Couple sheets of 3/4in in the stack. Looks like I'm gonna be building a miter saw bench for the Dewalt 12in. Finally.

In the attic above the garage...

Fixed (?) the AC on the house. Was trying to figure out why the AC couldn't keep the house cool. The filter on the AC is a reusable one and I figured it needed to be cleaned (the system said it was fine, but I cleaned it anyways).

Went to climb up into the attic and started scratching my head as to why the attic was cooler than the garage down below it.

I discovered that the big plastic panel that covers the coils had a big crack along the bottom of it and it was spewing cold air into the attic. I didn't have any aluminum tape and couldn't find the silver duct tape, so I used what I could easily find.

This will have to do for now. There's some plastic missing around the PVC pipes for the drain and it seems as though water is leaking out the bottom of the handler instead of going through the PVC pipe. I'm assuming there's something wrong internally.

I'll call an AC guy to come out and look at it, but this at least is keeping the cold air going back into the house instead of cooling the attic.

Not exactly in my garage, it was in a neighbors shop, but we installed a 3.5" lift kit and mounted up bead lock wheels and 37" tires. Before and after pics, exactly 7 days between vehicle purchase and mods installation:
I was very disappointed to find out that the paint I bought for the lock rings that was supposed to match the body color was not even close. I think they sent me Hydro Blue, not Ocean Blue. Oh well, that's a problem that will get solved later.

Checked my steel stock and found I have enough old bed frame material to build a cart for my 12 Volt generator project. Cut the remaining two wheels from an invalid transfer chair to repurpose for the generator cart and reconnected the battery maintainer to my wheeled generator. The generator was last used a couple of weeks ago for a mobile welding job.

I get tired too quickly and conserve my energy so that I don’t need a day off to recover. My new normal is a lot less than it was when I was still in my Seventy’s.

So I bought a Honda lawn tractor because... well I'm an idiot. I have no use for this thing but I liked it and I have a thing for Hondas. Got it 'cheap' because it didn't start. "The key got stuck so we replaced it but it still won't start".
286139084-8070540206296986-881727214507436023-n.jpg

Heh. Put it up just to look. Very sketchy - do not do this.
20220630-122024.jpg

Realize the starter itself is nuked. Know how you get the starter out of a Honda tractor? Pull the motor and flywheel; The starter bolts in from behind the flywheel. Yo, really Honda? Really??
20220702-172203.jpg

20220705-163302.jpg

20220703-112520.jpg

Finally get the new starter from Amazon. I had to go aftermarket because Honda wants twice what I paid for the tractor for a new one. I had to reposition the solenoid, clock the motor body 180°, and swap out their 14ga starter wire for the OEM 8 gauge one.
20220708-224630.jpg

And now it runs again. During the repair I found a guy selling spare parts about an hour away. From the spares I changed the rubber driveshaft coupler out (mine was worn), replaced the failed brake pads, and found... a spare starter.

May you enjoy your Honda Tractor and good health for many years.

Almost finished the Bimmer yesterday. Didn't have quite enough coolant so I made a run into town to pick up 3 gallons, by the time I got back I didn't feel like dealing with it any longer.

Today I go out at 8am to dump the recycled coolant, refill with fresh and light it off. When I raised it to dump the coolant I see a puddle on the ground. Dang it. Turns out the valley pan is still leaking. I tried cleaning it and sealing it with RTV instead of purchasing a replacement pan for $100 with a pre-applied sealing agent.

Since I just had the intake off it wasn't too bad, took about an hour and a half to get it all back apart. Seems like the rtv didn't stick to the Aluminum too well. I will try cleaning it better and reapplying.

It's 'Right Stuff' grey, I wonder if I should be using something else... tomorrow will tell.

Sold a vehicle. I decided I’d sell the 1990 Mazda B2200. Keeping my 1989 which is the running one and the one in my avatar. The money from the 1990 ($500) will go towards a 2002 Chevy Blazer. Sold to a friend of a friend who restores and rebuilds Mazda trucks. He wanted it and I talked it over with my dad and decided I’d sell it and take a loss of $100 if he picked it up today. I was asking $800 but you know negotiations happen. He got the number from my friend and said hey I’ll come pick that truck up today as is for $500 so I had to talk it over again with my dad and was like sold. I was wanting $800 though lol I only paid $600 but the vehicle market is crazy lol. That’s ok I’d rather have a nice pristine condition Blazer than a non running rusty Mazda. I’ve been looking for a Blazer for awhile and probably give my dad the Escape since he needs another car I mean it’s up there in miles but has done me well. The Blazer is the same year I am and only 117k miles with one owner and every single service receipt and parts and gas receipt since bought new. As long as my no credit loan gets approved I’ll get it. It just so happens the guy at the car lot and my dad are old friends and used to watch The Sopranos in his dealership all the time so he said if something happens I don’t get the loan he would work with me on it or hold it till I get all the funds to buy it straight out. 2E04DF84-7958-45E1-AE44-89989DAC395B.jpeg

Did a Late night stretch cause it is too damn hot up there in the daytime.
But the organization project proceeds...

That's nice work. You took the time to cut dadoes for better support instead of just screwing your 2x4s together face-to-face and leaving all the load weight on the fasteners. Everything's nice and flush and square; you must have spent an hour in the lumber aisle finding the straightest pieces. Not everyone would pay that much attention to detail on utility shelves. Thumbs way up.

The A-30 belt for my generator project arrived yesterday afternoon. I have put it on the machine and adjusted the tension. I will probably wait until get some help before I pick up the project and turn it around before connecting the electrical.

But I might just get frustrated, grit my teeth and do it without help. I am very close to connecting the electricals and adding fuel and oil to the Honda engine.

This afternoon I will make some progress on a cart that will contain the Honda engine, the Alternator and the battery. Moving the steel and cutoff saw is somewhat difficult as I walk with my cane. My helper and muscle should be available Saturday, but higher priority commitments may use all his available time.

Sometimes something needs repair & you let it go too long......don't even think about it anymore? I fixed one of those today.

Over a year ago the garage door sensors stopped door from closing right. Had to push button/blink a few times/hold it down til fully closed. Annoying.

Sensors were misaligned an inch but I still couldn't get it working(???). I was laying on the floor face-to-face measuring then it occurred to me my garage queen '55 Chevy pickup was blocking them! DUH!!! I even have a ball hanging from ceiling to make sure it's in the right spot - it was making sure it was in the WRONG spot, ha ha. Fixed.

Next Issue: Exterior keypad "Clicker" needs re-programming. Followed Youtube video religiously but don't know my opener "type" code. Tried possible #1-#9 codes but couldn't get it to work. The unit in video is older than mine and I haven't found my owner's manual. I'll find it online I hope.

Also, I re-arranged my yard tools on metal pegboard. It's better than it was but I'm pretty sure I'm not done changing things around yet.

A couple brooms, Milwaukee hedge trimmer & extension, a very long auger bit are hanging on the inside of the garage door on those special made mounts. Seems to work well, nothing ever falls off, doesn't interfere with the door opener.tempImagesFk4bM.png

Parts stoppage on the BMW, so I pulled the F250 in to replace the smashed bumper.
I bought this at a salvage auction, it's been an ongoing project to fill dead time.

Before....

0228221650_HDR.jpg

Little more progress on the F250.

Put some headlight assemblies in, still need pigtails so I wasn't to picky about fitting them properly.
Mounted and balanced the front replacement tires, still need to do the rears and finish the RF fender.

Kept trying to get this valley pan to seal. After 3 (failed) attempts I decided to buy a new one.

0712221134.jpg0712221134a.jpg0712221139.jpg

After admiting defeat and shopping for a replacement pan, I discovered that you can only succesfully reseal the original design, the updated part has raised 'bosses' and rtv will not seal it. I have the updated design. At least it was only my time and not shop time!

Also mounted 2 275/35r18 replacement rear tires. Wow. Glad I have the fancy tire machine with the extra hands. I probably would have messed something up otherwise.

In my quest to replace as many screws as possible with the spiffy new satin black Allens I managed to get two more installed today. Had to cut a slot in one of the old screws with a die grinder to get the ****** out.... & of course it was the most inaccessible of the lot.
That ******* right between the brake lines...

IMG_20220712_181330893.jpg

Changed 4 10mm nuts on the brake & clutch levers for stainless nylocs.

Brake side:

IMG_20220712_181312537.jpg

Still need to source some M5 stainless nylocs so I don't have to look at that damn acorn nut on the screen. The other side doesn't match it either.

Well at this point it was last week but I finally got around to hauling the workbench I made out to the barn and got it secured to the base. I'd attach a picture but apparently it's too big. And hey I tried adding it again and it's not too big anymore. :dunno: Whatever, I also filled up the barn shopvac twice cleaning up the winter squirrel detritus. Maybe later I'll start on the upstairs, I also need to rewire the power up there while I'm at it.

I went up to the attic in the garage and spent most of the time reorganizing the mess my brother made while he was up there and found my dad's old dopp bag. I'd given my brother his dopp bag from his bathroom which was a stiff pleather one but I'd always remembered him having a nicer leather one, well that's the one I found. Even nicer was the Razor I found. I got one Rolls razor case years ago but it had a broken hone and the strop was all chewed up and no blade or handle. Then my dad gave me another one, the blade says it's from 1947 so I don't know if it was HIS dads or what but it didn't have a handle. However there was yet another one in the bag and it's got a good hone and strop and a blade AND a handle, so now I may finally be able to try shaving with a Rolls. LOL

Plus I found my grandmother's old Zenith transistor radio. The ONLY thing missing is the dial insert for the tone wheel. I'm looking for a 12v power supply to wire in to try it but I may eventually break down and buy EIGHT D cell batteries to give it a try and see if it still works. Just now typing I had an idea, maybe I'll try clipping in a pair of jumpers and hooking it up to my trucks battery, that's 12v and all the amperage it could possibly need. I'll have to give that a try tomorrow!

I have both sizes of those. There are some things where those are the *perfect* cutting tool for me.
Have a plastic tube of spare blades for both too.

Fixed the tailgate latch on the Ridgeline. The door opening function would not unlatch properly every time. Searched the interwebs, video found, disassembly, oil jiggling, extra bolt and presto. Done works like it should!! Won one today! Then sketchup and started printing a new box on the prusa!

You reminded me that I have that very same radio. I need to get it down off the garage shelf:

...clean it up, and add it to the display collection:

Fired up & idled the ZX11 & ZRX11 for a while. The ZRX to get some fresh fuel in the carbs so they don't gum up from lack of riding & the ZX to check progress. Two weeks ago it would fire up & race to 3500rpm on the choke. Wouldn't catch without the choke at all. Now it fires up & will idle at 1500rpm with just a whiff of choke. Then it drops back to 1100rpm without the choke. I guess the carbs are a bit happier with fresh fuel & the pilot circuits must be a bit cleaner.
Put some tools away.
