First tool truck buy--FAIL

Ok, I was doing an unpaid intership at the local Ford dealership working on the Powerstrokes and the dude I was working with asked if ive ever been on a tool truck. I never have so I went along and saw the new Matco tork 2 screwdrivers (something like that), I fell in love with those things so I decided I would buy em. I told him I would pay him when they got in and he said they would be in next week. The next week comes and I was all excited and guess what? Yup, no screwdrivers, on back order. Then he said they would be in the next week. Yup, you guessed it, no screwdrivers the next week either!!! I was only on the internship for 4 weeks and the last week only for mon, teus, and wednesday. He came on Thursdays. So after all I ended up with nothin!!! The dealership is about a 30 mile drive one way so I wasnt about to drive out there to see if they might be in.

How is it working on those Powerstrokes anyway? We have a few of the newer ones at work and I'm dreading the day I have to do anything but change the oil in them beacause those engines are so crammed in there. Seems like you would have to pull the cab of to do anything major to the engine.

There not that bad with a lift. The only reason I can think of when you have to take the cabs off is to change the head gaskets, and thats mainly the 6.0's.

I think the witte drivers are better than those that SO offers but yeah they are a lot cheaper with out the Matco name.

They had to pull the cab to replace the fuel pump on my 6.4. It's in an '08 F450.

Like the other guys have mentioned, Matco screwdrivers are Witte screwdrivers from Germany.

Sounds to me like you experienced a true tool truck experience. Order, wait, wait, wait, give up, find original maker online and order, receive in two days. You sure that truck didn't say MAC?

Everything on tool trucks is overpriced. Plus they deal like loan sharks - with all their "pay me when you can/next payday" terms.... Almost as bad as the damn chuck-wagon!!

Next time you get on a Matco truck, ask them to do the oil/screwdriver/torque test and see how good the flocking works when you have oily/greasy hands.

Sorry the truck didn't have them in stock. I've never know them to be on back order. Odd.

Not trying to be a **** but there are a ton more reasons then that. It's not that odd to have to pull the cab. Although the 6.7's are "supposed" to be designed so you don't have to as often.

Pretty much any topend work on a 6.0 is faster to pull the cab. 6.4 almost all motor work is faster to pull the cab as bad as it sounds.

3 hours to pull a cab. 8 hours to pull a motor, it's a no brainer on which one to pick.

but sadly enough they sort of "designed" the cab to be easy to yank off lol
