Quick coupler of choice

I just finished my rapid air system and I’m putting a Wye (y) fitting at each manifold. I want a 1/2” quick coupler on one side and either 1/4 or 3/8 on the other, I’m running 2 separate size hoses at times. I’m running standard air tools, the big hose is for my 3/4 impact and 1” (if I ever get one) F28E8C63-B5BF-43B7-9E62-F86E9824854B.jpeg

here is my dilemma. I had Milton 1/4” high flow in my old shop and had a lot of issues with them blowing the orings passed and leaking bad and zero assistance from milton. So, I’m curious is it worth the money to just go 3/8” on the opposite side of the 1/2”? Instead of messing with the high flow?

I have Parker and Dixon available locally but I’m not sure if Dixon makes a 3/8, I know Parker does but your paying a huge premium for Parker’s name and honestly the Dixon feels in hand like a better product.

I need 9 for the entire shop. Any input? I hear a lot of the store brands I.e. tractor supply, Home Depot, harbor freight and so on, don’t hold up to well.

@Stedlin is a vendor and member here, I've put a couple of their fittings on in my garage, haven't seen much use yet but they are nicely finished, good packaging and prompt service. Have wanted to try them on the farm shop on the blow pipes and impacts getting heavier use and see what we think but haven't done it yet

If you get Stedlin couplers, you should really get full flow plugs for all your hoses too.

Also, the Stedlin stuff only comes in 1/4" npt so you'll have to get adapter fittings if your half inch hoses have 1/2" threads. As far as flow goes, you will have plenty.

I have looked at their products and I’m sure they’re great, but I’m not interested at all in paying them prices. I’ll have 400 dollars just in couplers and that’s not happening

If you have bad/painful hands, STEDLIN is the answer. Can't hurt to talk with him. Product is high quality and amazing.
Why would he need to talk to stedlin? Pricing is known and there is plenty of info online.

If he was ordering a hundred, then it might be a different story

I am/was a Prevost user. I bought some Stedlin couplers and fittings just to try them out, eventually every air connection in the shop will be Stedlin. Stedlin's prices are right there with the other manufacturers of this style of fitting and actually better when you finally get one in your hand a realize just how nice it is.

The OP's issue was price. I guess I was confused on what a call would address.
Price for stedlin yes, but my original posts never asked of brand as much as I asked of 3/8 instead of 1/4” and stedlin doesn’t offer 3/8 and I’m wanting to get away from the high flows if that’s an option.

Haven't you guys ever heard of Prevost? They're the bomb. Get the Euro style (what we in America call Milton V - which is a joke since they've been using high-flow fittings in Europe forever and Milton finally got around to making them) They have a push button that releases the air after the fitting prior to letting you remove the tool which is a great feature as I've had blow guns fly across the room before.

Milton v style. Brass couplers and steel plugs on anything impact/air hammer, and a 20(I think) pack of aluminum for everything else.

Stedlin blows Prevost away with the ease of install and release. Like I stated in my earlier post, I was a Prevost user until I bought some Stedlin couplers and fittings.

Anybody mention Stedlin yet.....haha.

I bought my father-in-law a set and after a few months I asked if he put them on yet. He said no because he hasn't needed them yet. He usually comes to my shop for most stuff. I finally told him the cost so maybe he would actually use them. I am still amazed how easy they are to use.

Well, update. I ordered all Dixon 3/8 push to connect D style fittings today. I know everyone’s on stedlin, but I didn’t know these were available in smaller until today, but I have these on my truck and trailer and they’ve held up through all the elements for multiple years. And also, I am switching everything from 1/4” high flow to 3/8 standard. These are American made and as I stated before, I’m not paying stedlin prices. Not saying they’re bad, but it’s not for me. Thanks for all the input.

I’m sorry guys, not starting a ******* contest, but my dads 82 years old and still connects and disconnects his old Milton’s with ease. I watched some of the stedlin YouTube videos, and good lord, if you could dramatize it anymore. Are they good connectors? Idk, cause I don’t own any. But based on them videos 😂. I’m happy with my purchases of Dixon.

Little bit. They maybe great couplers idk. I really have no intentions of buying any. I also don’t like one off designs. They **** on a Saturday night and you need one Sunday morning lol.
You've made it clear you won't try them, which is fine, but they are compatible with industrial (M) style 1/4 fittings. What about them is "one off"?

The plug if I’m understanding is not compatible with other brands of plugs. I maybe misunderstanding though. And I May buy a set at some point down the road, but doubtful to be honest.

A plug doesn't have to be compatible with a plug. Just a coupler. I have only Stedlin couplers in my shop but I only have full flow plugs on high consumption tools and quiet plugs on nailers. Most of my other tools have assorted steel and brass plugs and they all work in the coupler.

That’s fine. I can’t get stedlin anywhere but from them. I personally don’t like that also. If he builds a dealer network then that may change my
Mind but honestly I see a dealer network fizzling with them At that price point, my opinion of course. I believe not many will spend that kind of money on couplers when there are many tried and true companies out there at 1/3 of the cost of his. I believe my Dixon were 11.00 plug and coupler. Made in America and a been around for a long time.

And exactly how many people have that particular problem? I'm 70 and I don't. I sent an Email to your company and asked if your couplers would work with European style plugs (which we American's call Milton V) and the answer was no they will not. Well, I've got over 100 air tools (35 paint guns are among this total) and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $11.00 a plug to replace 70 Milton V plugs which I use with my Prevost couplers. I wish you success but I can't see how that's going to work considering your pricing and the limited market you're appealing to.

Pretty happy now!!! Only 8 more to install and we’re up and running!!
Are they V compatible? I have an outdoor reel that I use to blow off the plow truck before parking inside and the Miltons don't last more than one Winter up with the temps and can be a PITA to use at low temps. Looking for something V compatible and easy to use.

Well to be more specific European High Flow fittings which when made by Milton are called Milton V.
Milton is a catalog company. They do not design or manufacture anything and never have.

The so called V style standard was created by CEJN a Swedish company.
