    CSST Bonding Question

Thanks for that response.. Sadly, I had read the document at that link before posting here but failed to fully digest this portion which I lifted from the third paragraph: "The bonding clamp attachment point may be at any location within the gas piping system. However, the shortest practical...

    CSST Bonding Question

Greetings all, I have a question regarding how close the bonding has to be to each CSST section installed in a gas system. Here is my scenario. I have a Morton building which has gas supplied via CSST from the basement of our house. The buildings are about 75 feet apart. The rest of the piping...

    Metal ceiling installation questions

I've been using the Diablo blade to cut these to length and that was my first thought.. Holy hell is that noisy! First cut made without any ear plugs... That was quickly remedied. Hoping to wrap this up middle of next week when I have a second set of hands around again.

    Metal ceiling installation questions

Had a pretty productive night last night.. There were 10 panels to install overall. We managed to get 6 installed before I had to break for a work call. Getting the panels cut to the right length was a touch tricky. Too long and we couldn't sag them enough in the middle to get both ends to...

    Metal ceiling installation questions

I see what's causing the confusion here. I have my walls finished already(drywall). I will not be using metal paneling on the walls. I am looking to trim out the intersection of the metal ceiling with the wall that is already finished. Thus the need for the j-chan at the ceiling. Does that help...

    Metal ceiling installation questions

I checked my panels yesterday and it looks like they are a little different then what you are describing. Instead of a longer lip on one side, I have a ridge that has an angled section where as the other ridges are all arches. I'll see if I can snag a picture of it later today. Either way, I...

    Metal ceiling installation questions

Walls are 1/2" plywood with drywall on top. The room is a bit of a shop/hobby room/sports bar....

    Metal ceiling installation questions

Thanks for the response. Much appreciated. What do you mean when you say "start with the correct side of the panel for the correct overlap"? My entrance to the room is at the front, so I was going to start my panels at the back of the room to keep the seams facing rearwards and thus not exposed...

    Metal ceiling installation questions

The panels are long sheets, 3 feet wide by 14+ feet long. The sheets tuck into the j-channel at the edges of the ceiling to give it a 'finished' look. Similar to how vinyl siding is trimmed along windows or at corners on a house.

    Metal ceiling installation questions

Hello all. I have a couple of questions regarding metal ceiling installation that I was hoping some others with experience could weigh in on. I am using metal ribbed panels purchased directly from Morton. Questions: 1) I have j-channel that gets installed around the perimeter of the room at...

    Drilling Morton Barn Supports

Hi all, I'm prepping to wire the shop I'm building in my Morton barn. Can anyone comment on whether it is acceptable to drill holes for wiring and conduit through the poles of the barn? I'm rather hesitant to drill through the vertical support structures in the building. Just wondering what...

    Partially heated concrete floor

I'm working on partitioning out a 15x30 foot shop in our existing 30x60 barn. The shop will be heated in the winter. The remaining floor space in the barn will not be heated. The floor in the barn is a 4" poured concrete floor. During a very harsh winter last year, I definitely had some heaving...

Morton barn framing and ceiling questions

My ceilings aren't all that high to begin with and I'd hate to lose 6" of headroom to build a ceiling under the trusses. I see several folks here have finished off their ceilings using the ribbed metal panels. Seems like that might be a lighter weight option that would not put much load on the...

Morton barn framing and ceiling questions

You are correct. The partition wall will be running parallel to the window wall. I was going to tie the header of the partition wall directly to the underside of the truss, but it sounds like I need these clips you describe in your post. That 'header' you see suspended under the truss in the...

Morton barn framing and ceiling questions

Hi folks, I'm working on a diy frame out of 30x60 Morton building. I'm trying to partition out 2 of the 'bays' in the building to form a heated 15x30 workspace. I got some free advice from a GC who described how he would approach the project, but after starting, I have some concerns about loads...
