Capri 6pc Extra Long Double Box End Wrench set. Chrome looks really nice on these and the ends are cleanly broached.

I don't have the Capri wrenches but have the Genius ones. They probably come out of the same plant as there are a bunch of different names on what looks the same product. They are very good- I've had mine for several years. I don't like the sharp edges on the beams, but otherwise they're awesome.

Nice looking set. I do have a gripe about the sizes, though, for this and most other sets. I wish they would split off some more sizes like they do the 17/19, both commonly found, so it is useful to have them both on one wrench. The same would also be true if they made an 8/10 and a 12/14. I rarely need 9, 11 and 15, and 13 only if it is a non-Japanese M8 fastener.

Actually. Capri does offer the Extra Long, zero offset wrenches in those sizes.

When Capri first came out with these wrenches, people complained about the wrench sizing so, they released a second version with more traditional sizing. However, I can't find that set on their web site right now.

Ah I forgot about that set - I might write Capri to inquire as I’d prefer that one. Their site is a little strange… if a product is out of stock then often it just won’t show up at all, but you can still get to the product page thru Google or a saved direct link.

Where did you find those craftsman ratchets?😳 … was it an online retailer or a garage sale?

KTC, Nepros, Tone, etc. make similar wrenches in JIS sizes.

Just picked up some mortising chisels in 1/4" and 1/2" and an interchangeable handle. I'm going to try to make a tray with square dowels to organize some of my sockets in a new box.

Also grabbed this light because it was only 6.50 usd. It has a few different modes, a magnet, a hook, and a stand; should be useful under the car.

Snap-on guy is retiring and I finally got a set of FD+ wrenches for a price I can justify. 4499528E-56B2-4785-84A9-9293CE7A9F9F.jpeg

What do you plan on making there Monte? I have a little singer sewing machine like that out in the garage I think it's a HD110 model. Probably bought it 10 years ago when I wanted to practice with a cheap machine first, back when I wanted to try my hand at upholstery work.

Just a guy on Craigslist. He is a retired guy who was into bicycles. He has the Facom stuff which I like and he told me had a bunch of other stuff so I said send me a list. He did and I made an offer on the whole lot.

There was a lot more stuff I didn't post. Toolboxes, wrenches, sockets and other misc tools. I haven't had the chance to sort them yet, but those were the first ones I figured I would post.

My stubby metric wrench set turned up while I was away, been after them for a while (ever since I needed a stubby 17 for a turbo down pipe a few months back) but was struggling to pick the set. I couldn't bring myself to spend the $290 for a snap on set, given how little use they'll get, so spent $27 on a sealey premier set. Casting quality isn't as Sharp as usual for Premier, but they still have lifetime warranty and will definitely do the job.

Picked up some more PB Swiss from DRPD - who, by the way, I really like. They're less expensive than Toollady and Count On Tools and nearly less than Werk10, but only 500 miles away from me instead of 5000.

20220702_155553.jpg

I picked up the T Handle bit holder and I really like it so far. Comfortable and useful. I also got a 215 series 1/4" square drive blade with the 8215 handle and I'm not sure I like it so far. The blade is looser in the handle than I had hoped it would be and sockets (mostly Snap-on) seem to be looser on the square drive than I like. It's possible this blade will be the only one ever on the handle, so I'm pondering putting something down in the handle to take up the slack of the blade.

A few misc bits I didn't have.

Got this cool PB Swiss mug also.

Klein wire stripper, Knipex Cobra's 180 and 250mm and cheap ($8) amazon set of scrapers.

image3.jpegimage2.jpeg

I have those Klein wire strippers and used them extensively when I first got them. Installed an auxiliary fuse box in the truck and ran multiple accessories to it including a switch back harness to switches in the cab of the truck.

They work amazingly. Love them.

Copied/pasted from another thread:
So I've been involved with a construction project from hell (currently in arbitration if that helps explain things). And I've been without my garage for nearly two years.

All my tools are in a storage unit two miles away. Inconvenient. So a lot of my tools are sitting in the corner of my bedroom and for the past two years I've been buying new tools or upgrades to the tool set I have. In the late 80s I bought the classic Craftsman (USA) mechanic set. I've added to it here and there but for the most part it has served me, and my moderate DIYing, very well.

These are my new to me tools over the course of the past year or so. Most of them are being used, out of my bedroom and on the street, but a couple of them haven't been put to use yet.

I'd love to buy the best stuff out there but there is literally no justification. I'll spoil myself here and there but for the most part I know my lane: "good enough" is fine by me. I try to find that line between good quality and affordability.

I, like many, have landed on Tekton. Their customer service and no questions asked warranty is a huge bonus for me.

Like I said, the Craftsman (USA) have served me well and probably can for another three decades but I want to get new sockets. So I bought the 3/8 socket set. There was a promotion when they first came out and I got them for $145.

I also bought a variety of extensions (fixed) that supplement the extensions that came in the 3/8 set and to eventually supplement the 1/2 and 1/4 sets I'll pick up. Pretty nice knurling I must say.

Also bought the USA pry bar set and starting my mini pliers build out.

And a few mini pliers to start that build out.

Also bought their 16 pc hard handle screw driver set. Originally I bought their sampler pack of high torque and hard handle P2 screwdrivers so I can get a feel for them, test them out/use them, etc before making a decision on which set to buy. I really want to like the high torque handle but it feels so unnatural in my hand. I love the feel of the hard handle, very comfortable. And for as much as my Craftsman has treated me well I've always despised the feel of the handles of the screwdrivers and nut drivers. Brutal on my hand.

I can explain why I have four P2s... the high torque handle was part of the sampler set... which also came with one hard handle. The tip of that hard handle was rusty so they sent me another. Plus the one that came with the 16 pc set. It's ridiculous, I know.

Lastly I impulsed bought their new 3/8 comfort grip 11" flex head. I'm still getting a feel for flex head anything, especially ratchets. But the 90 tooth head/pawl feels really nice in the 3/8 set (which comes with a polished handle, very comfortable). But I have to say. I love the comfort grip Tekton designed. Not really oval, a little more squareness to it, and it feels amazing in my hand. So much so I just bought their 8" non-flex head.

I was eyeing up the Koken wobble-fix extensions but came to two realizations:

1. The set is very expensive.

2. I don't think I'd like the wobble-fix feature. I know it's less convenient to have both fixed extensions and wobble extensions but I can just imagine the first time the wobble-fix would lock into a the fixed position when I was putting pressure on the ratchet... that would make me frustrated.

So I bought some wobble extensions. Yes the mismatch will trigger my OCD every. single. time. I open the drawer but this was the best I came up with.

Heyco and Stahwille wobble extensions (3/8). Love the finish on the Stahwille. Wish the Heyco had some knurling or texture.
