There's no "E" in CHROM VANADIUM / CHROM-VAN / CRO-VAN / CRO.VAN / CROM VANADIUM / CROMO VANADIO / CHROMVANADIUM /

It's sometimes difficult to determine who manufactured tools marked "CHROM VANADIUM" (or variants CHROM-VAN or CRO-VAN, which appear to be trade names associated with specific manufacturers.)

This thread is not about CHROMIUM VANADIUM - that's a completely separate thread, and it's not about "CHROME VANADIUM", which can be found stamped on any number of tools imported from Asia over the last ± 60 years.

I went down this rabbit hole only for the purpose of creating something to be used as a reference source, but if you have tools marked "CHROM VANADIUM" made by manufacturers whose names are not shown here, please post them and I will add them to this list. Thanks! ;)

I'm fairly sure there are vintage US made tools marked 'Chrome Vanadium', which leads me to thinks it's all semantics.

I'll have a dig through mine.

I don't have a single tool that is marked Chrom Vanadium. My Gedores only say Vanadium. Stahlwille says Chrome alloy steel. My other tools have no relevant marking.

MATRA alias MArx & TRAube GmbH (Germany)

On some HAZET tools you find also abbreviations as
"CHROM VAN." (see tool photo e.g. "CHROM HAZET 917-5 VAN.")
"CHR. VAN." (see e.g. "CHR. Hazet 4513 VAN." or "CHR. HAZET 916S VAN.")
"CV" (see e.g. "HAZET 745a-4 CV-LUFTH. GERMANY" - the "LUFTH"=luftgehärtet=air-hardened)

and in some cases
"CHROM-VANADIUM" they use a dash in between (see e.g. "Hazet 831-5" or "HAZET 904 Z")
or in two rows
"-CHROM-" "VANADIUM" with dashes as placeholder to center (see e.g. "HAZET 430")

in most cases they use: "CHROM Hazet/HAZET id# VANADIUM GERMANY" and optional patent state as e.g. "D.B.P."

@Orangina -
A Google search for Marx & Traube leads me to the photos of your Karmann Ghia in your garage.
Would you happen to have a photo image of one of those specimens?
Is it expressed on the tool as one word: "CHROMVANADIUM" ?

yes in one word: see "MATRA VW 106" or "MATRA VW 113a/2" etc.
(I post her only the links, so the thread is not flooded by the photos)
MATRA produced tools for car companies (B2B) but not for end customers (no B2C) and is today somehow part of BOSCH.

I came across this old thread while searching for a possible manufacturer ID for a couple of West German offset box end wrenches. They are similarly styled, although only one of them is marked CHROM-VANADIUM. The other is marked DROP FORGED STEEL. They're both SAE: the larger one is 13/16" x 7/8", and the other is 5/8" x 3/4".

I picked them up at an estate sale, so I don't know anything about them except for the markings you can see.
