't be out in the snow but I could if need to!

Looks like it should have been factory fitted. Does your bug have the telescopic impact absorbing bumper mounts or the old style pressed steel ones?

We got back from a short camping trip. This is the first time we've gone where we had to hike in to the site. We typically camp and places we can park at, but the person on the group that put it together likes to do primitive camping.

As such, our two wagons (one collapsible, one radio flyer wooden one) both got a really good workout carrying our gear in to the campsite. Both came back a bit banged up, so I spent some time in the shop fixing parts on each of them.

I also had to order some parts for the little camping trailer we pulled behind the truck. The extension I was using on the lights wasn't zip-tied and it came off at some part in the return trip. Also, the chain I use on the trailer is just a tad too short, so I went ahead and ordered a longer one to replace it. Finally, one of the turn lights had the lens broken on the trip, so that will be fixed too.

It looks like we're going to be doing quite a bit more camping in the near future with the group, so I'm considering modifying the trailer to replace the small cargo hauler with an actual box built into the trailer. I've been wanting to do this for a long time and never had enough reason too. I might finally have a reason to finish the plans i had for it.

I changed oil and filter in both Mustangs and shined up the car for a cruise in tonight.
After a 2,000 mile cruise to Gulfport Mississippi and back, in both rides, they were due.

2Smiles_f.jpg

In 110 days, on January 28th, 2022 my Mustang will be 15 years old. In less than 750 miles, I will rotate the odometer and exceed 100,000 miles.
od.jpg

On further inspection, it needs new bushings soon but it has no rust and the drive train has been replaced, repaired, and maintained at prescribed intervals.
New coil pack, spark plugs, belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat housing, rubber brake lines, rotors, clutch pack ...repaired differential, replaced battery and all fluids more than once. Car is still like new and will NEVER be for sale...LOL! 1f60e.png
My first and only vehicle I ever bought new and knowing it's history from day one makes it a keeper!
Having friends with the same color and model, with over 250,000 miles on their odometers gives me hope I have many more years in the drivers seat.

I also fixed a microfold umbrella as the stitching on some of the ends of the ribs came loose.

I hope it's still like new - with all those things replace, it practically is!
