Ya I know the deal, I was wondering if they had been awarded to you. That was someone's pride and joy at some point in their life, how did you end up with them?Don't know really there only serialized with Snap On part numbers with a 7 looking checkmark for the date code but theese were giving either to people who finished chryslers master technicians test or in school college etc etc MTSC chrysler master tech "program" ended in 2004 or somthing along thoose lines theese were in 97 for 1996 classes¿
O I see yeah I been actually trying to find the 2004 and 2005 set but found theese for sale and yeah that's how I felt when someone scrapped a gold MTSC DCA diamomd ring instead of selling to me to display that was terrible it's ok these will be properly displayed I use to have a couple of the MAC anniversary sets but sold to my freind to display in his fancy mouse box he has like every set and matco anniversary sets etc etcYa I know the deal, I was wondering if they had been awarded to you. Looks like the regular 1997 code.If any Snap On guys have any ideas if the date code is custom or just regular I know part number is same.
YeahLooks like the regular 1997 code.
I can't find info as to if its gold plated 14k 10k or 24k I'm not quite sure and I don't know if they were purchased by chrysler for snap on and then gold plated by another company cause they went 3rd party for the pouch as wellI have some Gold tools from the 70s. From late grandfather he worked at the parts counter for Chrysler dealer for years ,its a socket set not as good looking as your stuff. Is it really gold?
Yeah

I have a set, Chrysler gave them to Master Technicians who had completed all the requirements.Don't know really there only serialized with Snap On part numbers with a 7 looking checkmark for the date code but theese were giving either to people who finished chryslers master technicians test or in school college etc etc MTSC chrysler master tech "program" ended in 2004 or somthing along thoose lines theese were in 97 for 1996 classes¿
Thank you. These threads always made me curious about that. Now I want to find some… just to have some gold tools. I would only buy them at estate sale prices though… I would not buy them at collector prices just to use them…You can use them and it's about the same hardness as chrome.
I have a tote full , from a small Snap on tool box to sockets and wrenches.
Yeah dont use SAE very often anymore I wouldn't ever want to use this set for working on anything it's pretty rare wish there was a way to find out how many sets were given away on the other hand my MAC Racers choice wrenches get used and they work great SAE as well not used as much but most of the collector stuff Is perfectly fine to use as any 9ther wrench socket etcDoes anyone find it ironic that the award was inch wrenches in a metric world? Maybe they didn't want to risk the awardee using the wrenches for actual work.
Pure conjecture, but I'd guess in 1996 when the wrenches were awarded, automotive wasn't nearly as metric centric as it is today. That's been more years ago, than it feels like...Does anyone find it ironic that the award was inch wrenches in a metric world? Most 1996 vehicles have little-to-no boomer spec fasteners.Pure conjecture, but I'd guess in 1996 when the wrenches were awarded, automotive wasn't nearly as metric centric as it is today. That's been more years ago, than it feels like...
Unfortunately rare does not necessarily mean valuable in this case. Looking over sold ebay listings they used a couple tool companies for these award. Some of the snap on stuff sold for below market value if anything.Yeah dont use SAE very often anymore I wouldn't ever want to use this set for working on anything it's pretty rare wish there was a way to find out how many sets were given away on the other hand my MAC Racers choice wrenches get used and they work great SAE as well not used as much but most of the collector stuff Is perfectly fine to use as any 9ther wrench socket etc
