Planning to heat my shop - need input!

Ok...need to make a plan for heating my garage. It is a detached garage, close to 24' x 40'. It is just a block wall with trusses up top, no insulation at all. Whoever built it never thought it through to make a workshop. I do want to occasionally work in the winter in it. There is no need...

    Emglo compressor - Worth fixing?

Geez...picked up a mistake I had in the 1st post. It was the left hand *pump* that doesn't seem to work after the compressor is warmed up, or so he says. I need to get some time to go check it out. Does anyone even have rebuild kits for these compressors anymore??

    Emglo compressor - Worth fixing?

Dad just called and is considering selling his Emglo compressor. I haven't checked it out in a while but he states that once the compressor gets running and warmed up, the left hand pump would hum and not turn over. But let it cool off, and it will fire back up again. Any ideas? Additionally...

    In floor heating

Getting ready to do a bathroom in the house and curious to if anyone has installed an in floor heating system before? This would be my first install. But the biggest question to if anyone has any major pros or cons to a specific brand (I.e. Suntouch or NuHeat). I will be doing tile on top...

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

Well, I was down to really only thing that I haven't checked and that was the motor contactor. I pulled it out of the box and disassembled it. I noticed some slight film on the contacts, so I cleaned them very good and reassembled everything. Flipped the breaker and everything took off like a...

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

That's what I thought when I was all said and done, but wanted to make sure that I was doing things correctly. I just didn't know at what point should I run this down to a shop to have it tested, but there really isn't one too close to just stop by, so I wanted to investigate as much as...

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

I didn't do that, but I tried tonight. What is the proper way to do that? I found two wires, one labeled T1 and the other T4 (picture in post 38 on page 2), so I believe those are the motor leads. They are each clumped in a grouping of three wires. One motor lead wire, one wire going to...

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

The pictures came out bad, but it doesn't "look" bad inside. But I did what you said to try. The motor is still off of the compressor, but I hooked the leads up, put the end bell back on, and got a fluctuating reading of 0.1 and 0.2 Ohms.

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

Ok...got a chance to pull the motor down. Besides normal dust and dirt, I did see some mud-dobber work in there. But...what so I need to check from here?

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

Yep...getting long! Caps checked out ok. Next move when I get a minute is to pull the motor apart for a look. But tomorrow is Mother's Day....so I may not get to it tomorrow.

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

Just stumped now.....not sure if the problem resides in the power supply (electrical panel) or if it is within the compressor. ****.

Trying to get the air compressor hooked up...

Tried a couple things today. Measured the buss bars in various locations, all ~242VAC. Measured the outgoing lugs on the double pole breaker above the air compressor location, measured ~242VAC. Remeasured the outgoing side of the Eaton 30A breaker for the compressor, still measured ~223VAC...
