ISO - Salvage motor for repurposing

Hello fellow knuckle busters! I'm looking for advice on where to find the"correct" type of salvage motor. My old floor standing bandsaw needs a new motor. I realize that 1/2 or 3/4 HP motor that runs 1725rpm can be bought easily, but I thought my son and I could have fun pulling out a salvage...

    Need replacement motor for bandsaw

Howdy folks, I really enjoy this forum. You helped me tremendously in the past ! My daily use bandsaw is a vintage 12" craftsman on a pedestal all original I picked up for $75 locally. Never had an issue with it. Yesterday I plug it in, and nothing but a hum or buzz noise with zero blade...

I'm gonna give #3 a try. I've got a few rotary tools, just need to grab the correct wheel, to cut the groove. Thanks for the ideas!

    General welding question

I'm a handy guy, fix stuff all the time. I have not dived into welding at all. So please be gentle... What should I buy/learn about in regards to welding types etc? Fixing stuff, trailers, gates, broken bolts etc. I will not be building frames for race cars. What's my intro into this world? Thanks!

Support and parts for this bike ended some time back, if my research is correct. I do appreciate the input !

Broken bolt/cant weld or heat it

Broken 5/16" reverse thread bolt in a $2000+ exercise bike. I took bolt off due to wobbly crank arm. It had blue loc tite on it. Used a cobalt drill but, then stupidly put an extractor bit in, and cranked to the left. Snapped off. Lesson learned. Next step? Drill again, tap and bolt and I'm...
