Installed a new rocker switch on the drill press, jacked up the boat trailer and pulled the left side wheel off to have a new tire mounted, then put back a new tire that was installed on the old right wheel. Then pulled the spare off the right side and put it back in its storage location. New right side tire should be ready tomorrow.

Got in the groove today and decided to finish my cabinet for my Stanley cases... To do so, I sanded and trimmed the aluminum angle that was not so precisely cut the first time around (apparently, despite my best efforts, I'm not exactly precise, but I only cut one short the first time around). In an effort to be more effective and precise, I built a quick fence for the drill press to make some repeated holes in aluminum. Got it set up just so, and managed to bang out 40 holes in no time flat and they turned out really well! Next I hit the ends with the belt sander quickly to remove any burrs.

Then for the final act, I grabbed the carcase of the build, my trusty slide spacer (you'll see why this was an issue soon) and started screwing the angle into the case. I did check my spacing for the first three rows and they fit with play (too much it seems now) and I kept going. This play obviously compounded and led to the final case being about 1/8" too high.

Out came the chisel and the hand plane, because the clips on the sides of the case that secure the lid were the only issue. It's not pretty but the top case barely fits in. I'm very likely going to scrap this one and bang out another carcase because I have the extra material (and it was free). Being more careful this next time to triple check all of my spacing top to bottom.

Stained some of the garlic-mas decorations to get a colorized version. Assembled a bunch of decorations. Developed a new Halloweeny decoration. Worked out the kinks. Stained and assembled it.

24v DC electrical system for our van build. There are lots of little pieces, a gaggle of heavy gauge wire (not the #10 I'm using here as a working mockup) and two very large batteries still to add.

When I first started working as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic I had a co-worker that I worked nights with who I was trying to learn from. Great guy and very knowledgeable. I was trying to improve my welding skills and kept having to reach for the grinder. He told me one night to "be a welder, not a grinder". I took him literally and the grinder has been my least favorite tool ever since.

Worked on my Dad's old (pre-80's) Homelite chainsaw. It's got no spark and needs and new ignition module. I tried baking the module at 200°F for 2 hours, which can sometimes bring them back. Unfortunately my module is dead and the aftermarket modules are unreliable and costly.

I was just trying to repair it for something to do, my Stihl electric chainsaw works great for my needs.

Acquired a 1/2 HP Dayton bench grinder the other day... Unfortunately it was missing eye shields... I found "no longer available" NOS Dayton lighted eye shields on Ebay... Ordered only one to make sure it fit the threaded holes on the grinder... The shield came in a few minutes ago.... Installed it in the garage.... Perfect fit.... Whoo Hoo..... Just now ordered a second....

I left it occasionally to check on the front yard this morning.
Yesterday about 5 PM I looked out the window at the front yard and saw mole tunnels. New ones - about a 10' by 10' area. We are leaving Saturday for a week long vacation and I haven't had a mole in the front yard for at least 15 years. Of course it would show up now. In a weeks time it would cover the whole front yard.
I walked back by the garage at around 8:30AM this morning to put the shovel back up.
It will not be a problem any more.

Cut some conduit to two 4 ft lengths and added them and the tubing cutter to the tent trailer load, I'l give then a final length cut in camp (the support "rafters" for the canopy frame).

Sprayed two round of some sort of prep stuff on the ZX11 paintwork, then did two rounds of some spiffy sealant stuff. It's supposed to result in the paint looking the absolute dogs ******** in a week or so....

A bit more vehicle maintenance, lubing up the Suburban, finding a loose / leaking bolt on the rear axle cover.

Pickup battery was stone dead again and I can't find my battery charger, so it was an opportunity to use some of the heavy duty electrical mods I made to my Suburban. I've got heavy electrical cabling run to both bumpers, with 'forklift'-type plugs (along with a bunch of other electrical mods, rooftop solar, 1000W inverter etc etc.). I bought a good set of long jumper cables and likewise added a set of the connectors near one end. The whole arrangement lets me plug them in at the bumpers for extra or easier reach. I could have jumped the pickup normally, but it was an excuse to exercise the modifications and amuse myself.

Also changed the pickup side terminal bolts to some aftermarket types that stick out a lot more, for a better jumper clamp bite and cleaned up a bunch of corrosion, before jumping.

Im coming up on five years retired in December.

You live your life knowing when Friday is and when Monday is coming. Now I don't remember either. I only have to remember to put the trash cans out on Tuesdays!

I've always wanted to put one of those valves on my F250. The problem is Id have to change my oil pan... for some reason ford thought it was a good idea to make a plastic oil pan... thats right a plastic oil pan.

On the bright side, I had been looking for these for a minute. Never could justify paying the prices for them on eBag. Put a post up here, and nada. No one had them apparently. (I would rather paid a forum member the equivalent of eBag prices, than a random person on the bag).

Well, my brother runs a diesel repair facility for a fleet. When a driver quits, they have “**” amount of time to gather personal items left in their rigs (leased from the company/company rigs). This is companywide policy.

When the time surpasses the allowed time, and then some (my brother gives them PLENTY of time to claim their personal property), the items are forfeited to the company.

These were in a random box of junk tools left in a rig.

Went to help my brother pull a fuel tank from his suburban, saw these and asked about them. Brought them home and added them to my collection lol.

This “completes” my craftsman RP wrench set. Just wanted to complete it, mostly for nostalgic reasons LMAO.
