Would all of my splices be at the fixtures? I didn't see any junction boxes in the attic (as far as I could look. I couldn't get where the wires go down the wall to the box)

Thanks all for the replies. The steel rods in the arms were added later on by a family member at some point. I reckon replacing the rails will work for me. If you Guys think bending new rails is unneeded, I'll try cutting them
