Yes it is. The truck is original Including the drivetrain. I bought it last year from the guy who bought it new. He worked for the Georgia department of transportation so he put 410,000 miles on the truck driving it every day. It is amazing and it still rides and drives almost as if it were new. I also detailed the engine bay. A1FE0D2D-FFEC-4899-97E5-9ED5CA5B24AE.jpeg
The 2.7 is legit.

My 15 year old garage door openers are starting to show their age and after having to max out the up force on the main door opener to get it fully close, I proactively pulled the trigger on a pair of new belt drives. I installed the first one last night and man does it run quiet compared to the old chain drives!

Replaced the fuel pump, filter, and changed out all of the cracked fuel hoses on the Wrangler. Did most of the work laying on the floor. Hopefully I won't regret not putting it up on the lift. ***** getting old.

Working on a step stool for the wife to get up on our bed as we have drawers underneath and a box spring and matress to make it tall to get into.
Our bed is almost 32" tall and currently she is using a hassock that takes up a lot of space so here we go!
Cutting out pieces from templates in my pea brain....

Ruff draft....in progress....
1103211444.jpg

I am no woodworker by ANY stretch of the imagination, just "winging" it, as I got tools!
1103211445.jpg

since the garage is full of clean cars, used my workmate table, outside with my little sander for this project.
1104211212.jpg

All sanded and brought it into the house to paint. I am putting the sander in the basement for winter use....
1104211256.jpg

I decided to paint all the bad sides of the 3 ply with blue paint. That is the inside of the step stool.
The outside will be a dark stain and a work in progress as I watch paint dry, on my basement hobby bench.
One of these days, I will clean it up......

...stay tuned for further progress.....

Snagged a stainless steel wrapped elevator door to make into a workbench, so started building that. All I can say is this thing is a solid 300lbs - good grief! Going to weld on a hitch receiver on the end for my vise (basic Yost) and grinder…..882FC43B-124A-41DA-83CE-6989E1B17413.jpeg
Hope you have some bracing on that table to keep it from ********** over. Love that top.

Got to finish a little Cookie table that my daughter started awhile back. Too busy to come back and finish it herself.

Now I won’t be tripping on it anymore.

VW, they had a turbo in 81?
First Turbo diesel was 1983. The 81 rabbit was free, most of the parts used on it were from an 83 Jetta TD I had to retire after 18yrs of winter duty. But it is 95% correct as far as the TD specific parts used on the first gen water-cooled cars. Turbo diesel was a rare option back then. Think it was $2500 option as the Deluxe package on the Jetta's window sticker. AC, sunroof, metallic paint, Leatherette interior were some other options and the cars retail was $12,400 back when the GTI was selling for $9500.
I miss the Jetta... neat car for what it was.

New thermostat + housing for the 2013 Chrysler minivan. Easy swap - just messy considering that the thermostat is low on the engine. I find it amusing that if the stat is stuck open that it would throw a powertrain code because the engine isn't coming up to temperature as fast as it should. I understand that it's emissions related but throwing a code for that is a new one for me.

Refuse to pay $150+ for a battery
installed the biggest cheepest one that fits in the 68 VW Bus. Under $60 out the door
Neverstart Value LOL. Always had good luck with batts in Generator vehicles. Last one dated 12/14. If I drove it more this year it would prolly still be alive. But the Events have been cancelled.

Moved stuff around, cleaned, put the Camaro away for the year, and about to lay some plastic drop cloths down to spray some Blaster Surface Shield to the springs, diffs, frame etc of my Jeep tomorrow.

Our new to us, 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.8, got a new remote start as it will be my wife's winter beater for the foreseeable future.
Used to be my deceased MIL's car. My wife will not have to drive her Mustang in the winter anymore.
On the way home from our electronics installer, in the dark, the car started overheating.
So I am following along in my Mustang and stopping frequently to let it cool down and diagnosing.
Check engine light is ON, my wife said. So I am thinking they screwed the pooch and I will have to go take it back.
During a few cool down stops I diagnosed the fans were kicking in, the reservoir was okay.
No heat in the car says it is a mechanical issue....loss of coolant!
Okay maybe they didn't mess it up?
Now, the wife mentioned there was water on the driveway when she was leaving for work, a couple of days ago, but since work is a mile away, I am sure temperature never got up by the time she arrived.
So NOW.... I have a mechanical issue that started LONG BEFORE we got the remote start installed! WTF!!!
I am mad now...but she didn't realize when you have leaky water, it is a car issue!!!!.... *sigh*
Because it was dark, I cannot tell why the radiator is loosing coolant.
Everything on the car is black and I wear glasses and am old, can't see stuff well in the dark!
We limp it home.....
Next morning I open the cool radiator to add some water and I see water flowing out of the side of the radiator through a manufactured plastic opening!!!!!
Like WTF is this opening for? A radiator freeze plug missing? I can stick my pinky into the hole and plug the leak!
So I go check the dummy lights on the dash.... and low and behold, A "Low Coolant" light is also illuminated!
The wife never mentioned that a low coolant light was ON!!!! WTF, again!!!!
Ah, Ha! This car monitors low coolant...maybe that is where a sensor goes?!?!
So back in the engine compartment with a bright trouble light and..... Well, well, look what I found!
1105211139_HDR.jpg

There is a sensor laying next to the manufactured opening in the radiator!
So I pulled the clips for the headlight to get a better look at this electrical device...
1105211139a_HDR.jpg

And there it is! It is a low water level sensor that blew out of the radiator and caused all the problems!!!!
1105211138_HDR.jpg

What a piss poor design to hold the sensor in place and hold back at least 15 pounds of pressurized coolant!
A wire "clip" and 2 o-rings are all that hold the dam thing in place!
So I bent up the clip so it would have maximum bite on the flange that the unit clips into.
I wondered if there was over 15 psi in the system to cause this to blow out?
What caused the sensor to pop?
It drove over 1,000 miles recently on a road trip with no issues!
Could the electrical guys knocked it off...no, wait, the wife said there was a lot of water on the driveway before the install.
Still wonder why she didn't mention the Low Coolant trouble light!!!! WTF!!!!
So, I can only speculate the radiator cap did not relieve the over pressurization and it caused the sensor to blow off it's wire clip perch.
I went out and got a new radiator cap just to eliminate any future concerns with over pressurization of the system.
After all, that is a 22 year old radiator cap!
1105211139b_HDR.jpg

Added over a gallon of coolant as I was shocked on how much boiled off and the wife never mentioned the low coolant light!
WT...oh, hell!
1105211139c_HDR.jpg

Sure hope we didn't damage the engine running so hot. It twice shut down the car on the way home because of overheating.
So Once I got it filled up and bled, I took the car for a long drive and all seemed all right.
I just couldn't clear the Check Engine light.
So I hope she didn't do anything to the engine.
Will clear the codes when my mechanic friend scans it with his reader on Monday.
It would be a shame as it has only 93K on the OD and I just fixed all the rust on the rocker panels.
We should get another 100K easy on this vehicle!!!!
Crossing my fingers my wife won't overlook any future dummy lights!

More work on the step stool I am making and a continuation from yesterdays post.
Started putting it together.....
1106211300.jpg

I had to make a new bottom support as I didn't measure the angle of the side support very well.
Got the top glued and permanently mounted....
1106211300a.jpg

And stained the bottom support and painted another coat of blue.....
1106211517a.jpg
Currently letting a test area of clear dry to see if I like the results.
Again, I am no woodworker by any stretch on the imagination, I just got tools and like to putz.
Stay tuned for the final results....

Mostly outside the garage - set up a new heater and mounted with the thermostat in the greenhouse. Had to drill a hole through the base for the extenstion cord and put in a cable clamp. We are supposed to have our first frost tonight. Moved the rest of the plants into the greenhouse. Took a trailer load of tree limbs to the landfill. My trailer ramp did not want to let down and I think I bent the hinge a bit. Going to have to change the grease zirks on the hinges so I can get some grease in there and fix that hinge tomorrow.

I bought a Turbo Diesel Rabbit in ‘84 and drove it to’95. Even with it’s automatic transmission it was peppy.
One day while my mother was with me, and we were waiting at a light and young guy with an attractive young woman pulled up along side in what I would cal an open top roadster and he kept blipping the throttle as he waited for the light to change.
Mom said “He wants to race”
I nodded my head and when the light turned Green, I floored it and left them in a Cloud of Black Smoke, as we left him I asked my mother if he realized he was not only waxed by a Diesel, but a Diesel with an automatic transmission.

Just starting to get to work in my new garage! Still finishing up the building and cleaning up, but that won't stop me!

I put a new transfer case in the wife's "old" Benz.

WhatsApp Image 2021-11-06 at 1.09.37 PM.jpegAnd also moved everything away from the walls to prepare for spray foam insulation to go in on Thursday!
