Replaced the Ref and did find out what is wrong with the original, it was the bypass like 5ubtle mentioned. I diagram above it shows a ball bearing in there which is non-replaceable leading me to think it's there. Well it must have fallen out

Don't think so because the pressure is full on as soon as the valve opens. The bypass has a hole of less than a 1/8 inch
