Better! Is that a stock color or custom? I like how the a pillars match the cloth top!
I wrapped it in Matte OD Green myself (my first time trying it, not perfect). I skipped wrapping that upper frame initially and meant to do it but then like you, I thought it looked good like that.

The actual color of the car is Impala Brown which a lot of people like and it's kinda rare but I really don't like it. My next attempt will be a Gulf Racing Livery.

Keep an eye on the rear deck mount perches(?) where they mount to the deck. Mine cracked there, had the boy weld the cracked one and also put some reinforcement beads on the other one.
Thanks for the heads up!

Fortunately(?) the previous owner already rectified a (potential?) problem, as it looks like it’s been welded and then repainted over the welds. There does not appear to be a crack on the underside as far as I can tell.

Went to a rental that plans to vacate at the end of May, I accompanied a buddy of a prospective tenant, the present tenant showed the prospective tenants buddy around as he took pictures for the prospective tenant.

Hopefully we will have a smooth turnover.

I forced myself to cleanup enough stuff to access the weight bench and moved a little iron tonight!

Here are some pictures of the homemade 'slip roll' tooling that came with my lathe.

That's more like a bead roll or some kind of forming roll than a slip roll. Slip roll has 3 rollers. Are there more rollers with it? Cause those two are surely not matched.

Anything's possible, extra tools could be included in the machine stuff.... It is just two opposing rollers. I tried to roll a piece of soft hydraulic tubing through and it has no traction on the rollers.

Not the way it's set it wouldn't. The rolls look rough enough to engage. It doesn't take much. You'll need to "unscrew" the adjusting bit on top to get it to "clamp down" on your tubing. Right now it's got way too much play to engage.

Continuing on with my tool chest swap (Snap On Classic 78 to a Masters Krl 1022) because it was full. I removed the casters because 46" is just a little too tall for me. I built a base from 2x4's to set it on, but it's just a few inches too low.

My work bench was also only 24" deep, so that will have to be modified as well.

But moving the tools over has been fun, but made me appreciate some of the organization you guys have in your drawers.

Refreshed my bench grinder.

I was given this bench grinder back in 2000.
IMG_3341.JPG

I had some free time yesterday, so I decided to give it a good cleaning and paint it.
I also installed a wire-wheel on one end.

The stand is made up of an old car wheel, a section of pipe and flat plate. I plan to fill the upper half of the wheel with concrete to make it a bit more stable.

I bought that same grinder model, back in the day and have mine on a stand that my Dad made, back in the "real" day.

Not much inside the garage besides putting the new steering wheel for the Ariens in there, grab the ramps, then headed out to grab this beauty. She is said to run but needs a transmission(?). I know nothing about it besides it has a kohler engine.

Anyone more versed than I know how to identify the model number or anything? It’s fairly dirty and I have not been able to locate a data tag or anything yet, though I have no idea where to look.

That’s ****** BRILLIANT! Why did I not think of that?!?! Bwahahahahaha

Seriously though, no offense taken. I got a laugh out of it :D

I was actually hoping for a specific spot to look for, so I wasn’t going through a wild goose chase in goose ****. I wasn’t planning on pressure washing the whole thing, as my hose “was” still frozen.

As far as in the garage, on the Ariens, I got the deck put back on, installed the new steering wheel, and decided to take it out for its first mow since being fixed. I did not replace the belt, and it bit me in the ***. It kept coming off when I disengaged the deck. That, and the adjustment rod in the front decided to kamikazee itself. Got it put back together and called it a day as far as mowing. In the pic, the left is uncut, the right is cut. Between the new blades, and the wider deck VS my brothers (46” vs 42” respectively), I’m diggin this mower. Not bad for free, and I’m still sub $300 into it. I seriously doubt I could have bought a $300 mower that was season ready.

Ok. Back on topic. I unloaded the Troy-bilt and decided to pressure wash it. I NEEDED to find that model number, so I can research and find out how much a transmission is (new or used). That’ll steer me into the direction I need to go (too expensive, find another mower like it needing work and combine the 2?) or just fix it outright. So, I crunched up the garden hose to break the ice inside, and got my pressure washer out. It threw some fits, not wanting to run in this cold weather. It finally stayed running, and I was able to pressure wash both mowers. Found the model tag under layers of crust.

Got everything put away, now it’s shower, dinner and bed time after I order parts.

I degreased and vinegar soaked a batch of motorcycle spokes. They came out almost too nice. I wonder if there is any zinc left on them. They looked so good that I did another batch. My bikes will live indoors anyway. I'll give them a soak with nanowax just to help preserve them.

A little grocery shopping, cleaned about 5 pounds of old pneumatic system parts that I had saved from the scrap bin of a former employer and I now realize that I probably will never have a use for them; based on my previous history I will probably find a use for them in about six months.

Rage fixed something that’s been ******* me off for decades. When I change the oil on the tractor the drain plug just drains all over. Couple of fittings and 2 feet of hose.
Anyone else rage fix stuff?

I worked on the side alcove in my garage. Attached LED lights to the bottom edge of the overhead cabinets. Measured out what in need to fill in the gap between the workbench top and the wall.

The footing juts in about 4” so the bottom cabinets are not flat against the wall, plan to get some 1 x 6 maple and rip it to fill in the void.
I have outlet strips to run along under the red tool boards so I can easily plug things in as needed. 65C858F9-8A76-4387-9D2C-C39CD8B8DB76.jpeg

Pulled the mower in to drop the deck and clean it and switch out the mulching blades for the normal blades. After I dropped it I decided that it would be a good day to aerate so I did that while the deck was off. Just a little more maneuverable and lighter without the deck. Got back to the deck and discovered the bearings were going out on one of the spindles. I just replaced them 4 years/200 hours ago so I ordered a different brand this time. Also ordered a new idler pulley that I knew was getting suspect. Since the parts will be here on Tuesday and I mowed yesterday I left the deck off in the garage and put the mower back in the shed.

Changed the oil, cabin filter and air filter in grandma’s car. Also checked all of the fluids, added washer fluid and checked everything underneath and tread depths and brake measurements. Also aired up the tires. Hasn’t had the oil changed in about 8,000 miles since 2019. She didn’t have the money I told her don’t worry about it your my grandma the $60 of supplies doesn’t matter to me as much as your car does. It’s the only car she has her and my aunt share it as they live together. She called me this morning asking if I could do it today since she got the money now. She gave me $100 to do it I told her don’t worry about it but she said you can’t do it for free. I was happy to see the Mobil1 got rid of her sludge issues it appears so that’s good. It’s a 2015 Kia Soul with 58,000 on the clock. Refilled with another 4.2 quarts of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 Filter this time instead of Purolator.

Went to Tractor Supply and bought two new live animal traps; the '***** and skunks are coming around again. I took them into the shop to wrap the bottoms and 6" up the sides with 1/4" hardware cloth, so they can't reach out and dig up the yard when they're in there. The larger trap (we're getting really big '*****) was made in China, and I'm returning it tomorrow, as it's not reliable. What a piece of ****. The other is a Havahart, made in the USA and is setting outside with bait in it for tonight. My other traps are getting worn out and rusty.

I can imagine initially thinking that trapping a problem skunk would be a good idea until I actually ended up with a skunk in a trap. At that point, I would question my logic and wonder WTH do I do now?
Obviously you've already thought through this (?) so what do you do once you catch one?

A little payoff, since I made the molds in my garage... Got about 60% of my patio planter tiled and capped over the last couple days. Maybe tomorrow when I'm sitting around crippled from my labors I'll finally get around to making a catch-all topic for all the concrete casting work I've been doing the past 12mos. textured pavers, 8"H concrete garden bed partitions, hollow greco-roman columns, and now dyed concrete comfortably-curved capstones and 'pencil liner' pieces from self-made molds.

I'm mold-casting concrete pieces every other day, another 4 cycles to have enough pieces to finish the installations, then I'll grout it all. Trying to finish the backyard projects by Apr19.
Then I need to finish the gabion wall and terracing in the front yard. The 20"H x 16"D x 22'L gabion cages are sitting in the garage, where I pieced them together ;)

I tried giving the ***** a water dunking, doesn't really work out well. The skunk I caught was rather docile and quiet, didn't seem to mind the lead injection. He didn't spray.
