Happy New Year Shorty!

Just catching up on the GJ recently as I have been preoccupied by so many other things lately. It looks like things are moving along nicely over in your shop. (I'm envious of the blast cabinet!)

Not a whole lot going on. I decided to take up boxing, maybe I can become a star.
I believe I mentioned a box to use with a furniture dolly.

I’ve heard about Apple boxes for while and wanted some. (in progress) Seems like it will be useful.

Started with these western stars from Hobby Lobby.
cut the ring off and added a tab for a hanger. Susan has been laying around the shop being lazy so put her to work.
the unfinished booth and the lazy Susan sure makes painting a lot better. While the paint dried, another dump run.

Stars represent our Texaco. NAPA store is what we closed the Texaco for. Came back home after military and took over dad’s pawnshop. Great place to get free tools After 5 years of building up a successful business, I decided I wasn’t the wheeler dealer, anything for a buck type of person.

From the pump I salvaged, I had a strip of aluminum panel. Ummm, this might be perfect for the back of the spray booth. Perfect width and height after bending taps at top and bottom. Still needs some hooks to hang stuff, some lights and an exhaust filter/fan.

Didn’t think I’d be getting any QST especially with global warming hitting Tallahassee hard the next two weeks.
A little more headway on the paint booth. Needed a rod so I can hang things so off to the scrap bin. A piece from the gas pump will work just fine. A couple of cuts and some bends.

It had slots so allows for multiple hang points. Trying it out, I realize I can’t get to the items backside.
I need Tired Ted. A brain fart led to this.

Some strap angle, I have a Tired Ted to go with Lazy Susan.

Works great.

Tired Ted is a bit of a step up from the bailing wire I have hanging off of the overhead shop door track. Nice work Shorty.

Nice set up Shorty, I’ve found hanging stuff for painting the best way.

I used similar set up painting the Lista drawers.

A commercial bakers rack works pretty good too.

Shorty & Craig, I see you take the big bucks approach. I mounted a length of PVC on the garage door tracks and hag the items from it. It's always there but I don't have to find a place to store it. Someday I'm going to invest in a length of conduit! so I can hang heavier stuff.

Thanks for stopping in. I’ve been on mom care the last two months. A broken leg the end January followed by a couple falls. Also depressed because I was talked into buying a Wilton C1 Bullet (circa ‘58) for a ridiculously high price. $150 .

I feel for you Shorty. Nothing worse than the helplessness of watching mental decline.

My wife and I are going to visit my MIL at the National Cemetery this afternoon she died a year ago today after a 9 year battle with Alzheimer’s…

Then a short visit with my best friend from High School who is dying of ALS… he went from flying jets for the Navy to a bedridden version of Stephen Hawking…

Stewart, so sorry to hear she is going through this terrible decline. Never felt more helpless in my life. At least my mom still recognized me at the end.

Been through it with my MiL. Watching it play out with an older gent in my church. The transition is tough to watch, but then they get to a point where they are child like and it becomes tough on us. Prayers sir.

I’ve noticed a slight uptick in injuries on some threads so I best start posting some safety tips.

Went to a nice car show this morning. Surprisingly my top 3 dream cars were present. Along with a 70 Olds Cutlass convertible with a factory 455, there numerous Oldsmobiles.
Here’s a sampling of the variety

Some QST. Doing some office remodeling so I can sell off items I don’t need. Put some shelf stanchions on my workstation so I could store stuff.
Also got all my manuals, books and tool manuals in the new file cabinet. Now if I could get a retired writer to set up the tool manuals like he did his. Also installed a magnifying lamp by drilling a hole in the bench surface.
Created some quick cable management hooks from scrap angle

The hooks just use gravity to stay in the slot.

Using the portable bandsaw reminded me of a project I’ve put off since getting my vertical bandsaw. The little 4x4 table I made for it years ago.

now something more inline with the original.

Build Back Better. Well Looks like I’ll be selling the warehouse. Luckily a friend had a shop (shed) they said I could have. Loaded up.
