Wow wow wow. I can't begin to say thank you enough to astro tools. It is an amazing thing to have someone like you who participates in this secret Santa every year. one of the coolest shop lights I've ever seen. Seriously the magnet on this thing is crazy, and the suction base is such a great idea.

Thank you again astro tools for the amazing gifts!

Here is my cool story about Astro tools. I couple of years ago I was grinched and Astro Tools stepped up to the plate to fill in. That same light was included in my package from them. I absolutely love the light and at least 2 people in my neighborhood have purchased one after seeing and using mine.

You're welcome :) put it to good use! I left the plywood case blank so you can personalize it however you want. Its a tight fit!

Big thanks to dozerhand for the gifts, he did his homework and knew the type of things I like. He especially hit the coffee right on point, this being an Italian household we have already used half the bag to make 6 pots of the amaretto coffee. It wont last the weekend!
I can finally get rid of the older #120 catalog I've been hanging onto :)

I've not been very active lately, life has gotten in the way! Thanks to my SS for the universal gift, a great light, and GJ alliance! I'll put everything to good use. I hope you will identify yourself, thank you!!

Sorry, I forgot to post. I got a 3/8 drive shallow set of sae Craftsman sockets, Milwaukee mechanics gloves, a gift card for Harbor Freight and 500 rounds of 22LR ! I shook the box every day trying to figure out what was rattling around inside! I thought I had a box of rocks but it was the 22 shells that had come open inside! Ha Ha! Thank you Santa!

Stonesfan68 spent a small fortune on the gifts, and then another on shipping. The assortment of tools are premium, include things I would have never thought of purchasing, and all fit into my sphere of need.

I'm immensely thankful!

Knipex slip joint pliers - you should see the slip joints this is going to replace; not only are the knipex 10 levels nicer, but well needed.

Grypmat - I didn't even know these were a thing. Every time I work on my E30 (BMW), I end up putting the tools and bolts ontop of the intake because there is no great place to put my magnetic tray. All the steel is rust proofed (oily) and with the intake being aluminum magnets dont stick.

This is an awesome solution to rid me of my 'tools rolling off my intake' problems.

Klein Stubby multi - I have a full size multi gifted from years past that I use way more than I expected, and it came with a stubby, but that stubby has extra small bits for extra small screws. This stubby has normal sized bits, and is exactly what I've needed to supplement my set.

10mm Master set - Now I can sleep well knowing I have a backup when (not if) I loss a 10mm.

SK Bottle opener - This ones going right on the side of my toolbox

Made in USA Grips x2 - I currently have two grips, and have felt for a long time that I should get more since many applications have called for more. Quality made in USA pliers fit the bill!

Local Texas treats - My wife has been suspiciously eyeing them; i'm thinking I should eat them soon.

Happy holidays to Stonesfan68 and all. This tradition is really a highlight every year for me. Every gift I've received over the years is in frequent use and this year looks to be no exception.
I’m glad that you like the gift! I hope that you have a great New Year!

Just a suggestion ... I think the 'hints' part of the secret Santa should be one of the rules of participation.
I’ve never left a hint, and have never been disappointed in what I received. I also don’t look at the hint section. I get a kick out of reading posts and trying to sort out something that will work.

Merry Christmas! I got a nice box of goodies from up north, from Mr t_roze. A bunch chocolate and 3 nice multi-bit screwdrivers, all Canadian made! It also came with a nice letter. I realize my posts have been few and far between lately so I could've been hard to shop for, but whatever anyone else thinks is cool I will too, and these will all be super handy to have around the house and in the garage or in the car. This was my first year and I think it was an absolute blast, I was way more excited for this gift than I have been for a long time. I am already looking forward to next year! Many thanks to t_roze and gjss for making this happen.
Your most welcome. I realized from creeping your profile your a vice guy. I did hunt around here for something to that affect, but with shipping and time constraints I knew that wasn’t going to happen!

I have been looking for a nice Wilton bullet here for years. Have yet to find one! I hope one day, once borders open freely and we can move again, to make a holiday down to the west coast of the states and scrounge up one when we are down there!

Bree S. knocked it out of the park today. She obviously did some reading on the hints thread. I honestly never expect anything in particular, I love the surprise of whatever I receive. But there’s something to be said about getting things that check off your wish list!

I got a fantastic range bag, which I am hoping to break in on Monday… if the temperature comes up from -32C at all. Lol. I can’t wait to fill it up. I have been bringing my big beach cantilever tool box with me to the bench, this will totally fill that roll and make life a lot easier (and lighter)!!

We got some shooting rest bags that I was actually looking at with my daughter while we were Christmas shopping for her sister lol. I have been using the range bags, but having my own is going to be awesome! Hopefully they will help me hit the bulls eye on those splatter targets! Not sure if it was the gun supplies, or the stainless steel knife that got border security interested… I am guessing the knife! Gotta make sure there is no spring in them Canadian knives… Haha. I’ll put it to good use, being stainless it’s going to be a great range and blind knife!

And last but not least, I got some great snap-on garage art, which is going to go right on the GJSS wall of honour!

Thanks Bree, Merry Christmas to all, and thanks Santa and his elves for all their hard work to make this all happen!

A big Texas sized thank you to drsung. I really appreciate everything you got me. It was cool to have a Secret Santa not too far away from me in Baton Rouge. Most Garage Journal members are far from me.

First I'll start with the tools. I can never have too many adjustable wrenches. Can't go wrong with Klein. I always love to get vintage tools in good shape. I like my little plane. I haven't had the experience of losing my 10mm sockets yet, but I won't ever lose one now that I have extras. Next, I got some local pecans that were a hit with my family. The seasonings and rice mixes will definitely get used. We normally use Tony's which is very similar to Slap Ya Mama. Lastly, I received some seeds I can use in my vegetable garden this spring. Thanks again.

I also want to say a brief thank you to the people that run GJSS which do a great job of coordinating it. I was late to sign up and they were able to include me. I had a great time participating and look forward to next year.

Sorry for the late post.
Thank you so much Henry.

I got an hand made knife complete with a Kydex sheath, Henry is truly a craftsman knife maker.
He also made me a 3D printed sanding block that will see heavy use today on a project I have going in the shop.
Finally, he also sent me a Wera torque screw driver. I have a recurring task in the shop that requires 8 in/lb and this will be there perfect tool for that job.

Thank you so much Henry and thanks to all the volunteers that work so hard to make the SS such a great GJ event every year.

So the BlueBomber hit the target on the nose.

Hat that won't fly off. Check. That squamous cell thing they took off the top of my head this summer has converted me to hats for life. Perfect color style and weight.

Shellfish tools. These are clearly TOOLS, and count toward full GJ credit. The cracker will double up on local walnuts in addition to shellfish. The precision shears! Perfect for cleaning soft shell crabs. Hammers. Like 10 mm sockets, tape measures, utility knives you can never have enough because you can never find them when you need them. The forks will be great for digging the last of the meat from the crab claws. They will also be great for eating oysters. I am blessed to have oysters growing in the creek in my backyard.

Local jerky. I love jerky. I have been low carbing since the 4th of July trying to get all the weight I gained during covid back off. I am down about 35 pounds, 10-15 to go. So this is a perfect snack. And I love that it is local to BlueBomber. The Sacred Cod seafood spice. Wow. I am excited to try it. I have some frozen cod in the freezer. Atlantic cod. The correct cod. When at Costco or wherever and I am grabbing cod, I am reading the label, and my wife is always asking what I am doing. I tell her If it is Atlantic I am buying, if it is Pacific I am not. She is more of a salmon person so she does not understand. In reading the label I am thinking a little in butter when roasting oysters and dipping them. We had a big run of puppy drum (small redfish 18-25 inches) in the creek this year. I brought a vacuum sealed pack up to town from the freezer. I think they are going to be tested with the Sacred Cod seasoning too.

Finally the "tools". I love USA tools so they are perfect. 1/2 wrench is like 10mm socket. Where the heck is it hiding! I am also partial to Proto. I recently bought an old 1/2" Fleet socket set off of ebay on a posting by four.cycle in the ebay/auction thread in Hot Deals. They date to before Proto bought Penans and started making the Fleet line themselves. 12 sockets in very nice condition and a 1661 ratchet. four.cycle and others posted info to help me with ratchet reassembly. I have it apart and cleaned, but not yet reassembled as wrapping operations overwhelmed the project.

So thanks a million to BlueBomber!!!

I can tell you the "WORX" hand cleaner is amazing, I have a couple of gallons and it will prob. last me the rest of my life. Just a little bit in your palm and it will cut grease like crazy. Don't wash your hands till the slick goes away that is the natural oils in your hands. I use it to take grease from clothes, ink and what ever you think you cant get out. Start with a little bit about the size of a quarter. P.S. sorry but I'm not your SS just a tool man who use to sell it.;)
how do you get out ink?

You are very welcome. I really wanted to send you some Ammo but I could not figure out what you had. But I knew you kept that bike waxed.

Great gifts and some great stories this year!

We had 64% report in on Christmas day, and are up to 70% so far today as of 8:45 ST (Santa Time).
Holidays are always busy, so we know not everyone can post on the day, but don't forget! xmas

Happy Holidays! Glad to hear you got everything and very glad to hear, that despite customs inspections, it still got to you with plenty of time for the holidays. Huge thanks for posting on the hints thread, definitely was a HUGE help!

Huge thanks to GJSS and all of the great people of Garage Journal for putting this great exchange on year after year!

The great thing about GJSS is how many emotions it drags up. I guess I've come up with 15 different ones, maybe this isn't the same for everyone, but these are mine, feel free to add:

First, the anticipation about it opening up for the new year.

Then, the anticipation about it closing and seeing the head count of those opting in.

Next is the anticipation of who you're going to draw and what do you get them.

When you find out whom you've drawn, now its down to brass tacks on how to gift them. The clock is ticking.

Now its aquiring the gift or gifts, either by shopping local, shipping from a third party, handcrafting an item, having someone else custom craft an item for you.

Next is making sure it gets shipped in time for the recipient to receive them before Christmas.

The agony of tracking the shipment hoping it gets there on time.

The anticipation of them posting their photo of said gift and their wonderment of what it is and who sent it.

Finally being able to open your gift to see what you received. I have never, ever been disappointed.

Posting what you received and writing the thank you.

Seeing the responses to what others think of what you received.

Seeing the response of the giver on how much you liked it and often their thought process of what to send. (I get ideas from these for future GJSS.)

The constant refreshing of the thread to see what everyone else gets and the responses of those.

The Polar Express has a scene about the first gift of Christmas, we get concerned about the last gift of Christmas, hoping no one gets Grinched and if someone does, seeing the great members who go out of their way to send a second gift to make sure everyone is taken care of.

And finally, dreaming about how you'll top what you gave for next year. The getting is great, but the giving is magical.

So very well put 1320! I think you captured it VERY well!!

I think I can add one: Seeing the reactions of other family members -whether it is for what you got, or what they may have also received (or claimed! 🤣 )...

Or two - The smile it puts on your face from time to time! (I love the stories, and the family interactions that are sometimes mentioned) - SO's wrapping the package or seeking looks to verify it is a GJSS gift, the pics if the kids... Lot's more!)

All in all it' all about the complete experience, - far more than what you received!

My SS was Zach. He sent me a fantastic gift. I got a black Leatherman Micra, a set of 2 CLC tool bags (I mentioned I had one stolen this year) and a really cool anvil that he cast from Nordic gold. He left it unfinished so I can leave it as is or finish and polish it. I think when I get time I'll finish cut off the pour gate, sand and debur the flash and edges and polish it and set it on my shelf of cool and unique mechanical items in my office.

He also sent a picture of himself operating a 130T crawler crane and a nice hand written note. It was perfect and checked all the boxes of things I really enjoy.

Thanks so much and Merry Christmas!

Mrs. Cat makes a paste with it and rubs it on then puts it in the wash. I guess it would make a difference how dry it is, but its some good stuff, its also good for getting grease out, just use it the same way.

Very blessed. Thank you very much to my secret Santa. Will have to do a bit of research to figure out who it is, but received an awesome package. Got a local skate/board shop shirt, triangle(use these all the time, can never have enough) some build kits to assemble with my lil boys as well as a snap on f80 ratchet and some other snap on goodies. Got an awesome letter on top of it. Thank you again. Very blessed.

I'm absolutely certain now that my sent parcel has been stolen, since the recipient has been posting within the last few days. These things happen I guess but gutting nevertheless.

EDIT ... all received so that's a relief!

Wow my Secret Santa went above and beyond. Just got home and opened package - some good coffee and chocolate from Spain (my kids were real bored about the “tool secret Santa” until they saw this!”, utility and Sawzall blades, a paint pen, nice USA Xcelite mini cutter and Williams USA 19mm stubby ...

and 2 things I’ve been admiring but have been too cheap to buy for myself - Knipex TwinGrip pliers and a new Malco USA Eagle Grip LP7WC! These are works of art in tool form. Absolutely awesome.

Thanks to Secret Santa and to the organizers, and this great community

I intentionally did not post in the hints post, because I wanted some originality in the gifts. I didn’t want to have a list for them to pick from.

That being said, not only did I get a neat new pen, I got a badass shirt, AND in my size.

Way to go SS! You had nothing to work with, and you knocked it out of the ballpark! Thank you!

Thank you Noid!!!Secret Santa 2021.JPG

I received a Rolgear ratcheting screwdriver. Wow this thing rotates as smooth as silk. I've wanted to try a Rolgear but have never gotten around to ordering one. The best part is that it is made in Canada, the country my SS lives in.
Lovely ratcheting driver that!
