Underground Junction Box for Outdoor Lights

Looks like I'm going to put in a GFCI switch, then run wire in conduit to the lamp post. I want to put an outlet on the outside to plug in things like Christmas lights. Thanks for the recommendations.

Underground Junction Box for Outdoor Lights

Ideally I'd like to keep the outlet above ground, but I just can't see any way to do it. My parents have a light post, and it has a base around 12" diameter. It's an old timey light post with 5 lights, but I just want a simple post. So I just don't think there's enough room physically to put an...

Underground Junction Box for Outdoor Lights

My house has a switched wire going outside that went to what I guess was a light post in the past. There's nothing out there now except for a bare wire...YIKES! :shocking: I want to put my own light post in outside and eventually run some outdoor lighting for the side of the house, and for...

    Furnace won't run properly...

It's not a hot surface ignitor. It's a spark plug like one.

    Furnace won't run properly...

I cleaned the flame sensor and ignitor with the scotch brite pad, and the same results. The flame sensor had cracked ceramic insulation and I could move the metal probe up and down about 1/8". So I'm thinking the sensor is cracked and bad.

Lennox Conservator III G16 Upflow model Robert Shaw Controller SP735L Robert Shaw Grayson 7100 DER-S7C regulator I believe the fan and limit controller is a Honeywell of some kind. The inducer motor turns on and runs just fine. I can hear the ignitor click on. A few seconds later the burners...

Ceiling Fan Remote for Hunter Fan

Just got a Hunter ceiling fan and I'd like to control it via remote. The place where I bought it was completely out of the remotes. I've seen online the remotes, but all look to fit into a single gang box. I've got a double gang box - one switch goes to the ceiling light (to be replaced by fan)...

Opinions on Electrical Upgrade in House & Garage

Sweet, thanks for the replies. I think the current wire size is 14/2, but I haven't confirmed that. Raider, how much did that run you? That looks promising, and I've always wanted whole house surge protection.

Opinions on Electrical Upgrade in House & Garage

Forgot to add what my requirements were for my garage. It's used mainly as a space to work on my CJ5 and store the GF's car. Don't have any 220V equipment, but my plan is to eventually get an air compressor and welder and perhaps a heater down the line. Current house and garage subpanel are...

Opinions on Electrical Upgrade in House & Garage

I'm looking to upgrade my house and subsequently my garage's electrical service. Here's the list of things I'd like to do in priority: Upgrade fuse panels to circuit breaker panels Add generator interlock Add 220V line and 2 or 3 outlets to garage Upgrade main to 200A service Upgrade garage to...

DIY or pay contractor for attic insulation?

On a related note, what needs to be done around light fixtures in the attic prior to blown in insulation? And if I paid a company, would they do this, or should I take the steps myself?

Talk to Me About Waterproofing Basement

I neglected to say exactly where the water was coming in, good catch Old Wizard. It's coming in through the walls, specifically the east and south wall. I'm 99% sure it's coming in through the mortar, 3-5 feet from the floor, which is 2-4 feet below ground level. I know I'm probably looking at...

Talk to Me About Waterproofing Basement

Thanks for the replies and the pics, they have helped me start wrapping my head around this. I've read about digging outside the foundation, but I'm not sure if I want to go that route yet. I saw a house that had the french drain installed in the basement and you couldn't hardly tell it was...

Talk to Me About Waterproofing Basement

First post here, from Indianapolis. Garage related because the basement will be my workshop with the garage for Jeep/motorcycle/car storage. My basement in the house gets water seepage, but only when it's raining or the snow is melting. There's a corner of the house that had clogged up gutters...
