Hopefully S isn't up yet.
I fell asleep for a half hour then gave up. I am at the Hill unloading things and grabbing some tools, then headed to the SG or my Buddy’s shop, all depends on what he has going on. Looks like I am going to have to use the tire chains to get Perk and the trailer down the Hill, we got another 2” last night and it won’t be warm enough today to melt things back to dirt.

I think someone on YouTube tried to use it to spin over a diesel. Deboss Garage? Here's one, but I don't think this is it.

Dude is a pretty darn good mechanic on all sorts of stuff - tractor trailers, diesel pickup trucks, foreign race cars, domestic cruisers, etc.
Lots of interruptions today, did manage to get 90% of the hydraulic power pack assembled. Tomorrow it will get a little bit of wiring done so it will start with the key.
I brought Perk and the new trailer over to my Buddy’s shop, had to put tire chains on to get down the Hill, even then I had a couple slide to the side moments. At least at his place there is a power cord to plug Perk in, so the cold temps shouldn’t be an issue.

Yep, that's definitely a cool project. I've ripped around in armored personnel carriers before (M113) back in my infantry days. They're a lot of fun to tear through the woods in.
The big impact took off the nut with no issues and no need for heat. I then had to do a lot of hammer persuasion and some heat to get the remnants of the bear out of the support. I also made the executive decision that I was going to remove the pivot portion, then I realized the pulley needs to be split, "no problem" (the boss says in his head), well two broken bolts, one bent bracket, and an 1/8" of movement and the boss need to be fired. Now I have a mess, going to have to deal with it another time, preferably inside the shop. This needs to be done anyways, as the cable has been terminated incorrectly, plus it could use new cable. Of course that is only the start, I have to hook up the fuel tank, fix the throttle cable linkage, figure out the tracks and why they don't work on this machine, probably more than a weeks worth of work, but I see the track crane as being integral to my spring cleanup.

I need a big impact but don't think i'm willing to pay for it!
It certainly isn’t cheap, but it will pay for itself in effort savings, at least in my mind.
Got the trailer functioning, winch works, there is one leaking ram, but other than that it looks pretty good. One thing I don’t like is the hydraulic tail is gravity down, it has a dual action ram, but it doesn’t power down, so it is slow and that is annoying. I will address that later, for now functional is great. I feel like this was cutting it pretty close, not knowing if things were going to work all while telling the guy I would be there at 8 AM. Pictures tomorrow, ram out of daylight.
One thing we did find is that there is a nice drain on the bottom of the hydraulic tank, it has a valve with a pipe plug to protect it from an accidental spill.
Someone was smart, because it is exactly the way we installed one over by the filter, neither one of us saw this before tonight, go figure.

As someone who used to work around cranes, if you have any worry at all about that cable replace it before you use it.
And when you get a new one give it a good coating of wire rope grease. 100% worth it.

The cable is probably fine for my situation, but I feel better having a new cable, of course I may change my mind when I see how expensive the cable is, this crane has a four part line, so there is a lot of cable on it, I would guess 175 ‘ or more.
Today was a success, the forklift drove onto the trailer, but the winch does work. We had a tire pop off the bead on the way there, nasty 160 degree turn I made and lower air pressure (I should have checked all the tires last night) , couldn’t get it back on the bead. I know I could have used starting fluid and some fire, but I didn’t have ether (get it?), anyways it was an inside dual and we just pulled the forklift up closer to Perk and added air to every other tire, we maxed it back without any issues.
The next trip went off without a hitch, even got it parked in a decent location for transferring things to and from it.
