Beautiful work there!

Those gaps - wow! Hopefully your cabinets and home are well acclimated and things do not move around too much with humidity changes.

Oh boy. Having your fate dependent upon 3rd party trades that are all running short of help being able to meet a short deadline?

Good luck lol.

On a more serious note, the kitchen is looking great! You've certainly put a lot of work into it so far. Maybe I missed it but why did you decide to build everything yourself? Not that that's a bad thing, just curious.

Talked with the granite shop this morning. They are supposed to template tomorrow and install Monday. We shall see.

Yeah that one wasn't supposed to end up that tight. I was going for 2mm/.080" or just under 3/32".

Color me super impressed! I'll be building my first furniture grade cabinet soon and your thread is serving as both coach and motivator.

Great work!

I posted once beofre here, but I just have to say, your work is lights out so awesome. The kitchen looks incredible. I'm really looking forward to seeing the greenhouse come together as well. Just such great attention to detail that is really valued. Hoped the gaps all work for the cabinets!

Thanks. I'm looking forward to the greenhouse as well.. just not the building part.. 😆.

All the gaps have worked out so far. The only one I'm slightly concerned about is the lazy susan.

Wow Jar it looks really professional. I’m really blown away, very impressive. And what a huge project.

From a design standpoint I like how you did some doors with glass panes. And the granite is a nice choice.

I know you’ve built lots of fancy stuff before, but you should be really proud of this one!

😊 Thanks.

I'm proud of it, but really tired of working on it..lol.

I'll be happy once it's finished. I can see the finish line, but it keeps moving a bit.

I had the lazy susan in and doors mounted yesterday only to realize the trays allow so much wobble the doors would flex and hit. Which would be annoying in and of itself, except for the fact I cut my finger working on the lazy susan I was building, which I stopped working on and just ordered a rev-a-shelf. Now only to start working on again..

Oh man, I feel your pain. I see cabinets already being 'moved into' with kitchen items before you're done.

Still, your work is fantastic and I imagine it will be so satisfying to see once completed. Bravo!

Lol yeah. My wife is a teacher and her last day was Friday. She started unpacking everything shortly after that.

It's going to make drilling the pulls interesting.

When's the granite coming?

Supposedly tomorrow, that remains to be seen. The granite shop just got the slabs today. They said they were still planning for tomorrow to install. If they stick to it it's a fast turnaround for sure.

I see you have the Fisher & Paykel dish drawers. We love ours!

I like seeing the dial calipers on the island. Precision indeed!

Yep, Fisher & Paykel. Seems nice so far..lol.

The kitchen aid beverage fridge was the biggest problem. The panels were a obvious design afterthought on their part. A poor manual and incompetent dimensions. 8.5mm and 9.5mm do not both convert to the same dimensions in imperial like they did on the printed manual.

As for the calipers, I keep them by my side for all woodwork. In this case layout of the panels and measuring shims for setting the drawer fronts.

Most of my experience has been with the cheap builder grade type cabinets. We recently built a house with custom cabinets and when the cabinet guy told me it would take a couple weeks for install I didn't understand why. Once they showed up to deliver everything I realized why. It is a ton of work installing custom cabinets.

You kitchen is looking fantastic, great job.

I envy your skills and productivity.

When you are done, you can come finish my kitchen project; I am just up the road from you.

I manage new construction homes for the day job and frankly I am burnt out on my seemingly never ending house projects. My kitchen extension is weather tight now. Just can't get motivated to do the trade roughs and finding competent available labor is a challenge.

Lol yeah I told my wife 2 weeks to install before this started and she couldn't understand why it would be that long.

I'm pretty burnt out myself. If not for Christmas and hosting the family I would be less motivated.
