Tried two tractor supply stores for this:

Crown PSC 1000 Parts Cleaner, 5 Gal., PSC1000MOS​

Both were out. Just did an internet search for every store in this area. Not available, even by special order.

I really like this stuff. Low odor, cleaned well, and reasonably priced.

What are you guys doing for solvent besides Kerosene?

I've been using water-based Grez-Off for a number of years now. It's been working pretty well for me. I buy five gallon pails at NAPA.

Ugh. Hopefully it's a temporary supply chain problem and not a discontinuation. PSC 1000 is the best parts washer solvent around.

Don't use crappy water based junk it does not work anywhere close to PCS-1000. Plus it will turn rancid and rot then start to smell plus it will rust any metal it comes into contact with. The longer you leave it sit exposed the worse it gets.
As posted above this stuff just plain works. I have had my cheap Harbor Freight parts washer filled with 10 gallons of this for about 8 years. Still no evaporation and it's very gentle to use and I can't even smell it.

It's amazing how well something works when we actually concentrate on what the intended use is!!
Plus another vote for the cheap Harbor Freight parts washer. Still a good deal even though the price has gone up like everything else! The surprising part is it has a crappy water pond pump but the PCS-1000 is so mild my cheap water pump is still working fine after sitting in PCS-1000 for 8 years!

After reading the long and wonderful thread on the modifications people have done to these parts washers. I stole several of the idea's to improve my parts washer. The large Harbor Freight moving dolly is a perfect fit for the washer and casters make it a bunch easier to move around. I had planned to upgrade to the "Little Giant" solvent rated pump but still am waiting for my old pump to die!

One tip I just found out is if you want to filter the solvent. DE sown into a fabric bag is what the commercial ones are made of. I find that just letting gravity work the sludge falls to the bottom of the tank. When I had to move I drained the washer solvent into the original 5 gallon cans the solvent came in. So save those for future use.

Another mod I got from from GJ was I added a ball valve on the drain of the washer. After draining the solvent into the 5 gallon cans what was left I mopped up and threw away. Surprising how well the gravity method works because again from GJ I had planned to add a filter cartridge setup. But found it just was not needed.

I've been buying PSC1000 at a local farm store. Check farm stores if you have any others in your area. Looks like the nearest Tractor Supply to me has it in stock so maybe it's a local shortage.

I think its the ingredients have been banned in some states like illinois and california due to it "might" cause cancer. We had a big switch of contact cleaners and parts cleaner solvents at work because of this 2 months ago.

Box stores like TSC are only going to carry a product that they can sell at ALL of their stores so they can reduce item counts in thier supply chain.

I buy my weed killer (glyphosate) there in bulk.. I haven't been there in a while, hopefully they still carry it.

It is available around me in SC. Varsol or stoddard solvent is the bomb if you can find it.

Bayer makes Roundup. Don't know how this will affect the generics.

Last time I got weed killer was 2019, Tractor Supply, Farmworks brand, 41%, it was $50 for 2-1/2 gallons. Think it was on sale.

Now its $120 for 2-1/2 gallons.

FYI, according to the Internet
"Concentrated Roundup loses its effectiveness in 7-8 years as long as it is stored in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Pre-mixed or factory diluted versions last anywhere from 3 to 5 years with adequate storage. Roundup that is diluted with water lasts a mere 4-5 hours."

I had a 2 gal 100-1 jug of roundup that was in storage for almost 20 years ( not climate controlled) and it works fine mixed 100-1

day and ineffective the next; the product will gradually lose its effectiveness over time. Store both
unopened and opened product containers in a cool, dry place and protect them from extremes in

breakdown in the surfactant. If you store diluted product after use, be sure to mark the storage container
to note both the contents and the date the product was mixed.

What really alarmed me was the statement about the 4-5 hour usable life of diluted glyphosate. I dilute glyphosate to a 20% solution (50/50 mix of water and 41% glyphosate from the store) for stump treatment. I'll mix ~16 oz at a time, but that may last me a month or more depending on how often I get out in the woods to fight invasive burning bush and bush honeysuckle. Glad to know that it's actually good for up to 6 months instead of just 4-5 hours. Actually, it's likely longer than that, as I expect the surfactants aren't particularly important when we're talking about stump treatment.

Local store & Red Bluff, CA have it, but the stores in Paradise, Oroville, Yuba City, Redding,CA, & a few others do not stock it. Can't speak about Hellinois, but sometimes surprised CA allows any chemicals.

Just tried the Atwoods in Chandler, OK (drive through there when we pick up the grandsons). They don't have it either.
Cox Hardware does, but they are in TX.

As of today, I can't find the Crown PSC 1000 anywhere in the US.
I emailed both Tractor Supply and SolvChem regarding the solvent status.
It's too early for any replies yet.
I'm new to this with a yet-to-build parts washer. Just gathering the mod parts now.
I'm just hoping that I'll be able to choose the correct (non-water based) solvent the first time.

Biggest worry is incompatibility with certain media filters (oil, etc...).
Even DE still sounds challenging to implement.

I bought 5 gallons on 10-1-2022 at the only store with inventory in Oregon. I just checked they still show inventory as well as a northern California store. I found and purchased online for pickup so I assume the available status is valid. Good luck.

Soltrol 170. Very similar to the hydrocarbons in the TSC product. But so is Stoddard.
