Fixed the Mayes Squangle I picked up today from an estate sale - the PO had replace the lock screw with a too amll, etl screw, adn the hinge screw with a nail bent over... All brass hardware now.. Also scrubbed off the rust stains off the aluminum, and took off the raised dings that were in bad places...

Put other new to me tools away.

gabion baskets are ready for install. Got the 16' section panels put together with hog rings, jimmied the alignments some more and then crimped the rings as tight as I could. They're pretty straight.
The wall is 22'L, the wire panels are 16'L, so there's a 16'L section and a 6'L section, which will be joined together when placed.

Still need rocks, going to a wholesale vendor on the other side of the valley next week, see if I can work a deal. They seem to be the only people with the size of rock I want (4-10" rush / rip rap).
Probably doing the skidsteer work to notch the front edge of the yard slope this week. Trying to avoid doing the work the same time the next door neighbor is having their pool / patio deck poured. Near as I can tell, that is imminent.
Need rebar or t-posts for staking the back side of the baskets to the ground. Metal prices are nuts.
Still need to take this 12ga? galvanized wire and chop it into 18-20" lengths to make wire ties / internal bracing for the baskets, which I'll add when the baskets are staked in place.

And I cut some lumber and 2" pvc pipe sections for the back patio wall capstone mold buck project. But those pieces are now in the house warming up before I hot glue them together, prior to splitting them on the table saw. Using hot glue to bond them and at 48F the glue will be chilled before I get to the other end of the 24" pipe. So warming things up before the glue-up.

What I end up doing is bringing everything in to the middle of the shop piled up then move the pile around until I hit a arrangement that works for me then go back and move items around after the first arrangement. Sometimes stuff will be move four and five times until I hit on arrangement I like.

That’s been my approach at my current garage. Brought in a LOT of totes from the previous house. Put them in the open space where a car gets parked. Opened them up and then I just put stuff in the area where I think it’ll be. Then move it. Then move it again. Then again. Lol. Finally I think I got stuff where everything will work out. Stuff is probably gonna get moved a little bit again. And especially when I get concrete poured in the pole barn and electricity in there. Then everything gets moved AGAIN! Hahaha

Guys, go back to your childhood - paper dolls...

Draw the floor outline to scale - including door windows or other key features.

Draw the major items - Same scale - tool boxes, benches, compressor, welder - even the cars/rigs...

Cut them out - and punch a few holes with a paper punch - -put scotch tap over the holes.

NOW "play with your "paper dolls" place them, move them, try different layouts, when you get one that seems OK Take a pic. then go again. get other's thoughts. Think about where you work and where the tools are (same concept as the "kitchen work Triangle")

It works and works well.

Went to a rental and got my cardio in by climbing the stairs to the upper floor. Located the probable source of the leak during periods of wind blown rain. Supervised the replacement of an HVAC filter and a receptical, purchased some groceries and changed the oil in my generator set after a test running. Followed by a nice nap.

I am the same way , my current place everything went into the middle and started from there and yes things got moved 4-5 times. it took me about 4 weeks to get it " set up " and another 4 weeks to get it " fine tuned "

I have been in my current place only a little over a year. perhaps fine tune isn't the right term. it is very functional now but I have more than a few ideas to make it more user friendly so the improvements shall continue.

Changed the two transmission oil cooler lines on my wife's car and changed the oil in my car. Then messed around with a 1940 Craftsman worm drive circular saw and had a bit of an oopsie by cracking the aluminum blade guard trying get it off. Gonna do some damage control tomorrow I guess and go from there.

I've had a Honda CB750 sitting in the corner for two years with a locked up engine. I've tried every remedy I know and all that were suggested. Nothing worked to get it unstuck. I was planning to pull the engine and take it apart when I had an idea. I pulled the alternator cover and used a mechanic's pry bar to turn the rotor. It worked! The engine is turning free but on the first rotation I got covered from head to toe in two years worth of various witch's brews which came squirting out the spark plug holes.

I think that is true for 98% of us. I been here at this location 23 years and I still have the garage and recycling inside the door of my shop and the thing is I do not like the spot I put them but I also want them to be easy to get once I step inside the shop. I do not want them outside as we have critters that get into them outside.

Predrill a pilot always and use bar soap on the threads as that reduces the torque required immensely.

My dad always had a bar of soap in the shop! With the modern screws and drivers not needed so much. I still keep a bar handy just for those special occasions!

Changed fluid in my differential. Also added a map sensor space and new map sensor. After some time soot gets into the sensor and causes it to throw CEL. I figured it was time to replace.

I have that same cleaner. Ive had better luck with replacement. The sensor was only 60 bucks. Its got 113k on it. When I took off it was pretty dirty with soot. I think the spacer will help prolong the life of the sensor and keep it from throwing codes. The spacer isn't CARB compliant where I live. When I get it smoged I might have to take it off. Pretty crappy that I had to have it shipped to my moms address out of state. The company wouldn't even ship it to me.

Thats more than likely your problem, have the tire dismounted, rim cleaned and tire remounted.

I decided to replace the rubber feet on my bench grinder with Neodymium cup magnets. Each magnet claims to hold 60 lbs. So far it seems to work ok. The magnets have incredible strength when you try to lift it off my steel work bench, but it does slide with a bit of effort so I not sure if that will be an issue or not. At least it doesn't dance all over the place any more. I wish I had a better place to bolt it down, but this is better for now. Mounting it to some metal stock that I could clamp it down may be the next step.

bought a gallon of evapo rust at HF today, (on sale for 21 and got the 20% off on top...go me)

too the garage we went, me and my evaporust, hand and hand, then i got a dozen or so rusty tools out and got them soaking, kept checking back all day, gonna let them soak over night...when i peaked they looked pretty sweet...

Got all my old gas out of the gas cans and into the truck and took all the cans to Sams club to fill everything up at $3.31 a gallon, including topping off the truck and my wifes winter beater.
Got back into the garage and using masking tape dated all the cans full of gas along with adding Mystery Oil and Staybil to each can,
I store the cans in a old metal pantry opposite wall from the furnace. I have 20 gallons of emergency reserve and full tanks in the vehicles should WW3 happen. Considering I live 5 miles from O'hare International Airport, I doubt I will survive a first strike, but I am prepared. We have a place to go in Galena, Il should nuclear war happen...are you ready? Never been close since the Cuban Missile crisis.

Yesterday installed the battery in my truck. Starts up like new now. Today probably will rotate tires on the Escape. They need to be done for some reason it likes to wear the tires in the front more than the rear even though it’s a 4WD. Also going to inspect the brakes on it too I know the rotors are warped so I’m going to see how much life the pads have left. I already have the new pads and rotors just want to get maximum life out of these lol. Rotors have been replaced once by previous owner in about 2014 or so according to records and I put pads on it about 25,000 miles ago.

My Uncle dropped off 10 gallons of Kerosone that he had being storing for years and no longer wanted. This will heat my garage for a month. Kerosene is $5/gal. around here. Glad that I strained through the small brass mesh filter that's built into my funnel as there was lots of **** in the bottom of those containers.

Disappointed myself when I realized my wife's EZ-Go Workhorse golf cart's wheelbase is not wide enough for the Wildfire lift. When I did the measuring before getting the lift I knew the tires wouldn't fit fully but I thought it would be enough. After trying it I learned the soft low pressure tires would make it unsafe. That means my TXT EZ-Go with ATV tires will have the same issue. I got the lift in part hoping to use it for working on the carts. I'm going to see how they fit sideways but more hassle for sure.

I did this for my lawn tractor to get on the scissor lift.
