I spent 2 weeks trying to meet for this ad on FBMP. When we were finally able to get together she said "lots of people wanted this but you were the most persistant"

Armstrong 3/4" Ratchet, hacked up Armstrong wrenches, Gedore Germany wrenches, unknown striking wrenches and big Sockets. I will post some more pics when I clean them up this weekend. The 2nd ratchet disappeared before I got them but the price was right.

Everything is as expensive as hell right now, but I don't think it is going to get better for a while, so I splurged a little bit. But, on the pulse side, the credit rate we got was so low that I am not even going to try refinancing it. In any case, it's a 2018 Frontier, with less than 40k on the odometer.
Very nice, you shouldn't need a new truck any time soon! Although I'm kinda disappointed that it's not Beaver Orange...

Like most of the winter I live, no yard sales, fleas, or estates, and basically working 6 day 56 hour weeks (not complaining), I’ve been relegated to online picking in the form of auctions.

Local online tool auction netted me the following. Most of the stuff I did not get went for prices I could have bought new off a truck for less. Don’t get why people pay above retail for…. whatever.

Anyway, snagged a little rabble of MAC sockets. Some 1/2” drive impact SAE, A SAE deep, couple 3/8 drive SAE, and 3/8” drive metric 7-12 & 16/17

Also grabbed a DAYTON set hoping they might be Bonney, but they are THORSEN and are 3/8” drive metric 6 points, 9mm-19mm

More coming in via the auction site that I’ll post when they arrive. All I can say is that I can’t wait until the weather breaks because I’ve been paying through the nose for stuff. Can’t wait to get an actual deal. 6210FD51-6C03-4C21-819C-3B98CE37F823.jpeg7261F6A3-88D0-489A-94DB-3769B32D3122.jpeg

^ The "Dayton" brand was Grainger's private-label house brand. They outsourced from a number of vendors. My 1/4" Dayton set is all Thorsen made as well. They also outsourced from Bonney and Herbrand (and who knows who else?)

Thanks for the confirmation 4C. I did not get to preview so I was going by seat of the pants. Was surprised that most of it was metric.

I was near my area ReStore today, so I stopped in for a look around. I came away empty handed. I saw a few interesting tools, but nothing I didn't already have three or more of, and certainly not at the prices they were asking. Hey, I know it's a fundraiser and all, but still. Heading down to Virginia to my Mom's place again this Friday. I have my eye on a sale in Leesburg. Maybe I'll have better luck there.

Restores in NOVA are ridiculously priced and don’t seem to ever have much to look through. Good luck at the sale in Leesburg.

Spotted this Carba-tec lathe for sale on $75 the other day. It said includes box. When I messaged it was pending PU but I asked her to advise if it was not picked up. Next day I got a call to come and get it. The box was a very well thought out cabinet with drawers, removable adjustable legs, work light, vent fan for the motor, pull out work surface, and drawers. Plus the box has storage for the tools in the top. The tool rest is wrong but I can make one easily enough.

Unusual Wednesday Estate Sale where SIg O wanted and got a spiffy chair and we discovered other stuff; some more Griswold, a Utica and a Kelly Hammer.

My first marketplace score. I may never use them at my current shop, but I wanted them anyways.

Here are a few things from last weekend that I just got around to pulling out of the tub that they were in.

The Plomb driver has unfortunately been converted to a punch but I think I might try to put it on my buddy's knife grinder to reshape the head. I grabbed the little rule just because it had a local business on it and for whatever reason I can't say no to a VlChek punch/chisel. That stuff was 4 bucks and the rest of the stuff was 6. A buck a tool for the Snap on impact socket, Bonaloy combo, Wright rat, W. Germany "Supreme" calipers, and bp hammer head. All of the nozzles were another buck:)

We passed on the first day of this estate sale I spotted on Craigslist as the ad didn’t mention tools. Since we were going to be close to the sale today, we stopped by for a look. After quite a bit of digging, we came home with these rusty treasures. Many of the auger bits are Irwin.

I couldn’t decide whether to grab the Craftsman soldering gun or not but the seller threw it in. Maybe one of the Craftsman experts can give us an idea of when it was made. Trade material for Outlaw? Or do we have a second nozzler on the thread? :)
I might be a nozzler...I thought I could just buy a couple as I like these for users far more than the plastic dreck that dominates the market these days. But now I buy them every time I see them, I certainly don't need the 10+ that I have now. So yeah, it might be a collection!

I swear you've got a magnet in your funny bone for drill indices, Don. Everyone has that one type of Laws of Attraction tool, and drill indices are definitely yours.
The multi tool screwdriver is unmarked but unusual
I found the same one last year. Yours has one more socket and the cool screwdriver bit adapter!

I’m no nozzler, but I do have a few, and when I see them they do trigger my hoarder gene..lol

D42Jeep that 250 watt iron is pretty awesome, I bet with a good cleaning and a new tip it would be a tank.

You're both in denial.

Although I have seen them at flea markets, I really didn't know this was a thing until I noticed Outlaw collecting them. Now there're three of you. I think we should just blast the doors open on this particular closet and just have a 'Who has the most vintage nozzles?' contest. Everyone reports in on, oh, let's say, April 14, which is National Gardening Day. (Duplicates don't count!) :)

Don, Lugz... guess what I picked up last weekend...
great little unmarked saw, a GE oven temp tester, a late 1800s "Little Hustler" toy motor, and ... yep.. the little multi-driver to round out the GJ "they come in 3s effect"

Don: No idea as to the age of that soldering gun but I bet it gets pretty uncomfortable to hold if you ignore that 1 min on 4 min off duty cycle!

saukit: I've got an identical W. German caliper, its in my box for daily use.

that multi-socket metal-handled driver thing is pretty cool. I'm guessing we have NO idea who made that, right?
Right. I'm pretty sure I posted mine somewhere other than here last year when I found it (either the hollow multi-tool thread or perhaps the midget thread...), but it was never ID'ed.

I'm feeling like I have the Good Sisters of the Poor Charity Box version without the screwdriver bit that Don and Duds have! :)

Theres the other side... tried 30 times to upload, all fail, cropped (and I suppose renamed), and the pic uploaded...but even before edit, it was smaller than the other pics???

Anyway my friend picked up 2 knaack boxes of pretty random tools and parts from the estate of an Indian guy, and we are trying to figure out what's what when we are sick of trying to fix my friends 40,000lb Allis Chalmers log grappler.PXL_20220301_003018017~2.jpg
