Stopped in the local Restore on the hunt for a new door and windows for my workshop. Struck out on those items but grabbed these 24” clamps for $20 a piece.

When my wife saw me toting them through the store she asked how many clamps do I really need?…..E67D0D0A-DEDA-4988-9500-C8593A938283.jpeg

Here's the part 2 for yesterday.
PXL_20220619_025449674.jpg
Was looking through everything and the guy brought me a bucket and said to fill it up with anything I wanted. So here's what I ended up with for $50 plus $10 for the grinding wheel.
PXL_20220619_191253190.jpg
Manual grinding wheel(or grandkid grinder, kid works the crank while you're using the wheel). I already have one but mines an inline version while this one's a 90°. Needs some work but it's interesting.
PXL_20220619_191227287.jpg
15" Crescent wrench and USA pliers(name covered but there's a diamond around it)
PXL_20220619_191158698.jpg
Estwing rock hammer and unknown prybar
PXL_20220619_191149258.jpg
Irwin vice grips, craftsman robogrip, misc. USA pliers plus one Japan, 3 way air hose adapter, OEM weather head socket, Walden drag link socket, craftsman metric socket lot, Williams Allen and 25/32 sockets
PXL_20220619_191136813.jpg
Snap on sockets, Mac wrenches, and snap on screwdriver (probably painful for some to look at, it's a limited edition Indy 500, but it looks like it may clean up somewhat)

I wanted to check on a tag sale in Vancouver, WA this morning but other things got in the way. The object(s) of my interest were what appeared to be both a Stanley 45 and a 55 plane mixed in with a group of nondescript tools in a picture included in the sale listing. Wondering if anyone in the PNW area caught this sale and either saw or actually bought these planes.

The answer to that question is "At least, ** more than I already have!", where ** is the number of clamps you have in your hand at the moment.

Here's a picture from my garage build to show your wife the next time she asks you that question...

Snerk. And true! Apparently an affliction so popular that it has reached funny mancave sign status. @Smokeshow69 has a good one. (If it wouldn't be taken as making light of a terrible and potentially fatal pregnancy disorder, writing an alternative definition for eclampsia would be fun.)

There are a few great clamp images out there. One is a guy doing a wooden boat clamp up, using hundreds of clamps it seems.

Similar to this, but a more straight on shot, with more clamps.

Another of a luthier glue up, using about 30 on a small body glue up. About this density, but using regular clamps the form the body, not glue down the soundboard.

I stopped at a few thrift stores today and for $11 I got some Penncraft crimpers, a Plomb phillips screwdriver, four Matco oil filter sockets, a Craftsman distributor wrench, a super cool copper plated framing square, and a ‘55 Olds shop manual. The logo on the square is kind of hard to read. Anyone recognize it? It looks like it says “Gardner something rafter-framing.”

No, he’s right: “RAFTER-FRAMING”
There was a Gardner Rafter-Framing square listed on eBay a while back, I’m thinking “& Sons” may indicate an earlier/later company name, but the inferred ampersand would be too far to the right.

Thanks guys! All I could find was a picture from an ebay listing too old to view any more and I couldn’t zoom in enough to read it

Introduded MrsLS to the Leesport Farmers Market, which boasts a regular Wednesday flea market. It seemed about 2/3 capacity to my eyes today. A few bucks bought an assortment of small prizes. A3B5F865-7189-4F3F-B2A9-A727A72B7735.jpeg
An ornamental hammer head that may have a maker stamped into the side, round tape rule in box, Underline C’man 3/8dr socket, caulking iron (at least I think so; my bro-in-law & I have an iron waste line project we want to attempt), 2 Disston Electric beehives, Herbrand stubby Phillips, matching Taiwan stubbies, Bonney soe, 8” adj, 3 does, “Driver” doe, Bernard Schollhorn, Smith & Hemmenway Anchor linesmans.

TechnologyTeacher just became the undisputed USUCK champion.

Not so fast, Moosebreath.

While I can appreciate the enthusiasm for TT's find viewed as an impressive value/dollar spent ratio, that's not the way we do it here on the garage sale thread.

As stated in the first post, I've been keeping very close tabs on the number of "You *****" received by our illustrious Garage Salers and obviously I need to report the (close enough to) half-year standings.
For brevity's sake, I will report only those who are sucking it in double digits.

With 10 You *****, we have: firstyearchevelle, NYBODYMAN, Provincial & seber
At 12: freudianfloyd
At 13: Old Radar
And way out in front there's a tie at 17 between bmwrd0 & saukit

There have been a total of 237 You ***** awarded so far, and with the double-digit suckers pulling in only 99, there are plenty of contenders drafting closely in the second rank looking to make a break for the lead--and the summer GS season just started yesterday!

Keep up the good work, everyone!!

Does it have to say "You ****" to count? Lots of us are guilty of getting creative. I try to at least include "****" in my accolades. I've seen references to low pressure that don't include "you" or "****."

So Mrs No_Garage and I were on "the best kept secrets tour of Berks County PA" since Saturday AM. We worked in some Flea Markets while we were in the area.

On Saturday AM we stopped at Jake's Flea Market and the Mrs picked up a hanging yard spinner thingie. I didn't see anything that needed to come home with me.

On Sunday we went to the Willow Springs Flea Market in Sinking Springs PA. I picked up a pair of #7 BMC pliers. This adds will make my #9 less lonely in the Vise Grip drawer. I did see some stuff that tempted me but we were in the Ford Focus not the Dodge Grand Caravan so space was tights. The Mrs picked up some crafty stuff.

IMG_2819.jpeg

Today (Wednesday) we stopped at the Leesport Farmers Market and I found a small 2 speed Vornado fan and the Mrs got a bag full of fruits and veggies. It's a Model A20C1-1 from 1952. It works but needs replacement "bushings" for the fan motor mounts and the rear "intake" which are available on the internet from "the Vornado Guy".

I checked in with my son as he has a little more knowledge on Vornado's and he was more interested in the picture below the fan.

Unfortunately I didn't "hold" the picture and it was gone when I came back with my money - I had left my wallet in the car by mistake.

Cheers

Jim

Rare mid week yard sale around here today had some tools advertised. I picked up this stuff. Craftsman includes calipers with case, 1/2” drive torque wrench, punches (big one is Powekraft), thread pitch gauge, number stamp set, electric die grinder in box, and Millers Falls micrometer in box with paperwork. $12 for all of it. 7BD51697-4F64-4812-95C6-B1851B9CDC38.jpegD43FB145-A6BE-45AF-B265-164935B7A882.jpegF0D8BA93-363C-4682-9E4F-8E8237803E52.jpegD948D42D-14EF-498D-86F7-06DD7BDADD05.jpeg

I simply told her I didn't have this style clamp yet and wanted to try them out but, I will be sure to keep all of the other responses in mind for future clamp purchases.

For Everyone:
No, you don't have to explicitly say "You ****." Any discernibly cute variation or allusion is acceptable--that is to say, any that I can reasonably construe your intent is to award a **** to specific individual will count. Nebulous shotgun sucking will not count--"All you guys are sucking it"--doesn't leave me enough to go on. Don't expect me to search three pages back looking for who was meant by "Oh, yeah, he *****." Quote it or at least name names.
