Finished processing the rest of the mahogany for the aquarium stand. Will let it sit a few days and then plane it down and hopefully finish the stand this weekend.

That’s pretty cool, but you might could have just put one of the ten or so lights you have in the background up instead. Just sayin. lolI was needing a light that was movable. So here’s my take on one.
I used a eight foot fluorescent light converted to LED. Made a frame with 3/4 conduit and made collars and hinges from some scrap pipe. I soaked the parts of the conduit in acid to remove the galvanized coating on the parts that was to be welded. Turned my trusty old stick welder to lowest setting to weld the thin conduit.![]()
I like seeing what I’m doingThat’s pretty cool, but you might could have just put one of the ten or so lights you have in the background up instead. Just sayin. lol
Preaching to the choir..lol The trick is to actually use the things we hoard. If you’re talking about all the fixtures on the shel, I’m a scrounger.
I have a habit of saving stuff from jobs that can be reusable
I do as needed, some of these fixtures are supposed to go in the daughters garage. Still waiting on them to get the wire.Preaching to the choir..lol The trick is to actually use the things we hoard.
just some rustoleum rattle can and 4 coats of paint and 2 clearLooks great.
Can you share the type of paint you used? How many coats?
I like the way you laid your hinges out for this glue up and will be using this later this week.
I sort of have the same problem. i just finished cleaning out the family home in Pa after my last brother died. The garage is so full. I gave a bunch of stuff away but it seems like I have 10 of everything.Re: what did you do in your garage today?
I recently inherited a million tools so I have been spending the past week going through all of them and putting sets together... I have way to many tools and not enough garage space! Sounds crazy I know but you have to see what im working with! The best part is there is alot of vintage snap on tools so ive been having a blast hooking them up!
Thanks, super strong. The front and rear frames are 3 layers of 3/4in with 3rd inner layer inset 1/2in to make the inner box flush. Inner box is to support the drawers. Only part of 3rd layer started in that pic.I like the way you laid your hinges out for this glue up and will be using this later this week.
Yes - there is a lip for the man door to seat on the partial door (that also opens - held in place by barrel bolts). The problem literally was two fold - I didn't bevel the man door for the swing in and I literally had too small of a gap to allow for expansion. It could be that my garage moves more than it should - but a wood framed vinyl sided garage will do that and when you combine that with 5 feet of wood screen doors then things just don't stay where you want them to if you don't allow for it.As long as it seats on the door jam, outside clearance just doesn't matter a lot. Did you put lip on the left side partial door, for the man door to seat on?
Checked the garage temp (yesterday). Just above 40 Degs with a 19 deg ambient. The two HVAC vents in our 3 car are just enough to stay above freezing. It gets down to somewhat below zero F, but not that often. Lowest we've seen during the last 8 years was near 20 below IIRC.
