    Welding with a step-down

I will be moving to England soon. Moving all my tools and furniture is payed for me. I plan on taking my Hobart 140 that runs on 110v. I'm being told there are little-to-no 110 outlets in England. Has anyone ran a 110 welder on a voltage step down? Is it possible? If it's not ill keep the...

    Hardwired smoke alarm got shorted

Would all of my splices be at the fixtures? I didn't see any junction boxes in the attic (as far as I could look. I couldn't get where the wires go down the wall to the box)

    Hardwired smoke alarm got shorted

I reset all breakers to make sure. I unplugged the pigtails from the detector and the pigtails is what shorted after the detector was removed from the ceiling. There are other wires in the box for the detector but they look undisturbed. I'll check them anyway. I got nervous that something in the...

    Hardwired smoke alarm got shorted

So while painting our house, we removed a smoke alarm from the ceiling. Little did I know it was hardwired in the ceiling. While getting the alarm down the power and neutral wires sprung back and shorted with each other. This shut off 4 other light fixtures in the vacinity of the alarm and thy...

    Antique Furniture repair for Woodworkers

Thanks all for the replies. The steel rods in the arms were added later on by a family member at some point. I reckon replacing the rails will work for me. If you Guys think bending new rails is unneeded, I'll try cutting them

I wasn't interested in them until I found one that was rated for 18g. That made me skeptical

Shear attachment for drill. Anyone put these to use?

This thing popped up a few weeks ago while I was thumbing thru the Internet. Looks to be an excellent idea if you don't need a full size shear. Has anyone used one of these (not just dewalt)? How did it hold up? I research things a lot before I spend money.

What kind of box is this?

. The later version aluminum ones wouldn't be that difficult to make as they are just riveted to a backing cloth strip. I saw a episode of woodsmith shop when they made a tambour door and it didnt look all that hard. I have a lot of aluminum Sheetmetal around. I think the box is still missing...

What kind of box is this?

Just picked this box up with a Chas Parker 953 bolted to the top for $80. It looks like the old snap on kind that had the metal roll down front, but I can't find a manufacture on it anywhere. It has tracks for a roll front. It also has 3 coats of different paint on it. It has a junction box...
