Any Stahlwille or Belzer Germany Fans ?

I'm happy to include VBW, whom Stahlwille bought out and closed the brand. I believe Stahlwille pliers are still made in the old VBW factory.

Stahlwille did indeed buy VBW, VBW had been manufacturing pliers for Stahlwille for some time, but they didn’t “close” the brand, VBW pliers are very much alive and well. You can choose if you want VBW pliers with red grips, or Stahlwille with green…!

Hi, this is my first post. Registered a few minutes ago.

I came stumbled across this thread earlier, which resulted me registering to joing the chat.

Im quite curious to get inputs on the possible costs of this Stahlwille Socket set. Its has a patinaed resume and good provenance. It is 1/2" drive and contains both metric and imperial sockets. The bummer is that size 15 is missing and the size 13 and ratchet is gedore.

Your inputs would be appreciated please.

The set you show has heavily used sockets in the bottom row but they do remain quite serviceable for non critical environments.

It is easy to rush in getting over excited and paying too much for something like this.

The missing items are readily purchasable and are compatable as Stahlwille keep to a style forever it seems.

Google Samstag for a US supplier to see replacement prices.

Agreed about Samstag. Shipping can be high so I would suggest you not piecemeal your parts if at all possible but they are top notch people.

I’ve just bought Stahlwille steel and wire brushes along with a few other things from Chadstoolbox and have been pleased with them as well. Word of warning, this COVID B.S. has really screwed up things from Germany.

One other place is Jens Putzier (Google it) out of Germany. Very good person to deal with and pretty “decent” prices (shipping $ is an issue) but top notch place.

Matter if fact shipping is really getting out of hand both domestic and internationally. Another thread for that…SMH

Your set comprises imperial SAE A/F sizes and Whitworth or BSW sizes

The largest socket is dual marked 3/4W and happens to be 33mm, it is also 1-5/16

BSW sizes run up from 3/16 to 3/4 in 1/2” drive sets.

Hello guys, I am looking at to get my first set of German made combination wrenches and I found this set available from Japan, the Stahlwille 13/8K which comes with metal case that I really like. I found some pictures on another auction page which it's written W.Germany on the case. I wonder if this is an vintage item? It seems to be available to order new from Japanese stores only. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Have you seen the gedore Indian spanners made in the late 70s ? They were not that bad in terms of quality, cheap and cheerful and apprentice affordable.

Most Stahlwille tool styles have a number and a name. E.G. their double open end wrenches are No. 10 or “Motor”. Screwdrivers are “Drall”!

My dad has a comprehensive Stahlwille / Hazet set which is used extensively for the last 30 years but still going strong. Unfortunately they are very expensive for hobby use so I choose Beta but I must admit that the quality and feeling is very good. Only recently Gedore offers a RED series tools which is more affordable but with the same look and feel as their professional series. If I had to start now with buying tools I would consider this.

Welcome to GJ and condolences to your late Father.
I thumbed through my oldest Stahlwille catalog, 1999, and didn't turn up anything on that chain wrench. Only thing close was the exhaust tubing cutter that has the rollers in the chain to cut the tubing.

^ those look like they very well could have been made by Schollhorn, or perhaps made by Belzer under license from Schollhorn.
