I finally bought a wrench set in between my Matco shorts and my SnapOn wrenches. Like my snap on thread I couldn't bring myself to buy the Mac wrench set even tho size-wise it was perfect. So I figured since it's not my main wrench set I would get it from Amazon UK. $98 free shipping.

Got a link? I had the MAC set for about 1 day. I've wanted to buy them again ever since.

I bought the tool from Honda to drive in rear main seal on their D, B, F and H series engines. It took almost a month to arrive.

I hope you do a lot of those. They're awfully proud of that tool. I've only ever done one of these on a D series and as I recall I just used a punch and it went in without too much trouble. Getting it out was another story.

They are super nice. Been using them today. Very comfortable in the hand. Like I really wanna give my driver business but... I also like to have money for taking my wife out to dinner lol.

Well I'm divorced, so I don't have that problem. But I don't have a MAC dealer and I couldn't stomach paying somewhere around $300 for the set I had at one time (and immediately sold). Paying a premium for offshore Taiwan tools hurts.

When I can spare $100, I may have to buy these again, but from Amazon this time.

How come you sold them off so quick?

I bought them used for $300. But I had the full set that went up to 32mm.

As I said, I couldn't justify paying that price for Taiwan tools. Regret got the best of me and I sold them a few days later. The guy I bought them from actually had a similar experience if I remember correctly. I ended up getting $300 for them, so I broke even.

I like the way they look. They feel good in the hand. I like their design overall. I also like the holders they came with. I don't need them, but I'd like to buy them again.

Recent purchases influenced by this thread. So basically a rehash.

VIM 3pc 1/4" hex bit ratchet set. This thing is awesome. Really well built, very versatile/ingenious design. I tested it out by tightening the set screws on my freezer handle. Smooth ratcheting mechanism, love the locking flex head, the bits hold very tight but are easy enough to remove and although I didn't use it, the conversion to the t-handle is sweet. This might be my new favorite tool.

It's not that my Husky mini hacksaw hasn't served me well enough for a decade or so (mostly just irrigation work), it's just that it's always felt cheap and is sometimes too big to get into spots. This Lennox 6" saw is great. Haven't used it yet but messed around with it and held it in my hand, etc. The all metal design feels solid. The handle is great and the loosening/tightening to switch out blades is butter. The only issue I can foresee is having less space between the blade and the frame(?) which could get in the way of cutting bigger things. I'll keep the Husky for this purpose.

I've had the Tekton hex socket set(s) bookmarked for awhile. Then saw the Capris pop up in this thread. I like the price point and the smaller sets I can buy over time. These feel really well built. For my purposes they will be amazing.

Mueller Kueps clip lifter. Haven't used it but will be soon to "de-bro" the ridiculous electronics the previous owner of my truck put in it. On the way is also the Lisle double ended panel/clip tool and the BOJO grommet and pry tool kit.

Edit, after trying 10 times to upload the image of the VIM 1/4" bit set I give up... you get the point.

SAE and Metric, shallow and deep, all in the same box, is a very useful thing to have / carry in my opinion.

Sadly, it’s something that few makers seem to offer.

I’d have grabbed that SK set if I’d seen it.

I ordered both of those. And while I don't use the blow molded cases (I put the sockets in my tool box on rails) I do keep the cases just in case there's ever a time I need to travel with the set.

As I was writing that, Tekton came to mind. Snap On and Milwaukee also offer them, but I think SK are / were the only U.S. manufacturer to offer such a set at reasonable price.

It’s hard to better the value for money that the Tekton sets offer.

I don’t think any of the European makers offer anything so comprehensive. Neither do the Japanese.

@Dave455 and @Madjik Man -

FWIW:

I ordered that full-blown "Tekton" set a while back. Never have used it. Very nice set.
Ordered another one about two months ago for a buddy of mine who does all the work on my vehicles. He loves it.
I tossed in one of their "shorty" ratchets (the tiny one with the "ergonomic" handle), and both of the "Titan" mini ratchets.
It's his "go to" now.
(And he already owned a mess of Snap-on and other stuff. He works out of his vehicle, so the blow-mold box with every size right there is a big time-saver for him.)

Well, I wasn’t particularly thinking of only U.S. made, though it’s appealing with regard to the S.K.

I was just thinking that, when you consider how many tool manufacturers there are, it’s slightly surprising that only four make these really useful sets. And you’d be lucky to find the S.K. now.

I have a horticulturist friend who owns the Milwaukee set. He’s not particularly into Milwaukee, but loves the utility of having everything in one set.

I think this is the factor that so many manufacturers miss.

I think very few of us work on exclusively SAE or exclusively Metric. It’s always a mixture. (Worse for me - I need BA / Whitworth too).

Most of us generally hate blow moulded cases, but they’re not such space wasters used with a 1/4” drive set. If you’re working from a vehicle, having stuff secured so it doesn’t rattle around, and being able to see any missing pieces easily, is invaluable.

Much like your buddy, I’ve got Snap On, Stahlwille, Koken, etc etc, but I can still see the utility of being able to chuck one of those sets in my vehicle, pretty much whatever job I’m doing.

Funny thing, I’ve just saved one of those Titan ratchet’s (the bit ratchet) on my Amazon page. Titan seem to do these well.B5B17083-7308-47E5-88D6-9B51F7D54835.jpeg

^ He absolutely LOVES that little gizmo. And the little 1/4" ratchet. Gotta get the "magic" low-profile adapter set with it to really complete the package.

The small adapter on that gimbal-mounted Titan 1/4" mini-ratchet allowed him to get down into a hole to unfasten some gizmo on a truck he'd been fighting with for days.

I bought one of those Titans on a whim after someone posted about it. It will definitely get some use.

But I just received the VIM tool that is vastly superior in my opinion. Granted it's not a swivel head but the locking flex head is 180* rotation.

Edit, again... I can't upload this photo for some reason

I have had that 1/4 set and the similar 3/8 set for years , love em. I purchased one as a gift a few years back on Amazon for $200 and change. I just looked it is now $913 today...WTF

^ That's why I went with the Tekton - price point. It's good stuff. The knurling on the extensions is in the right place. Markings are pretty clear for old eyes. That big open space in the box holds the other three ratchets.

The Taiwanese are really doing a first-rate job of thinking things through on the designs on these gizmos. And I'm not a big gizmo fan.

I just checked, the one I bought is sold out now. There were 4 left after I bought my additional two.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8CJ1G14/?tag=atomicindus08-20

This is the only other listing I could find for the single lever that is currently in stock at Amazon but it's much more expensive. All the others are 3rd party shipped from China I assume.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B4NGKQW9/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Here's a listing for the double lever one. I'm assuming they're pretty much all the same, just different generic brand names. The double lever is supposed to be less effort to use. I went with the single lever cause I was worried about clearance issues for greasing my suspension.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09QFNCY33/?tag=atomicindus08-20

If you search "grease gun coupler" on Amazon they will pop up. Keep in mind these are inexpensive made in China but for the price I'm happy with them & they've been working well for me so far.
EDIT: Oh BTW, the ones with the black lever is the same as those without. The black is just a thin vinyl cover. If you remove the cover it's the same as those without it & still has the jimping on the lever. I'll probably remove my covers or replace them with thicker vinyl caps, I have the perfect size for them.

Here's the Evolution MagWand.

Thanks buddy. Def going to be looking into these.

Looks like these. ‎440.JP14PB

I bought the 10mm ratcheting version a few months ago and it has become my go to ratcheting wrench.
Also available from PrimeTools and other Euro vendors:

Have been thinking about having a jack and a set of stands at my mothers house (90 min away) and saw the new round-pad Daytonas in stock at the HF near me. There was an ITC sale price on them that made it reasonable enough as a second/remote set, so I hopped out and grabbed them. (my garage is an absolute disaster area between on-going-but-unscheduled work on cars and a building a bunch of steps for my front porch and back deck as well as some other home-repairs)
zwbh6M.jpg
As it turns out, it was a glitch on the site (maybe an upcoming sale?) and the price I saw wasn't in their system or their store "book" for specials. But I was able to show it to them on my computer (on my phone it showed the $90 list price) so they honored the sale price that caused me to come to the store to begin with. It's gone now :(.

In any case, they seem nicely-executed. The welds are tidier than my Escos, and the paint/coating is very well-done (they also painted/coated the post vs. a nickel plating on the Escos) - time will tell if all of that holds up. I think it will be fine, but I wasn't very impressed with the fit/finish of the Escos, but I'd read enough about it in advance that I wasn't surprised. I didn't know what to expect from the Daytonas since they're brand-new and there's nothing out there on them (heck, they had to go pull them from the back/warehouse area of the store), but my first impressions were pretty darn good. Might be slightly lighter than the Escos, which are rated for 12K lb per pair vs. 6K lb/pair for the Daytonas, so that makes sense. They're definitely not flimsy - I have to say that this design is more confidence-inspiring than the plate-metal stands.

Couple Kijiji finds in the last few weeks. Not sure if I'm missing anything:

Router came with both bases but I bought the edge guide separate (new). Still need to source a table mount, dust collection components and the under table lift component. The router table build is a ways down the priority list though right now.

Chop saw I picked up today to cut some aluminum angle for a project I've been putting off forever... Small amount of damage to the base, where the blade walked to the side on the PO, but I figured for the number of times I'll use it, it's really only cosmetic.

Grabbing a couple of clamps tomorrow then onto some plywood after the next paycheck.

I’ve been wanting this 1/4” socket set for a long time and i finally got it!
I have had the same set for >10 years now. I just brought mine out and compared to your picture. It has not changed one iota. It is perfect for taking to a work spot where you do not know what you will encounter, size-wise.

I recently bought a set of those to try and really like them. The slightly unusual box end seems to let you get into more spaces than a regular design and the feel good in the hand. My only complaint is lack of 21 and 23mm in the set

Some new tools today. Just some to have as extras for common used stuff with the exception of the 11mm lol. I don’t have a long 8mm and really don’t want to pay Snap-on prices for them and my driver never has an individual long 8. I’ve heard good things about these Napa Carlyle ones. Also got an extra 14mm and 8mm socket as I use these all the time on everything I work on it seems and I don’t have any extra 6 points at work and can never find them at the pawn shop either. I wanted quality ones too. The 11mm DieHard will be my second Diehard tool I got it as a fill in for my set at the house because that’s another one I can’t find at the pawn shop. Didn’t find the shallow 1/4 drive 10mm I was looking for anywhere so I’ll go to AutoZone or Home Depot or somewhere later and get one. Reason for getting extras is I lost one the other day couldn’t find it then it turned up lol.

I thought only 10mm sockets did that 😊
