reducing hot water to faucet time?

I was with you up until the last sentence. Wouldn't opening up the restrictor on a faucet allow it to flow MORE water? In other words, you'd need more hot water to warm up the extra flow of cold water being used due to no restrictor? How many people do you think are using hot water at a given...

    A different approach to lighting?

4' bypass LEDs are nothing more than LED light strips in a plastic tube (correct me if i'm wrong). while the fixture a bypass bulb is put in certainly will have an effect on the optics and where all the light goes, I fail to understand how a simple LED light strip channel behaves so differently...

    A different approach to lighting?

As I finalize my final lighting plan for my garage (700 sq ft, 8' ceilings, ~20 4' fixtures w/ led bypass bulbs from the 'best light fixture' thread), I can't help but think there has to be a better way. Is putting a clunky metal fixture that's large enough to hold a ballast, but no longer has...

    60 Outlets

That's cute. I've probably added almost 60 to my garage alone.

my compressor build and air line install

interesting idea. any idea if the accumulators were just a chamber, or did they have an internal piston or similar? ditto, although it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't a lot of input on this particular topic. especially being buried in this thread. i've got an extravagant solution, but...

my compressor build and air line install

Just a little update, nothing too major to report. The major components have been working flawlessly, but i ran into a small problem with the check valve/unloader, of all things. After about a month of using the compressor on an extremely light-duty cycle (turn it on, use it, shut it off), I...

my compressor build and air line install

Thanks. The tensioner came up a little earlier in the thread, and although I'm not positive. I believe it to be an Overly Hautz. Here's the link to the info I mentioned earlier in the thread... link

Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

Now that it's done I can post it here. It is a frankencompressor. 3hp baldor motor, IR2475 2-stage pump, 80 gallon saylor-beall tank, underdriven to 600 rpm keep it quiet. Build thread here

my compressor build and air line install

time for a little update. things have changed quite a bit, and for the better  shortly after my last post, the 210 started knocking again on startup and read 0 oil pressure. there was clearly an issue. i had a spare 210 laying around, so i pulled the pump internals out of the spare...

    Pit Cart build

Cool. Where are you out of? You build the car? Since you'll most likely want slow speeds, I wonder how a heavily geared scooter motor would work? I have used a few of them in little power wheel type applications I've made for my son. Even when geared for around 5mph(way faster than you'd want)...

    Anyone own a 3d printer?

Looks like a neat little printer. I have an ultimaker, and it works farely well. Is this purchase a need, or a want? You can do some pretty cool stuff with them if you can 3D model.

    Noisy AC Vents

In my experience, the style of register cover can affect the noise level. Specifically, any cover that has louvers that change the direction of the air are the loudest. Pull the register cover, and see if that makes a difference, then experiment with different covers.

    Help Troubleshooting Coat Hanger Antenna

Aiming your antenna will make a huge difference. Spend the time get it aimed for max signal strength. There are websites that will tell you where the antennas are located, then you can use the compass app on your iPhone to aim it. As mentioned, a reflector spaced at the correct distance behind...

New LED cans installed, so what to buy for trim?

I usually buy the "conversion" LEDs for the recessed lights because it includes the led, driver, and trim as one piece. This makes the ic can even more air tight, and is usually cheaper than buying led and trim separately. Personally, I like inside lights as close to 2700k as possible...
