Your correct Eric. I'm at the beach on vacation and am just going off what I can remember. If I made the framing out of 2x4's I would lose garage space so I want to keep it the way it is. I'm reading your "garage refurb" post right now

I should be able to remove the strips and then remove the plywood and reuse it. I have measured the distance from the wall on the bottom and I have about a 1/2" of clearance from the wall so I'm thinking 1/2" sheet insulation should work.
